I’ve been mostly composed since my one major blowup, but there is zero reason to defend La Russa here and I can’t believe are posters here actually trying to. Saying you are ok with the opposing team throwing at your player is 100% unacceptable and even the old-school posters who try to defend La Russa at every turn should acknowledge that.

The one positive is this is going to get a ton of attention. At some point, Jerry theoretically wakes up from his Winning Ugly wet dream to realize that it’s 2021 and that a 76 year old La Russa can no longer manage.

And that’s how your manager single-handily risks destroying all momentum. Publicly shame one of your hottest players and then follow it up with poor in-game decision-making that helps cost you a game that would have further buried a key divisional rival. Oh well, at least Jerry can feel better about his great regrets at least.

100% agree with this. I fundamentally disagree with the “unwritten baseball rules” and that you can’t swing when you’re way up, but Mercedes should at least follow signs if given. That being said, airing this out publicly is stupid and shows just how bad of a fit La Russa is for this club.

This post aged poorly

I was expecting something awesome like go get Bryce Harper, and instead the plan is trade for a starter who isn’t materially better than what we currently have in Gray, call-up a minor league reliever who hasn’t been good since 2017, and acquire the rights to a non-baseball player. Your a good dude Caulfield, but maybe just go watch Millionaire Dollar Arm instead of making up your own nonsensical Disney movie.

It’s May 17th and the Twins are already 11.5 games behind us. Hopefully it’s 13.5 by the end of the series with our theoretical top two arms on the mound these next two games.
