  1. Lol...nothing better than the douche on the message board who basically defends every decision their favorite team makes because those in charge are “professionals” while the rest of us are just some “dudes” on the internet. Why the fuck are you here if debating actual baseball decisions is not acceptable in your mind? I’m sensing a strong Tommy Longo vibe with you.
  2. I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse for batting Leury 6th, especially not against a RHP. TLR could have a million games as manager and it would still be completely stupid. If you’re compelled to start him in a sub optimal matchup at least bat him 8th.
  3. I don’t necessarily disagree with anything you say here, just point out a 3.7 ERA from seven years ago in a different park & league isn’t the same as a 3.7 today. Lynn is most definitely a much better pitcher today, ERA be damned.
  4. Parks, leagues, and time periods do matter though.
  5. I did miss that and am glad there is some optimism in you my friend! Now, next time I randomly run into you at a game I expect you to accept offer of a free beer or two!
  6. Rub one out brother and life will be better
  7. Cease would be an interesting gamble at the right price, but I’m guessing they’d rather wait and see that some of his offseason work has paid off first.
  8. I think Marshall is most likely with Lynn next on the totem poll.
  9. Cease spent all off-season working on his 4 seamer and trying to remove its cutting action, so I’d wait & see him pitch before saying his carry hasn’t improved. 11 k’s through five is a promising sign, even if just spring training.
  10. I really don’t see how Hamilton survives once Engel comes back.
  11. Exactly...not exactly hard to find a good defense, bad bad catcher like Lucroy.
  12. Tell that to my kids who now say “ya’ll” instead of “you all”!!!
  13. From a realistic lens, the Sox still have enough talent to win the AL Central without Eloy but need to further limit serious injuries and likely need a couple of breakthrough performances to offset normal wear & tear / regression. Moncada and Cease are the fulcrums IMO, but there are other guys like Vaughn, Collins, Rodon, etc who could greatly exceed expectations and change our trajectory. I’m still far more nervous than I’d like to be given the core in place, but this is still one of the most talented rosters in my lifetime as a Sox fan.
  14. Jack - I love you bro, but you really need to find a better balance when it comes to the pessimism. It’s much better to go all in on the optimism and then rage move your family to Nashville when it doesn’t work out then live your life expecting the worse all the time.
  15. Also, saying every OF is trying to make that catch in a meaningless spring training game is 100% not true, but do I agree anyone who can steal a HR twenty rows deep should be on SportsCenter highlights.
  16. Why are you trying to anger the baseball gods with this diatribe? It’s way too early to say we have enough depth when we’ve already lost two OFs (one possibly being our best hitter) and a RP for extended periods of time. For now, we should all just be crossing our fingers and hoping for the best while enjoying some White Sox baseball...absolutely no reason to be tempting fate.
  17. Why should the backup be a defensive stalwart and not just the best overall player?
