  1. I’m trying to remain positive given how good the bulk of our roster is, but I do fear what happens at the deadline if our lack of depth finally leaves us exposed. Right now we could add decent depth pieces just for money, but come July even decent rentals will cost a pretty penny and that will hurt an already weak farm system. Just got to hope our players mostly stay healthy, which is asking a lot when you have injury prone guys like Eloy, Robert, Eaton, Madrigal, & Moncada in the lineup. We also desperately need one of Cease or Kopech to step up, because we can’t survive two black holes at the back end of the rotation.
  2. Yeah, I’m guessing most clubs will be similarly aggressive, but hopefully this means both W-S are stacked with younger talent and not a ton of org guys like have oftentimes been in the past.
  3. Getz also hinted at this in a recent Fegan article. Bailey pretty much confirmed for Kanny and pretty wild that Weaver would go straight to High A. Should open up OF playing time in Kanny for Krogman or Comas.
  4. After is not the same as before though. I think we’ll start spending more once we get through this shit, but definitely an nervous about next offseason with the risk of a work stoppage in the air.
  5. I’d normally agree, but we do have CBA expiring next offseason and Reinsdorf doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to uncertainty.
  6. Using their ridiculously low payrolls at peak rebuild to suggest they spent most of the Machado money is poor logic. The reality is that money has not been spent at this point in time. However, if they can extend Giolito & Lynn and possibly add a few years onto Anderson’s deal I’d probably change my tune.
  7. So gross...only the White Sox would put play two slap hitters in the corners
  8. Agree, but good to have a veteran body in the mix to keep Collins honest.
  9. I like hearing this. I’d love to see the following lineup & rotation at Kannapolis: 1B: DJ Gladney 2B: Jose Rodriguez SS: Lency Delgado 3B: Bryan Ramos LF: Benyamin Bailey CF: Cabera Weaver RF: Luis Mieses DH: Harvin Mendoza CA: Jefferson Mendoza Jared Kelley Matthew Thompson Andrew Dalquist Norge Vera Isaiah Carranza
  10. I do struggle seeing how we could build around him if we gave up our next three firsts given our aging defense, lack of talent on offense, and shitty cap situation.
  11. Someone else will still offer more than the Bears though. We aren’t getting Watson if the best asset we’re giving up is the #20 pick in 2021.
  12. But three 1st rounds picks aren’t overly valuable when the only one in 2021 is #20. Someone will offer the Texans a top 7 pick plus multiple other first rounders, with a possibility of two this year. The Dolphins can literally offer Tua, 1.03, & 1.18 and still have two 2nd round picks & a 3rd round pick to invest into their offense and have a full suite of picks after this year. The Bears can’t come anything close to that unfortunately.
  13. So who gets the boot off the 40 man? Feels like Ruiz would be the favorite, although Vargas is another option. I’d imagine Zavala is safe until they add another catcher.
  14. Young Promising Woman was an awesome movie and hopefully receives a Best Picture nomination. Another movie that I found to be excellent from 2020 that I just watched was A Good Woman is Hard to Find.
  15. Pitchers have different batted ball profiles, so they would not all have the same benefit from defense.
  16. Hard salary caps and floors would be fantastic if you want parity, but I doubt the owners ever give into that without a strike.
  17. He won’t live up to the hype, but honestly, just getting a modern mind in that role will pay for itself tenfold. It’s remarkable how bad our young starters have been under Cooper, with the only success story being the guy who reached outside the organization for help from Katz. If Ethan can get Cease turned around, that alone will pay for his salary.
  18. Yes, we are definitely better than last year. And you didn’t even mention Katz, and while we shouldn’t him to be our savior, should help a lot.
  19. Exactly, those picks need to be discounted some. Still a real nice return for the Lions, but it doesn’t make Watson untradeable by any means.
  20. Nice seeing a lot guys are already hungry!
