  1. Yeah, I see no way they don’t give Cease a job unless he looks absolutely horrendous in camp. Hopefully this ends up being Rodon vs. Lopez vs. Folty and one them emerges.
  2. I’ve been very angry the past week ever since Bob said we were “tapped out”, but if we’re going to dumpster dive to fIll out our rotation I do like this move over possible others. I agree, it would be good to add one more arm to the mix if this is the caliber we’re going with.
  3. Lol...there was nothing fabulous about that appearance.
  4. I’m an idiot and he was projected for $4.5M in arbitration, so he’s likely getting less than that. I could see up to $4M maybe.
  5. Lol...good point. What was his projected arb salary?
  6. This makes me wonder what the price is. I would have guessed somewhere around $3M, but if we had to “outbid” the Cubs for him I guess I could see up to $5M.
  7. Beef said that and then self corrected a few hours later I believe, which is a bit odd.
  8. I’m not optimistic about Rodon suddenly figuring it out and being healthy for an extended stretch, but I’m glad they added another arm to the mix. Hope they add Folty as well and then let them and Lopez battle for the 5th starter role in spring training. Not ideal obviously, but better than an older dumpster dive who lacks stuff.
  9. I have a feeling we resign Rodon & Mazara and then add Folty and a vet catcher on minor league deals.
  10. Come on man, that wasn’t in relation to this year’s team. That’s about Jerry’s general refusal to invest in his product to drive attendance and instead needing guaranteed revenue to actually spend appropriately. That’s not how businesses typically work, but given professional sports teams are a unique beast he can get away with it. We are clearly one of the best teams on paper, but our depth is paper thin on the pitching side of things and all it takes is one major injury to the big three for a potential playoff spot to be in serious jeopardy. I’m not going to sit back and be ok with that when our payroll is down YoY and a measly $8M could make a material difference.
  11. I called them a shit product? Please share that post because I’d love to see it. Meanwhile, just in the last hour I stated the team has a roster capable of winning a World Series ?
  12. I wish I saw this before posting...lol
  13. It’s 2021 and there are people still using batting average as the primary metric to evaluate the effectiveness of hitters...wow
  14. You are assuming injuries don’t happen and that’s the problem. It’s only 10 starts from Lopez if everyone else is healthy & productive.
  15. This is absurd. They definitely have a roster capable of winning a World Series on paper, but they got to make the playoffs first and our lack of depth could really hurt us if we get hit with too many injuries or too much underperformance out of a few key spots.
  16. IMO, truly competitive teams should try to avoid developing multiple young starters at the same in the major league rotation. Cease is coming off a horrific season and is a total wild card. I tend to believe he will take a step forward under Katz, but that‘s far from a guarantee. He should be our #5 to enter the season and given every chance to secure a long-term spot. To me, that means Kopech starts in AAA and has to force his way into a rotation spot or come up in the event of injury. He simply can’t be counted on as a full season starter and that means adding another arm, preferably one who can slot in ahead of Cease to start the season. I also think you must plan for injuries and right now we simply lack the depth to survive what should be an ugly season for starting pitchers. That’s my single biggest issue right now with this offseason.
  17. How many competitive teams are relying on guys coming off FIPs in the 6 to 7 range as their #4 & #5 starters to open the season? And it’s shocking that some people keep ignoring the fact Kopech will be on a strict innings limit and won’t have pitched in a competitive game in like 950 days when the season actually starts. That’s a tremendous about of uncertainty at the back of the rotation and all it takes is one major injury to the big three to potentially derail the whole thing. Banking on Katz being our savior instead of adding an arm like Quintana for $8M is simply unacceptable.
  18. Which is why is why I said we probably wouldn’t be able to get a deal, but the Rockies are one of the dumbest organizations so leaving a sliver of a chance ?
  19. Which is where we’re going to struggle to find a deal that works. Kelley + Thompson + Bailey + Rodriguez doesn’t feel like enough to get a deal done and that’s probably the best package of prospects 20 & under we could put together (excluding Vera) to get a deal done.
