  1. Gotcha, I thought that wasn’t confirmed yet, but mark him off the list!
  2. The SP is suspect but are they done adding? I could see them signing Paxton and/or making a trade for a cost-controlled starter.
  3. Honestly, I’d be fine with Mazara an interim DH / backup OF once Vaughn is up if it means we add Tanaka or Paxton.
  4. Hopefully they’re planning something with the Jays making all these moves.
  5. This is why you’re my favorite poster Ron...I’m literally dying of laughter right now.
  6. I have never seen a poster derail threads like this is in my entire time here. And I’m even counting Greg as he would eventually relinquish his crazy points at some point. Like half of this shit is legit arguing about how arguments work.
  7. Did you not follow the team last year at all? We were one of the best teams in baseball despite horrible production from RF, DH, SP3, & SP4, miscues from Nick Madrigal, Moncada being plagued by COVID, Robert going through rookie struggles, Eloy missing time, & Bummer missing most of the season. Whatever we get out of some of these trouble spots is upside vs. last year. We also are stocked with young, talented players who should get better. Your view of things is unrealistically pessimistic and continue to ignore the fact that a lot of our competition has gotten worse. I’m not satisfied with our offseason, but we are still one of the top teams on paper and should be a serious threat for the pennant baring massive injuries.
  8. Feels like the longer it takes to add a starting pitcher, the more likely it will come via trade. That is not to suggest it will be a Burnes type pitcher, but I could us acquiring a back-end piece and/or reclamation project on the cheap that they prefer over the remaining free agents. I know Harold threw out Jon Gray and I can’t imagine he’d cost much after a disastrous 2020 and with one year remaining. I can’t imagine people would be happy about that, but I could see him being a guy the Sox have always loved.
  9. He may not want to wait indefinitely while the Sox & Twins move in different directions. At some point he has to make the best of a shit hand or risk an even worse fate.
  10. Hey James, what do you think about Stones tweet about Cruz? You think he’s not up to speed on things or have the Sox maybe moved on?
  11. I know someone already did this, but here are the primary DHs for all the AL contenders: NYY: Giancarlo Stanton TOR: Teoscar Hernandez* TB: Austin Meadows* HOU: Yordan Alvarez OAK: Kris Davis LAA: Shohei Ohtani CLE: Franmil Reyes BOS: J.D. Martinez Unless Cruz resigns with the Twins or wants to play for a team with zero chance of competing, he’s signing with the Sox.
  12. You can say it’s not significant, but saying we’re throwing a bunch of shit at the wall and hoping it sticks doesn’t make any sense. We’ve literally had three additions and two of them were top 10 AL Cy Young finishers. The reality is without more additions the Sox are banking on growth and bounce-backs from their younger guys, which is risky to some extent but doesn’t reflect throwing shit against the wall.
  13. Dylan Cease and the rest of the rotation is the fulcrum next year. The bullpen & lineup should be amongst the best in baseball, but we need our big three starters to pitch like expected and for Dylan to take a major league forward. Health will also be key as if any of them miss considerable time, our depth and Katz’s magic touch will be tested through lots of Reynaldo Lopez. But in all honesty, I could see Cease full on clicking next year and putting up a 4 win season.
  14. Fuck Stone, that grump doesn’t know shit. At this point Cruz has to sign with us by default as we’re the last contender with an opening at DH if the Twins are truly out. And the fact that @Y2Jimmy0 has confirmed we already made an offer and so has Not Cishek only reinforces that confidence. ALL THE FUCK IN!
  15. Then somebody should let the org mouthpiece in on the plan ?
  16. Come on man, you’re suggesting we can’t survive even one road block? Our depth isn’t good, but let’s not act like everything went right last year. The offense can endure some setbacks, so can the bullpen. The rotation is the most concerning area and it better be addressed.
  17. So you’re question is what if everything possible goes wrong?
  18. Beef really pushing this Jerry wants Cruz narrative:
  19. You forgot the most important one: 9. All other contenders are perfect
  20. Why do you continue use career stats to evaluate pitchers nowadays? Guys can change for the better on a whim and that’s what has happened with Lynn. If you’ve watched him pitch over the past 2 1/2 years, you’d realize he’s much better than a mid rotation starter.
