  1. Not the end of the world, was fascinated by Musgrove but that was also assuming a semi reasonable price and I don’t think we could have pulled something like this. Oh well, on to the next one.
  2. And the fact we traded none of them other than Walker and even then we have nothing to show for it. Still can’t believe we couldn’t extract an older lottery ticket type prospect for Basabe, although I guess we can add that to the long list of ways the Padres have fucked us...lol.
  3. You mean over-slot college hitters in the second aren’t the way to go?
  4. The Padres ain’t fucking around. Pretty nuts they have added Snell, Darvish, & Musgrove and still have a half dozen top 100 prospects.
  5. Nick Madrigal named to the MLB Pipeline All Defensive team for 2021: https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/mlb-pipeline-2021-all-defense-team.html?tcid=tw_article_&__twitter_impression=true
  6. Because we’re awesome and you’re running out of options bro.
  7. Lol...that was him! Didn’t he somehow get caught lying about it too?
  8. Was that the dude who lied about having 49ers season tickets?
  9. I think he would be by default, but it sounds like they’d like to move him to the bullpen which is yet another reason we need another starter.
  10. What about Brett Myers or Wil Cordero? I personally also really hated David Wells, but not sure he would pass Navarro.
  11. If we add a legit #4 starter, we’ll have Kopech, Stiever, & Flores waiting in the wings at AAA with Lopez in the bullpen. That’s pretty decent depth, but definitely that one additional starter.
  12. Thanks. Not sure if it was you, but I apologize to whoever I told Tanaka wouldn’t accept a one year deal. Clearly I was wrong on that.
  13. Has he changed his demands? I thought he was looking for a multi-year deal and was hinting he’d go back to Japan if not offered one here.
  14. Second best in the AL on paper with the potential to be the best with enough development from the young guys.
  15. All good points, but in all honesty I’m skeptical this is true. But if it were true, I’d be shocked if they had ~$15M of budget left and they spent the bulk of it on an actual DH and basically ignored the rotation. We definitely need another starter and I’m confident they will add that, so signing Cruz would imply there has to be more money available. I’m not suggesting that means we’re suddenly approach the luxury tax, but perhaps we end up in the $145M to $150M range. Again, I’m doubtful any of that happens and fully expect a Richards or Quintana +’La Stella type to end this offseason.
  16. To me, it just depends on what version of Bauer you’re getting. The 2020 version is probably worth $35M while Quintana should be a $10M guy, but that’s based on a 12 start sample and there’s no guarantee you’re getting that guy.
  17. If the Sox were to sign him, I think it may suggest there is more to play with that we all think.
  18. There is a big disconnect between Quintana’s FIP and his Statcast numbers in 2019. And I really don’t think career numbers matter at all, when one is ascending talent and the other looking to be descending. It’s definitely possible that Jose ends up being a steal at $10M, but he’s not remotely comparable to Bauer IMO.
  19. Fully agree and Vera has been know about for like half a year, so not sure it would warrant that tweet.
