  1. It’s the right move if Jerry refuses to pay top dollar for a TOR starter as we’ll need to develop our own and Kopech & Cease have much higher ceilings obviously.
  2. To Steve’s point, it’s pretty ridiculous they didn’t agree to this deal last August.
  3. It was kind of strange when Katz listed every young pitcher on the staff and didn’t say he was working with Dunning.
  4. If paired with George Springer I’d be much more excited, but it’s blatantly obvious that a lesser OF (probably Joc) will be added within the next week or so.
  5. And let me be clear, I absolutely love Lance Lynn and am excited we have him, but I think that’s an overpay unless we think we can extend him.
  6. You deserve retribution Adam for posting all those Tweets and they actually being legit!
  7. Not sure Cubs fan are huge Heyward fans at this point in time, although they sure as shit loved that 8th inning miracle speech he gave in the World Series
  8. I’m just messing around. What did Nightengale say about Schwarber?
  9. And if the Cubs pay down a portion of Heyward’s contract, it may in fact become movable to some degree after the 2021 season.
  10. You know you’re my guy fathom, but you are truly obsessed with the Cubs lol
  11. Look, I’m not a Heyward fan by any means, but he does some things right. For example, he’s been about a 115 wRC+ over his last 1,000 plate appearances against RHP, with a very solid OBP (~.360) and not a ton of K’s. He’s also plays a pretty good RF and can cover CF in a pinch. He’s obviously completely overpaid and I think Joc might provide more upside if you get the 2018 to 2019 version, but if talking a chunk of his contract reduces the cost of Darvish you at least have to consider it.
  12. I’d want to see the full terms before passing judgement, but adding Darvish, signing Richards (I’ll pass on Quintana), and holding onto both Kopech & Cease would be a pretty good outcome for us pitching wise this winter.
  13. I could see Leury, but if we’re talking on a sizable chunk of Heyward’s deal and giving up Dunning I’d assume Heuer is not part of this. If we gave up a reliever I’d think Foster is more likely.
