  1. Feels like we’re never going to score again, but I still think we’re going to win this game.
  2. There is no inherent flaw with that stat, but rather how one is drawing conclusions from it. Taking a tiny sample and saying analytics don’t like a player is completely disingenuous and reflects a bias against said player. Full stop, we know Madrigal isn’t a terrible base-runner or fielder and so far analytics think he is an above average hitter based on his quality of contact. I’d wager large sums of money he’ll have some 3 win projections next year.
  3. I’ve been pretty unimpressed with FG as of late, especially in regards to their White Sox prospect knowledge, but this definitely takes the cake.
  4. Advanced metrics are penalizing Madrigal for a handful of dumb plays in the field and on the bases in an incredibly small sample. I seriously doubt any projection model would project Mendick as the superior player when he’s worse than Nick with the bat, the glove, and on the bases.
  5. Closers benefit from the arbitration process as currently constructed though.
  6. No fucking clue. Honestly that’s good for the Sox, but sucks as a fan as it means no baseball on the actual weekend.
  7. Yup, especially for us. We don’t have the rotation depth to survive a long ALDS and be a strong position to win the ALCS.
  8. For me, I’m going with Giolito, Keuchel, & Dunning in games 1 through 3 respectively in both the Wild Card & Divisional rounds (the three days off between the series allows for this). Game 4 of the DS would be Cease by default if needed. No idea what you do if there is a game 5. Do you go with Giolito on short rest but then limit his availability in a potential ALCS that has no off days? I don’t see how you can possibly run out Lopez or Stiever in a do or die game. To me, that ALCS series is where the real trap exists for teams like us that lack quality depth in their rotation.
  9. So here’s the official playoff schedule for AL teams. Given the unique structure, teams are going to have some interesting decisions to make with their rotations. 09/29 - WC - Game 1 09/30 - WC - Game 2 10/01 - WC - Game 3* 10/02 10/03 10/04 10/05 - DS - Game 1 10/06 - DS - Game 2 10/07 - DS - Game 3 10/08 - DS - Game 4* 10/09 - DS - Game 5* 10/10 10/11 - CS - Game 1 10/12 - CS - Game 2 10/13 - CS - Game 3 10/14 - CS - Game 4 10/15 - CS - Game 5* 10/16 - CS - Game 6* 10/17 - CS - Game 7* 10/18 10/19 10/20 - WS - Game 1 10/21 - WS - Game 2 10/22 10/23 - WS - Game 3 10/24 - WS - Game 4 10/25 - WS - Game 5* 10/26 10/27 - WS - Game 6* 10/28 - WS - Game 7*
  10. So we all agree now that Dunning should get the ball if there is a game three in the wild card round?
  11. There are cheap alternatives to Engel that would still allow us to upgrade the rotation.
  12. Tyler Clippard will always piss me off because we didn’t get a good second piece in the Kahnle, Frazier, Robertson trade. Make him pay for that Luis!
  13. The voters are going to pretend the #1 team in the AL doesn’t exist?
  14. I blame the McCann stans for jinxing poor James tonight
  15. And before anyone gets too excited, I’m simply trolling the McCann stans
  16. I love McCann, but it’s amazing how much worse behind the plate he is than Yasmani
  17. Yeah, this isn’t the playoffs, let Dane work through and not tax the bullpen this early.
  18. Yup, Engel’s defense alone in RF is more valuable than Mazara.
  19. Technically Hostetler ran the 2015 draft after our 1st round pick. We didn’t have 2nd or 3rd picks but he did select Mendick in the 22nd round!
  20. The first time the organization avoids nepotism the player is actually worth a damn.
