Jerry isn’t going to wait that long to compete. For better or worse, we need to be ready to go by 2026. Not that I’m suggesting it’s likely, but if you could in theory get both Kjerstad & Westberg you’d have a sizable wave of young positional guys who could be ready for war by 2026. And to their credit, a multi-year tanking doesn’t really add much value with the revised draft rules.
-
So you wouldn’t want Kjerstad either then?
-
Why the f*** are we comparing Jordan Westburg to Nicky Lopez?
-
I think they bring in a bigger name. My gut tells me it will be Randal Grichuk, although the lack of Royal experience could be problem there.
-
Pretty wild that Vera & Cespedes don’t even warrant consideration for the top 30. And damn did Erick Gonzalez have a bad year. The big ticket LatAm signings not paying off very well. At least some of the lower level ones are.
-
Kjerstad + Westburg?
-
Elias just isn’t serious about making a trade or winning for that matter. Time to wait out Cashman until he panics. No way Marcus fucking Stroman is making him feel warm & fuzzy about his pitching staff right now.
-
Also, based on Harold’s comment, should be assuming that Gallo is a high probability option for the RF spot?
-
I know I’d pay top dollar to see watch Adam Duvall play baseball.
-
That’s a fair point. Just of curiosity…where would you place him? Surprised to see Burke & Leasure as high as they are. Sounds like the latter has really good stuff but the fact he is a reliever only surely limits his value. And I would have expected Burke to drop further after was mostly a lost season. Taylor at #13 wouldn’t feel all that off to me.
-
Sounds like Duvall is down to the Red Sox & Angels. Hopefully LA is the winner and then pairs him with Snell to help successfully replace Ohtani (lol).
-
It’s nice not having 2nd round picks from the prior draft automatically awarded a top 10 ranking because there is actual talent ahead of them.
-
If you’re adding scumbags & assholes, you might as well as add Urias as well. Cease Bauer Urias Clevinger Fedde Not actually serious in wanting these guys, but could be a decent rotation.
-
Our run differential was 319 runs worse than the Twins last year and have added a bunch of garbage. We aren’t close to being a RF away from winning the division.

Sox looking at building in South Loop
Chicago White Sox replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
You may not have a choice unless you refuse to pay your state income taxes ? -
So you’re basically saying you have this in place for 2026: 1B: Basallo 2B: Ortiz SS: Holliday 3B: Henderson LF: Mayo CF: Bradfield RF: Cowser CA: Rutschman DH: Mountcastle With Norby, Beavers, & Horvath as likely fall back options plus three 1st round picks this year and other LatAm guys who could emerge. Just give us Kjerstad & Westburg for Cease and let’s call it a day. You get to keep all your main studs, keep all your positional depth, and all your pitching prospects. And when Cease leaves after the 2025 season, you will get another 1st round pick to add to your endless stable of draft assets. I know you can feel it in your heart it’s the right thing to do. If Getz weren’t such a nice guy, he’d be demanding Mayo in a deal and rightfully so. But at the end of the day, this is a very happy compromise for both sides. Just say yes so we can put an end to this cycle of circular debates.

More likely he suggests Nashville is another option to ensure we are properly kicked in the balls -

This would literally be a dream come true if were to happen. Hopefully this ends up being Jerry’s final olive branch for decades of terrible ownership. -
Agree…and I don’t think anything below 88 wins will cut it in the AL next year (unless you are the Twins of course). Let me ask you this. What would your 2026 lineup look like if you didn’t have Kjerstad & Westburg. Who is starting where and what depth would you have in the event of some young guys busting?
-
Preller has balls of steel though…Elias is completely afraid to lose a deal. AJ may be a total prick and failed to get over that final hump, but god damn you got to respect his aggressiveness in trying to get SD a championship.
-
Also, I don’t buy for a second that Marcus Stroman is stopping the Yankees from adding Dylan Cease. While the national media does typically overrate their prospects, there is still a lot to like there and they offer us much more ceiling than the Orioles. TBH, every time I dive deep into their top 10 or so guys, the more I like them more than the second tier stuff the O’s have to offer.
-
I’m really worried for you guys. If Elias keeps hugging and doesn’t add a quality SP, I think there is real risk of the O’s being the odd man out of the AL playoff race if they experience any sort of bad luck (injury, regression, etc). Hopefully he comes to his senses and adds a high end starter, but it doesn’t seem like he is a very reasonable person. Admittedly he’s very good at identifying & developing young talent, but he seems to lack the killer instinct that GMs who are serious about winning championships typically have.

Get’s current asking price has to be higher than most here are thinking. I’m still optimistic conversations get more serious in the coming weeks.
