  1. I don’t think we’re purposely tanking, but I do think Jerry is forcing budget cuts to make up for any losses he endured last year and Getz doesn’t want to spend his limited funds on C tier free agents who require multi-year deals. In fairness to Chris, it does make sense to use 2024 as a “see what you have” type season and start pushing in some chips next off-season.
  2. I’m still holding out hope that those guys are just intended to be cheap placeholders. But it’s harder to believe that if Getz is all-in on pitching in a potential Cease trade.
  3. Looking at next year’s free agent class, hope you boys are excited when they sell us Anthony Santander as the second coming in RF. I’m more or less going to guarantee he will be our 2025 opening day RF.
  4. Where did you see this? Not doubting you, just curious of the source.
  5. JR’s dream is a rotation full of soft tossing lefties who know how to “pitch” and a lineup full of David Eckstein’s. Let’s pray to the baseball gods that Getz doesn’t feel the same way.
  6. The sad part is I truly believe BAL wants Cease. You look at that rotation and it’s razor thin. I know everyone will say they won 101 games and don’t need to do anything, but I don’t really believe that for a second. One big injury in the rotation could be significantly disruptive for them. Elias isn’t dumb and I’m sure he knows this. If he were in the AL Central, then maybe he feels he can wait it out until the deadline (although not sure prices will be much better), but that’s a tough proposition in the AL East. Would hate to see a perfect match with them go to waste because Getz is determined to get pitching back in return.
  7. Gotta love Chris Getz handicapping the market by focusing on a specific need instead of just going for best talent
  8. Time to set the panic alarms ??? @SoCalChiSox - No savages are on the horizon unfortunately.
  9. Honestly, Snell & Montgomery are the only TOR starters left and I think many clubs that can afford them will be against big dollars to either of them.
  10. The Angels just don’t have much left…that Giolito trade was truly a disaster for them and cost them a big chunk of their prospect currency.
  11. Lots of Snell to the Angels or Giants smoke. To me, I really hope that he ends up with the Angels given they aren’t a player for Cease. Regardless, hopefully he moves quick here and Cease becomes the focal point of the SP market.
  12. No one here is expecting Jackson Holiday and the rumor is that’s what Hahn was asking for as the starting point at the deadline.
  13. I mean, go look at his extension numbers. I’m no pitching expert, but it’s very clear something changed mechanically.
  14. Which again suggests your valuation process is FY = PY x 1
  15. You think there were 175+ qualified pitchers in baseball last year?
  16. Comparing the NFL to the MLB from a parity standpoint is absolutely ridiculous.
  17. He’s going to be the only Sox fan upset if we do in fact get a haul.
  18. rWAR as in Baseball Reference’s WAR? If so, they don’t account for the s%*# defense that Cease played behind last year, so not sure why you’d use that version of the stat.
  19. Yup, blame the Brewers for not spending at the levels of the Dodgers when their regional TV deal is worth 10% of LA’s.
  20. I hope Balta cries when we ultimately receive all these stud prospects for Cease
  21. I hope Mike Elias cries when he ultimately gives up all these stud prospects for Cease.
  22. We’re talking about having enough pitching in your system, so I’m not sure how any of this applies. No one is saying let’s go sign a bunch of relievers or #5 type starters to multi-years contracts or anything like that.
