  1. The Sox signed five high school hitters from this year’s draft. If you mean with their #1 pick, I can’t really fault them for taking Madrigal over Gorman or Kelenic. Polished college hitters are scarce and typically taken at the top of draft. Not surprising we went in that direction when there wasn’t an elite high school positional prospect to consider.
  2. I can not wait until next year when we’ll have Burdi & Hamilton in these situations rather than Juan fucking Minaya.
  3. Hand injuries frequently result in a lack of power. That’s not an excuse, that’s called a fucking reason. God you’re insufferable.
  4. Moncada just missed a slam!!? But still awesome result!
  5. The only guy who is underperforming in the power department IMO is Sheets. Rutherford has shown increased power vs. last year and is still a twig. And were you really expecting much power out of Madrigal this year? You’re also ignoring Basabe & Adolfo who showed quite a bit of power during their stints. Again, to me it’s really just Sheet who has been a massive disappointment.
  6. I’m pretty sure the expectation was Robert wouldn’t flash much power this year do to his thumb injury. Regardless, it’s probably best to be patient with him next year and start the season off in W-S again. We have enough guys ahead of him that we might as give him as much as it takes to allow him to reach his ceiling.
  7. The AA rotation is going to be packed again between Dunning, Hansen, Lambert, Flores, Medeiros, Puckett, & potentially Clarkin. I’d definitely start Cease in AAA, nothing else to prove at this point.
  8. Madrigal’s OBP is 60 points higher than his BA right now. Obviously we can’t bank on him getting by this many pitches forever, but I think if he bats .300+ his OBP will be more than fine.
  9. Stop evaluating prospects during their signing season. The results typically mean nothing.
  10. Kopech had nearly spent a full season in AAA and was coming off a seven game stretch in which he was probably the most dominant pitcher in minor league baseball. It would have been impossible to look him in the eye and tell him he needed start the 2019 season down in AAA. While Jimenez has been insanely good at AAA and is no doubt ready for the show, he’s had less than 200 PA’s down there. It’s far less egregious to keep him down there until mid April. Whether they actually go through with that I have no idea, but if you put a gun to my head I’d say he’s up August 30th.
  11. Also, pretty sure Spencer Adams called one of his buddies a gay slur on Twitter a year or two ago. If you’re reading this Spencer, go delete that tweet ASAP.
  12. Obviously this isn’t a good look, but 17 years old do say stupid things. I hope people are willing to accept that those comments don’t automatically reflect his current thinking on things.
  13. Remember, this is a guy who takes any random sample and argues it reflects future performance. See David Bote for reference.
  14. Lol...nothing like the internet tough guy using the benefit of hindsight to call others stupid.
  15. I mean, the biggest difference is he’s striking out an additional 3 batters per 9 innings in AA. Park factor should have nothing to do with that.
  16. Ok cool, Fangraphs will need to eat some serious crow when they do their offseason list. And wasn’t their reliever comment only a few weeks ago? No idea how they came to that conclusion if they’ve been following the kid this year.
  17. You can only send so many guys below AA and Robert has a much stronger case to make the cut.
  18. A Kopech/Rodon/Cease trio could be pretty insane. And we have a ton of other interesting arms to fill up a staff. While Sale would be awesome, I’d still rather add a Machado or Arenado.
  19. Yes I did...didn’t he ace two guys like that?
