  1. Remember, we need to get them prepared for their future platoon roles in the majors.
  2. The answer is we don’t really know, but I’m not sure Steverson accomplished anything that warrants giving him the benefit of the doubt. And when it comes to seeing zero progress from the former #1 overall prospect in baseball, I don’t think we have much of a choice but try something new.
  3. Evaluating our pitching staff based on ERA is completely ignoring the bandbox in which we play in.
  4. Time for the Covey starting experiment to end it seems.
  5. We certainly shouldn’t trade him just to trade him, but you have to listen and be willing to pull the trigger if someone is willing to make a Quintana type offer. Paying him $200M is an incredibly risky proposition for someone with his track record of health. I’m all for offering him an extension this offseason that buys out a year or two of free agency, but that’s simply not likely with Boras as his agent. So the reality quickly becomes losing him for nothing right when our competitive window is opening or trade him for a haul now. The best course of action is to probably wait and see what happens with the whale free agents and react accordingly. If we can somehow land Machado, then that speeds up the rebuild timeline enough to keep Rodon. If not, test the waters and see anyone is willing to pay a haul for Carlos. If we trade Rodon this offseason, we can always use the prospect capital acquired to land a controllable starter in a year or two when the rest of the pieces are in place.
  6. Realistically? Probably not. If someone offers a Quintana package we should probably take it. The problem is there aren’t a ton of contenders with systems deep enough to acquire someone like Rodon. The Padres could make some hella interesting offers. The Yankees & Braves could probably pull it off too. Who else after that makes sense? The A’s would have the chips, but would they be willing to commit multiple cost-controlled assets into three years of Rodon? The other problem is the Mets have a couple arms that will likely be on the market and both have better track records of being TOR starters.
  7. There will be some real talent there. And you didn’t mention any of the pitchers. We added a ton of interesting arms in this last draft.
  8. Do not call them up at this point. Would be an absolute waste. And I say this as someone who wanted them both up in July.
  9. Gonzalez is a fucking stud. He’s earned a promotion to AA, but probably not worth it at this point.
  10. Guerrero with a fantastic start.
  11. You don’t see a utility infielder rip the ball like that too often ?
  12. Maybe they'll hire you if you write old Wilpon a letter!
  13. What happened to Hansen? Has he made a start for the Dash yet?
  14. If you’re evaluating a player based on one metric, you’re doing it wrong. He can most certainly be an everyday player with his mix of speed, power, & base-running. And his BABIP is well below his major & minor league averages, so his BA & OBP should hopefully improve long-term. I see Tim as a league average hitter who can play above average defense & provide base running value. That’s a 3+ WAR player IMO.
  15. WTF? I like you Jack, but I have no idea what similarities you see between Avi & Eloy. Jimenez is arguably the second best hitter in the minors right now after Vlad Junior. Avi was never in the same stratosphere as a hitter or prospect.
  16. Rick Hahn may prove to be a terrible GM, but it won’t be because he never wore a varsity jacket. And him going to Harvard & Northwestern for graduate degrees are only good things, no matter how badly some here would like to spin it otherwise.
  17. Why in the world do you think that? I have no idea why you’re so down on Eloy when he has done nothing but hit since joining this organization.
  18. No idea. I wouldn’t sign either guy for more than 1 or 2 years though. I only want to add vets if they can serve as transitions to the kids, not block them.
  19. Why the fuck does this matter at all? What kind of experience did Jeff Luhnow have exactly? Oh right, nothing since high school and yet he just built the best team in baseball. You got to move off this ridiculous tangent man.
  20. If they give 600 AB’s to any of those CFs, then Rick should be fired on the spot. Playing time is an asset during a rebuild. Other than Leury, who is made of glass, none of them has done anything to warrant an extended look next year. Sign a vet that can take some pressure off the kids and potentially be flipped if things go right. I’m all for Machado, but if we miss I have no problem with a vet for a year and try at Arenado the following offseason.
