  1. I don’t really care about wins for starting pitchers, but good god it sucks that Lucas & Lopez both bring it and neither gets a win.
  2. Either you’re a troll or not intelligent. Yoan’s OPS in July was .749, which was above his season to date total. But keep hating and ignoring actual facts.
  3. What if another team says the same thing? ?
  4. Between Hahn’s comments in the podcast and his actions during the trade deadline, I think it’s very clear he plans on putting together a respectable club next year and one that could compete in a weak AL Central if enough young guys take leaps forward. In addition of pursuing the elite guys (Machado & Harper), he made it clear we’ll be very open to adding veterans on short-term deals. 3B, CF, & 1B/DH seem like the areas to me. Maybe they add a veteran SP too. Doesn’t sound he views the bullpen as a huge need based on the way he to was hyping up some of our minor league relievers.
  5. Also, whoever downvoted ChiSox59’s awesome recap of the Hahn podcast should be banned from this site. Anyone that would do that is a total little b**** and I wish they at least had the courage to come out & explain whatever misguided beef they had with the post.
  6. Your take is very wrong IMO. He specifically mentioned that whale FA’s aren’t always available and it can be smart to take advantage of those opportunities when they present themselves. And that’s 100% the right approach. We can’t make on any of the top tier guys signing with us, so the best plan of attack is throwing our money at all of them and hoping we land one of them. Waiting on Arenado greatly decreases our chances of landing a whale. Also, it was pretty clear IMO that we’ll be pursuing Machado & Harper this offseason based on Hahn’s overall comments tone.
  7. He specifically referenced OF’s when discussing the prospect for prospect concept and that clearly makes a ton of sense. 3B would definitely be the biggest area of need.
  8. Doesn’t Dozier being traded prevent him from costing a draft pick?
  9. I think sad & pathetic are better descriptions, but ultimately this is the internet and not too surprising.
  10. He’s clearly one of them. I speculate there are few others here who spend their day waiting for anything remotely positive about Moncada and eagerly hit that downvote button.
  11. No, it’s a not legitimate question. Not one single GM would trade a 23 year old 70 FV grade prospect who put 2.5 WAR in his first 162 games for a 55 FV prospect. The entire premise is idiotic and borderlines on trolling. Do you have any idea how much career WAR a 55 FV prospect is projected to provide? Maybe around 6 to 8 WAR total. Yoan will surpass that in two to three years most likely. I honestly don’t know how anyone could propose something so ridiculous unless they refuse to accept Moncada in his current state isn’t a bad player.
  12. I honestly can’t think of a more polarizing figure on SoxTalk in recent memory than Moncada. Pretty much every post that mentions him has like two likes & two confused faces.
  13. Probably multiple factors. I’m sure Jiménez leaving has had some impact, but I also think he focusing more on defense in the second half. What are the K rates like 1st vs. 2nd half?
  14. Next year we should have Madrigal, Basabe, Adolfo, Rutherford, Gonzalez, Sheets, & Rivera at AA. Robert might be there too depending on how he shows in the AFL and I wouldn’t be surprised if Burger gets there pretty quickly next year as well. Point is most of these guys are a 1 1/2 to 2 years out. That sets us up perfectly to add some free agents on short-term deals like you said. I would think that 3B, CF, & maybe even 1B/DH would be priority areas for us. If we miss on Machado, Dozier on a one year deal makes a ton of sense. I’d also love to add Daniel Murphy to play 1B and move Jose to DH. Both of those guys could be difference makers in the lineup with bounce back seasons. CF is tough because none the free agent options are overly attractive. I would love to add a guy like Cutch on a two year deal, but playing him in CF seems like a recipe for disaster for a young pitching staff.
  15. Don’t forget MonKada isn’t half the defender Babe Schwarber is!!
  16. It’s like your actively rooting against him. The hate you have for him is beyond creepy.
  17. No, people come to his defense because most of the negative comments make him off to be the worst player in baseball history and ignore the fact he’s a 23 year old still developing. Some posters here have a creepy emotional attachment to Yoan because he was the centerpiece in the Sale deal and are actually bitter he’s not an instant star. It’s frustrating to stand by as the vocal minority here talks about how he’s a bust, that he’s lost all his trade value, or how he’ll lose the job to Madrigal in a year. Most of us accept Moncada is not a finished product & must get better for the rebuild to work, but can also acknowledge he’s not a bad player in his current state despite what the small group of haters here want to believe.
  18. Lol...AZL Sox postponed cause of wind. I’m sure it was justified, just sounds ridiculous.
  19. Nothing wrong with comparing them if the context is they are farther along in their development. Unfortunately you try use their current performance as proof they will always be better players long term which is quite absurd. And quite frankly, you bring up this point like once a day. We all understand your position that young plays are stars or busts after 600 plate appearances. At this point you’re either using this site as forum to whine relentlessly about a kid not being an instant stud or you’re simply looking for attention. Either way it’s really annoying and bringing down the overall quality of board. Why don’t you try bringing something new to the table for once?
  20. Us and we’d be laughing while doing so.
