  1. For a while I thought that would be the case, but he's running a bit cold right now. My guess is they let him build some confidence in the coming weeks and eventually call him before the end of the year. Just not sure that happens in the next two weeks.
  2. Lol...I wanted to get rid of him, but who is the backup CF if we were play Leury there everyday? I just don’t see how we can have a three man bench (including Smith) and have those guys be two of Davidson, Palka, & Delmonico. We really need Cordell to come up & save the day, but that may not be until September at this point.
  3. Surprisingly Brewers fans were pretty upset to see Medeiros go. While I’m a big fan of the move on our end, I can’t wait for the days when we can trade prospects of his caliber to help shoot for a playoff spot. It’s amazing to me how much fans in competive organizations tend to overrate second tier prospects.
  4. I’ll go first: Hamilton called up (takes Soria’s spot) Avalin traded / Bummer called up Cedeno traded / Danish called up Shields traded / Kopech called up Stephens called up / Volstad DFA Jones reinstated / Santiago DFA Jimenez called up / Delmonico optioned to AAA
  5. Alright, so from I can tell the Sox have not announced who is replacing Soria on the 25 man roster. Additonally, there should be a bunch more moves in the coming days and weeks. So here’s my question: What are the roster moves you see happening between now and the middle of August? This is not a trade prediction thread, so you need don’t to list any returns as part of this discussion.
  6. I’m pretty sure he’s talking about a top 25 overall prospect like Hand just landed.
  7. He’s only got one more year of control and the Sox have Bummer sitting in AAA waiting for another opportunity. I don’t see the point in holding onto him.
  8. I had him 9th when everyone did their mid-season updates, but I think you can make a strong argument for him being neck & neck with Dunning for that sixth spot. I’m super high on Basabe.
  9. Cedeno or Avalin. A lot of teams could use left-handed relief help. Shields will be more of an acquired taste. I still feel like Leury is the wild card here though.
  10. Bummer for sure. Vieira will get a look at some point too. Hornstly, if you took out Fry, Charlotte might have a better bullpen than the Sox with Soria gone. Part of that is just how awful Santiago, Volstad, & Minaya have been.
  11. He’s learned how to get on-base at a high clip this year. He’s got a chance to be a pretty damn good 4th OF IMO.
  12. We’re talking about OBP. Jimenez should be at least be average since he’ll hit for high average. Collins has the second most walks in professional baseball. Basabe is walking at about a 12% rate. Zavala draws walks in the double digits. Those are probably the next four positional prospects of importance to hit the show.
  13. It’s based on the Southern League, but not park adjusted I believe. He’s also a 21 year old still adjusting to the league though. A wRC+ of 105 wouldn’t be great if that’s what he peaked at (ignoring the Birmingham factor), but he’s already trending upwards. For reference he put up a wRC+ of 143 in High A this year. He was basically one of the best hitters in that league and his plate discipline remains roughly intact at AA. It’s really the power that’s creating the difference and that’s starting to show up now.
  14. Really like this move. Kid seems to be making progress as of late. Here’s his stats since June 1st (9 starts & 1 relief appearance): 53 IP, 2.04 ERA, 3.10 FIP, 10.9 K/9, 3.57 BB/9, 3.05 K/BB, 0.51 HR/9
  15. Kid had a wRC+ of 105 coming into tonight as a 21 year old CF still adjusting to AA. Now the power we saw at A+ is starting to materialize as expected. I’ve said it before, but if he was in the Yankees system he’d be a top 70 prospect right now. IMO, he’s our clear #3 OF prospect behind Jimenez & Robert.
  16. Probably saving his arm for his major league debut next week.
  17. Yeah, I could dig this. I go back and forth on Covey, but I would like to see Stephens get a look. I’d also DFA Santiago and call up Danish to be the mop up guy.
  18. With Sheets it’s clearly a launch angle issue. He hits way too many balls on the ground in games I’ve watched. That can hopefully be addressed during the offseason and his 70 grade raw power should allow for improvement next year even in Birmingham.
  19. Legit question, but can Madrigal be like a .330 hitter in the pros? Someone like him should have a higher than average BABIP and if he never strikes out, his BA & BABIP shouldn’t be too far apart.
  20. But I thought Wake Forest has Statcast data or something similar and based on that info Sheets’ power was legit?
  21. I mean, Avi’s walked like three times all season and the rest of the lineup outside of Moncada, Davidson, & Narvaez are below average at drawing walks. It’s a real issue. The good news is we have several prospects coming who should help solve that problem.
  22. Madrigal with an infield single to start off game 2. Still no strikeouts.
  23. We aren’t keeping both Avalin & Cedeno, at least one of them will be moved if not both.
  24. Kopech, Cease, & Adams too, but no huge issues there IMO.
