Voted minors all season for the reasons Balta outlined above.

You guys are gonna look real foolish when Financial Flexibility wins the AL MVP.

Depending on how they perform early on I might swap "Louis" and Tim, but otherwise that looks correct. Would be a nice lineup.

Tony's gotta have his boy.
It'd be fine, I guess. It's not they'd be leaning on him heavily (barring catastrophic circumstances of course).

It's been an absolutely brutal stretch lately. RIP to the best to ever do the dang thing.

When it comes down to it, I think it's dumb for the Yankees to spend $200 million, have guys like Cole, Stanton, and Judge, and leave that hole in their rotation unnecessarily.
I agree with you, but I feel like Steinbrenner don't

It seems like the Yankees are loathe to get into tax territory, even after resetting their penalty last year. They could but I don't think it's likely.
Giants, Jays, Twins, Angels or Braves seem like the obvious fits but I can't see the Twins or Braves committing that kinda scratch to one player.

Crazy if you think the springer deal was fine
25 million a year for 6 years? Guy will be awful in three years
There's really no reason to think this. It might be true, but I would say its more likely he is still very good in 3 years. It's not like his game is entirely dependent on speed or he is a huge injury risk.

Damn, that Jays lineup is scary as hell.

I have never meant this more than I do right now: You Love to See It.

Yeah in 4 years he will be 36. Not many 36 year olds getting mega paid these days. He took the extra 10+ mil and is set for his career, whether he is still great in 4 years or not.

I assume Grandal will DH a few times as well.
Given how often Sox DH acquisitions fall flat, i'm fine with them not spending here.

Rick getting freaky with this one
Can't complain about the results.

Was it a general Coop project to get guys to stop throwing curveballs, or is that just these guys specifically?

I think even impeachment is a pipe dream - 138 congresspeople, even after everything that happened yesterday, voted to not certify PA results. The rot is too deep in congress to even get common sense things done.

That Rogers ballot makes me feel bad about baseball and life in general.
Also this would be the first time in a while no one is elected, right? Like, quite a few years?
I answered my own question - in 2013, the BBWAA inducted 0 players into the HOF. The veterans committee did, however. Prior to that, you have to go back to 1996 to find another 0-fer.

Prellar is gonna get the Dombrowski treatment if the Pads don't win this year.

What if instead of trying to get a #4 starter for our fourth starter spot we tried to get a #3 starter and just made a better rotation than competitors.
Based on Szymborski's ZIPS projections, the Sox already had the 2nd best rotation in the division PRIOR TO the Lynn trade. They should handily have the best rotation at this point.

Very few teams can afford to do what the Dodgers, Yankees and Red Sox do and consistently try to build super-rosters. When they do dabble in those depths, they tend to fall apart pretty quickly (see the 2020 Nationals, the early 2010's Phillies, the 2015 Padres, and the Mets at various stages) when they run out of prospect capital and can't afford any more bloat.
I do wish JR/Hahn were a bit more aggressive but it's not a totally binary choice between cheap/failure and expensive/successful. The Sox are trying to walk the middle path and I hope they are able to pull it off. At this point, what else can you do but hope?

The White Sox last year feasted and destroyed really bad teams and then got beat by teams over 500. So magically this is now a world series team based on adding Lynn and Eaton. I would take the Padres over this team right now. Especially with Jerry dumpster diving for bargains.
I guess the good news is that the Sox don't have to play the Padres. They do have to play Kansas City and Detroit (presumably) 36 times, though.
-
The big difference is that the Padres have to beat LA.
The White Sox have to beat a Twins team that hasn't even re-signed their star offensive player. Who is 40, btw.
Edit - I should include that the Sox also have to beat a Cleveland team that traded their former ace last season and have talked actively about trading their MVP-caliber shortstop.

Agreed. If he was just above .500 for his career would they have fired him? Insisted on treatment? I think they are out of their depth on this one. I liked silence better than this statement.
It's infuriating. "Tony is weawwy sowwy that he got caught driving loaded and he's going to put on his Big Boy Pants and Try Real Hard not to get caught driving loaded again and by the way did you remember that he won a bunch forever ago?"

If it's a change, it's a shallow one. How many Porters or Calloways aren't being reported because of fear of reprisal? I don't think any real culture shift is happening unless fans demand it.
