  1. I knida see the possibility of Ryno mending fences with the Flubs if they fire Quade once the new GM gets hired.
  2. I like it, cost control in his peak years. I know someone mentioned he does not have the killer instinct but let's see how he does in 2012. He did blow some save opportunities but so did a vast majority of the closers out there. The top 15 closers each blew an average of 5 games (With only Valverde being a perfect 49/49) so there you go. For the age and actual experience I will take it. He should get a little better. http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/sortable.jsp?c_id...Player+pitching
  3. I've seem some speculation that ARam could be a target. He has even stated his desire to go down to Miami to be closer to his home.
  4. Another wildcard is to just keep Danks and offer him Arb after next season and hope he has a great year and he walks. We get 2 comp picks that should be decent even if he barely makes type B status. Here hoping he rebounds in such a scenario. Although he could have easily been 12-12 or 13-11/14-10. He had a few starts with 0 run support IIRC.
  5. Let's hope he retools the FO somehat and truly delegates the talent judging to someone qualified.
  6. Could this be true? Thoughts? Link: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AgeL...esox-afterozzie Article: CHICAGO (AP)—White Sox general manager Ken Williams says he offered to step aside or take another job in the organization after some of his offseason moves failed to pan out and the team floundered. Williams made his comments in the dugout the day after manager Ozzie Guillen was released from his contract with one year remaining. Guillen is expected to become the Marlins’ new manager. Williams says he made the offer to owner Jerry Reinsdorf and would have understood if the White Sox wanted to put someone else in his seat. Chicago will miss the playoffs for a third straight season. Williams reiterated Tuesday he has a short list of candidates to replace Guillen and already has started to work on finding a successor
  7. Would be interesting and really free the Flubs of another of their hideous contracts. I don't think it ill happen but who knows. Link: http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2011-09...-coleman-padres Article: SAN DIEGO -- The Cubs reached the 90-loss mark for the sixth time in the last 15 seasons on Monday after a 2-0 loss to the Padres. Casey Coleman pitched well before tiring in the two-run sixth after tripling in the top of the inning. But the Cubs were held to two hits on the night by Mat Latos and the Padres bullpen. "It's been a long year and I got a little winded after that," Coleman said. Coleman finished with a 3-9 record and a 6.40 earned-run average, calling the year a "learning experience." Perhaps the only positive of the night for the Cubs was White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen leaving to ostensibly take the same job in Florida, which means the Cubs have a ready suitor to take Carlos Zambrano off their hands this offseason. Zambrano has one year remaining on his contract, but Chairman Tom Ricketts has already said that it's unlikely he'll play again for the Cubs. Zambrano is close friends with Guillen, and there's a good chance they could both take their talents to South Beach in 2012. Manager Mike Quade, whose future is also uncertain, didn't have much to say about Guillen's departure. "I know it's been rough over there," he said. "That's a whole different world that I have no interest in getting involved in. We've got enough stuff to deal with over here." Quade said Aramis Ramirez will likely be back in the lineup on Tuesday after missing the last five games with a sore right quad. Ramirez is leaving as a free agent and may also be interested in joining Guillen in Miami. The Marlins are moving into a new stadium and will have to boost the payroll in 2013 after making a big splash with Guillen. [email protected]
  8. Fangraphs has De Aza's 2011 UZR at 2.2 which is a relatively small sample size. I am still quite keen to see him get good jumps in any outfield position although his ideal position is CF. But the logic has him as the heir apparent to J Pierre. I hope we can start to build something good with the young core in some positions.
  9. On a serious note and back to baseball, if De Aza can keep up a .360-.370 OBP and steal 30-40 bags I would be happy with that if he gets a chance. His defense seems to be good from what I have read. I say why not. Let him go into ST with the job as his to lose.
  10. New article up by Van Dyke, sorted of related but the quote at the bottom really killed me by KW. Says he doesn't really see a reason to change the direction of the ship with regards to Ozzie. Oh boy!! 2012 here we come with more drama!! Link: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0,2605712.story White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said he was tired of talking about his job status every day – even though he did again as the last homestand opened Friday – and general manager Kenny Williams apparently agrees. “I’m just listening right now,” Williams said when asked what was happening with Guillen. “We have one week to go in the season and we’ll get to all of that soon enough. No need to rush it.” Asked if he, Guillen and chairman Jerry Reinsdorf would sit down soon, Williams said: “I would rather do it privately. Whether or not we have plans to sit down or when, how, what the ultimate result is going to be is dangerous (speculation). And it’s unnecessary. I know it hasn’t been exactly private, but I think it’s better served if it is. “That it’s a more respectful way of doing business.” Guillen is signed through next season, but is seeking an extension. It is possible Reinsdorf will tell Guillen he isn’t getting one and he either manages that last year or quits and goes to Florida. Williams still has great influence with Reinsdorf and, in fact, recommended the coaching staff get contract extensions after a disastrous 2007 season. “I’m not one that easily will give up the ship and change course of direction,” Williams said. “I’m in the listening phase right now and that’s all I can do. We’ll see where we end up as a result. Ozzie’s got some ideas that I think he’s still developing. We’ll see.”

  12. Why would anyone sacrifice their career knowing that if they did? Just sayin....
  13. Isn't baseball getting way too complicated with sabremetrics?
  14. I almost wanted to pose the question of him leading off, but was not sure if he is the type of leadoff man we need. I think so, hits for average and can run.
  15. Hey Caul, if he visited China would you hope he would be near you so you could track him down and give him a piece of your mind? :lolhitting
  16. Unfortunately a CBA cannot include international contract negotiations when obtaining talent from other leagues can it? The Japanese league is the only one I know of that we have to compensate. The Mexican league is considered a AAA league for MLB. How strange is that.
  17. He's comin my way, I will force him to read some Soxtalk posts. :lolhitting
  18. According to COT's he should be a FA after the 2012 season.
  19. Is he a possible corner outfield option to replace Pierre? He has some pop and can run (10/15 SB's). If he improives this small sample size he could be a base running threat. I haven't seen a De Aza thread so thought I would create one in anticipation of 2012 and that his effort going forward has mase him worthy to mention. He is hitting his prime years and maybe has really turned it around. His stat line for this year is quite good with BA/OBP/OPS. Small sample size since his call up. 20. We have all said what a true gentleman and class act he is and has been. Anyone think he will have enough credentials/clout to be mentioned for the HOF?
  21. If Yu Darvish decides to come to MLB next year would it be a possibility that the Yankees go after him? He has excellent peripherals with a career 2.12 ERA, a 3.28 K/BB ratio, and 974 strikeouts in 1036.1 innings for the Nippon Ham Fighters. He's best known to North American fans from his terrific performance at the 2009 World Baseball Classic that helped lead Japan to the title. Didn't post this in the Pale Hose forum since I think there is less than a 0% chance we would ever think of going after him. Most recent news on web I could find: http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/...ter-yu-darvish/ Thoughts?
  22. That right there, is absolutely inexcusable by Ozzie. His stubbornness really cost us this year in more ways than one. And yet he just keeps coming to work and shooting his mouth off. Wow, just wow.
  23. They still have the option to tell Dunn/his agent to retire. Couldn´t hurt.
  24. Yup, he was a victim of the KW-Ozzie tugowar!!!!!!!!!!!!
