QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 12, 2009 -> 02:19 AM) Ever notice the Twins have a lot of quotes like this? They are ornery pricks much of the time. Is Corky capable of getting a couple hits in a single game a lot? Nice to see AJ get a rest and have his replacement get 2 hits. If he was, he`d never been available in the 1st place.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 11, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) Most people said Bartolo was low 90's for at least a chunk of the day, Farmer said he topped out at 93. The radar gun had AJ`s tossbacks at 105, so I wouldn`t put to much stock in those 90+ readings, but he did pitch well.

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Mar 30, 2009 -> 07:19 AM) Michigan State played very well, I found myself cheering for Sparty because Lucus Oil was so predominatly Loiusville. I much prefer Louisville's style, but I was glad Sparty got it done since I was in the areaa. Uconn should be way to much though. Then again, maybe not.

QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Apr 6, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) Wow, my Heels vs. Sparty for the national title. Hopefully Uncle Roy and the Heels can get one more tonight and bring the crown back to "blue heaven". Wasn`t Steve Martin in that movie? Seriously though, I won`t wish the Heels luck, because with their talent they don`t need any. I`m really hoping My Spartans can give them a game, and somehow pull off the upset of the year.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 04:36 PM) Bump, b****es I bumped an arrogant UCONN booster at WSI, in return i received a nasty E-mail from thread name "Nellie Fox" to NEVER EVER bump a thread. Even though I love his thread name, that`s a man who needs a security blanket.

What is the main problem with Fields defensively?
4 points replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Field`s problem defensively is that " He moves like Pond Water". -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 09:59 PM) Agreed, and the same argument can be applied to Dotel. Thankfully, Dotel at least has his health. Physically yes, it`s the mental part that worries me about Dotel. As for Linebrink, I fully expect a ton of DL time this year.

Getz #6, Fields #8 on list of Top 30 "breakout"

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 4, 2009 -> 04:03 AM) candidates... http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writ...yers/index.html Good to see Josh and especially Getz getting some early recognition for their efforts. Let's hope that ST doesn't turn out to be a mirage for both of these guys and they can carry forward their successes from AZ into the regular season. Some other familiar names on this list, like Javy Vazquez. While I enjoy the Sox love, Werth at 23, and Votto at 30, make this list laughable at best. -
QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) I'm thinking right around 88, give or take a few. I`m thinking take ALOT.

How many errors between Alexei and Josh combined for 2009?
4 points replied to Cubano's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I predict on August the 1st, when Fields comes out of the dugout to take his position at 3rd, the Cell stadium speaker will play " These "BOOTS" are made for walkin". -
QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 29, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) 0 for 4 here, Be Jealous! I have 3 out of four in, only missed on Nova.

QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Mar 23, 2009 -> 12:46 PM) That's funny. UCLA's sites the past three years? San Diego, Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, Anaheim. Shut the f*** up Ben. He`s obviously been infected with the Lute Olsen gene. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 01:51 PM) He's obviously spoiled and realizes how good he is, I won't argue that. He probably will also only be at Illinois only one year as well, two tops. I think he's worth the "hassle" though, if you want to call it that, because he's an amazing talent. Why do I think if you pulled down his trousers, he`d have "Alex Legion" tatooed on his butt. -

QUOTE (The Bones @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 05:42 PM) A question for other Illinois fans like myself. Why didn't Illinois press more? They've had success with it previously (Northwestern). I've tried to forget about this loss by saying WKU was just the better team and I think they were in the first half when they were hitting their shots. But the way Illinois played in the last 5 minutes leads me to believe that this could have been a win for Illinois. If they had put it on for a few minutes in the first half to throw WKU's rhythm off it might have helped. It seems Bruce is sometimes too stubborn to change things up and won't use it until desperation time when it was too late. Oh well, we have good recruits coming in the next few years and we certainly exceeded my expectations this year. It's just tough for a program like Illinois to go three straight years without winning a game in the NCAA Tournament...especially when we had 2 games that were very winnable. Hopefully, we see Chester in some type of assistant role soon. I was really hoping they could win for him...such a tough way for him to go out. The problem with the Illini was simple, for about 20 minutes a game, they couldn`t hit the ocean with North America. Case closed. -
QUOTE (forrestg @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 05:33 PM) sorry going back to the original post "future considerations" what does that mean? another minor leaguer or is the value of future considerations have to do with how Stewart is valued after he goes to the yankees? A draft pick what or when does the yankees have to give back. do we have a choice now or are we offered something later. Somewhere between a bag of balls and a cheap Stogie.

QUOTE (JoeBatterz @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 07:57 PM) Have the Cubbies retired the jersey of Bruce Sutter who won the Cy Young award in 1979 before leaving for the Cardinals were he too won a World Series? Maybe the Nationals can retire the number of Pedro Martinez since he won the Cy Young award with the Expos before they traded him to the Red Sox. Seems a bit goofy to include Maddux when his greatest success was achieved with another team. Why would you want that reminder? Well we did retire Fisk`s number, and his better days were in Boston, we even put up a statue of the guy. If your Cub obsession requires you to post, please try and limit it to non hypocritical hysteria.

QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 12:05 PM) ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yes! The 'other' #31... Ferguson Jenkins... Started more games than any pitcher in Cubs history He's their all-time strikeout leader He's 5th in wins (and most of the other players on the wins list are from a long long time ago) He's 4th all-time in shutouts (ditto on the list of players he's behind... like Mordecai Brown, Hippo Vaughn, etc.) And he's been inducted into the baseball HOF ('91). He is one of the best pitchers I have ever seen in Chicago... an absolute workhorse. I think the way the Cubs organization treated Fergie for so long illustrates how clueless their organization has been for most of the last 40 years. A lot of that was due to his pot bust in montreal.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 15, 2009 -> 09:27 PM) Arizone is pretty much Chicago West. Good Gyros, a Maggianos, a Boca Di Bepo, ETC, it's just a great state in general. What`s a "Boca Di Bepo? Any relation to "Buca Di Beppo"?

QUOTE (Soxpranos @ Mar 20, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) Increase trade value? The more he plays the more his value declines. Way to get his value up at the lead off spot, guy has no clue how to adjust at the plate. Brian Anderson is the South side version of Felix Pie.

Anyone play the ESPN bracket challenge? I hit 14 of 16, missed on Butler and BYU. Quite a few perfect 16`s.
