Should the U.S. adopt English as the Official Language?
Nixon replied to ChiSox_Sonix's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 12:34 PM) You'd rather it was wasted on providing multiple language support to people who move here and won't learn the language? And you really think any of that will change just because English gets a shiny pin attached to its sash saying "OFFICIAL"? -
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) So what's the over/under on the next test based on these "tough" sanctions? I say 10 days from now. I hope it's soon. After watching this: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=F5BEFE1AFB1DAFD1 I can't wait for North Korea to commit national suicide. After they take care of Seoul the UN joint bombing campaign can flatten whatever is left. Happy day!

It's free if you've got a staircase. -
QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 04:41 AM) Zelda was cool far before the wii was ever around, so nice try Steve If playing Zelda on wii is how I am going to have to play Zelda, then so be it. I have a wii here, its not like I bought the thing or something and you can now say "Oh but I thought wii was for little kids" wii is for little kids, there's not much you can say to dispute that. It just so happens that Zelda is Nintendo exclusive and I prolly don't need to explain the rest of that. How old were you when you first played Zelda? Also, House of the Dead Overkill No More Heroes Mad World Decidedly not kiddie games. I'm not a big wii fan but I certainly understand the appeal and that they aren't simply kiddie boxes because their best selling titles can be enjoyed by all ages.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 12:41 PM) I'm generally not that big into FPS games, but I saw the E3 vid of Call of Juarez and it definitely looks like an intriguing game. Not many games have old western settings like that. Bound in Blood looks much better than the first CoJ. I got about halfway through before I got bored with how linear it was. OK for the shootery bits but their awful excuse for stealth/platforming segments... no f***ing thanks. To me it looks like a nice western appetizer before the main course, Red Dead Redemption, at the end of this year.

Zelda is an adult game now?

So yeah, Red Faction Guerrilla continues to be awesome.

Not being able to travel to locations without discovering them was pretty annoying but that's the standard for sandbox games. I was more annoyed by the world design, the stupid story and the completely meaningless karma system. I'm kind of surprised you got lost since there are big giant idiot indicators on the bottom of the screen that hold your hand through the entire game. In other news, there's a demo for Overlord 2 up on XBL right now. I don't know if it's exclusive to gold members or not. Been playing Red Faction: Guerrilla and I f***ing love it. Saints Row meets Total Recall. Campy 80s sci fi action flick with all the fun of a saint's row game (and none of the THUGLIFE s***)... demo is available so try it out before you buy. PS - codes for map pack MAPMAYHEM and the golden hammer HARDHITTER PPS - it is exclusive to gold members.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 07:48 PM) Red Steal 1 sucked. Conduit and Dead Space are the games that looked good from here. Sony really pwned it IMO. If only the PSP Go! didn't leak before E3, it would have been even better. PSP Go lol.

Crackdown 2, Alan Wake, Left 4 Dead 2, and Splinter Cell Conviction all look pretty great to me. Can't wait for those. Wish Sony had some actual game play from Agent, the rockstar game, as that's the only game in their line up that I'll be pre-ordering right away. The Last Guardian looked beautiful but the controls/camera in SOTC put me off so I'll wait and see on that one. Uncharted 2 makes me want to cry, huge draw distances and great graphics with linear game play. AC2's double face stab has been the highlight of the show for me so far. Also, no thanks on all of this motion control nonsense. Works great for any game that's completely on rail but once you involve anything more complex than manipulating objects/shooting at stuff while standing it place I imagine the fun would end pretty quickly. If they had something like natal/the eyetoy ++ working for something like AC2 conveniently I could see using it but it looks like an extension for the minigame market. f*** that. Although the face/voice recognition on natal could have some interesting uses, probably none that we'll see this generation.

It's China's sphere of influence, let them deal with it.

Don't forget to turn your webcam on.

Yeah they are, I'm kind of surprised they went that route since that was the absolute worst thing about Indigo Prophecy (beside the stupid turn the story took in the second half)...

I want more Red Dead Redemption info.

Man. Heavy Rain looks terrible. Not graphically.. I mean gameplay wise. And by that I mean there looks like there is no gameplay at all besides QTEs and walking to the next QTE in a tiny environment. OH BUT LOOK A "GIANT" CLUB! Uhhh... yeah.

It's probably better to keep those weirdos away from this thread anyways.

They were caught off guard by the 360 and rushed to market. I still think the only thing that keeps the PS3 from being perfect is the online component. (Not a big fan of the DS3 either but I can live with it)... Oh and the 360 took a huge step back for me with the NXE. What a piece of s***.

ABC is going with a show called COUGAR TOWN next season. I lol'd at the premise: I'm so glad network TV is mining the world of pornography for ideas now.
-
I've only played one game to completion on my ps3 (LBP) but the blu ray functionality is nice. Was bored by Uncharted and KZ2 and the R&C games hold no appeal for me. Anything multiplatform goes PC first or 360 depending on how into the multiplayer I'm going to get. and the wii gathers dust.

The PS3 was pretty much responsible for killing the Aliens games at Gearbox and Obsidian. FWIW.

Rom + Emus? Pick up the Shadowrun RPG.

At least when the US does it it'll be a laser guided bomb that hits MILITARY TARGETS (that just happen to be next to hospitals/schools/apt buildings/etc)... These AYRABS don't even have the decency to stockpile multi-million dollar weaponry, they steal our CORPORATE ASSETS to do their dirty work. Tragic stuff really.

Most of the stuff I hated was story/world related. Still wondering why the hell Dad bothered leaving Project Purity/The Citadel/Rivet City, growing up sheltered in a dying vault is somehow preferable to the reasonably secure Rivet City and the main hub of the BOS? Really? What the f*** were the Mutants doing in Vault 87? What the hell was the point? Just to have Super Mutants in Fallout 3's east coast? How about that in Fallout 1 + 2 and grand total of TWO nuclear devices were set off and Fallout 3 has them dispensed like candy. A lot of the game just smacks of 'not getting it' and pretty much throwing out all the themes that made the first two Fallout games so interesting. /lore nerd rant off The shooting mechanics were also pretty boring. Mostly because 99% of enemies just ran right up to you and swatted at you til they died. FUN! Ramping up the difficulty didn't help either as it just made them bullet sponges + nerfed your weapons. FUN! Mercifully, you could bypass most combat by just hitting the 'win now' button, aka VATS. Games have advanced to the point that we're capable of portraying huge worlds in striking detail but the game play is still barely a step above "OW MY BALLS" (Gears o War/etc) ... I was pretty underwhelmed by Fallout, mostly because it was exactly what I expected. I am looking forward to Fallout: New Vegas since it's being built by the ex-Black Isle guys.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ May 14, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) For some reason I read Fallout 3. Disregard this post. Would apply to that game too.
