  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 04:52 PM) Feel bad for Delmonico. Robbed earlier by Cain if a two run double and robbed in the 9th of a two run homer by Gordon. Game could have been real interesting,if not for the good D Yes that was some big time D they were flashing today.
  2. Plus you don't waste service time calling him up next year after Super 2. It's the same as a September callup. If he's blazing down AAA he deserves the promotion and the practice.
  3. QUOTE (zisk @ Aug 13, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Thoughts, comments and ideas. I've had the feeling for a while that the team could contend as early as 2019 with some small tweaks and a little luck. With Rodon looking like himself again, and Lopez, Kopech and Hansen dominating in the minors it's not inconceivable. If it happens we would probably need quick development from Eloy Jimenez as well. If he tears through AA next spring and early summer he might get his feet wet next year and be ready to contribute in 2019. One thing that could speed up the process might be a possible trade for Cardinals catcher Carson Kelly who is blocked by Molina. The Cards might want a competent back up catcher[smith?] a long term catcher {Collins ,Zav- ala} and a young starting pitcher in return but it might be worth it. A starting outfield of Eloy, Avi and Leury Garcia along with Anderson, Moncada Abreu, Davidson and Kelly might be enough to compete for a wild card and Get the fans excited sooner rather than later. The fact that Burger,Robert,Sheets Adolpho and Rutherford would be close behind for reinforcements makes it a chance worth taking. We also have a couple of high first round picks in 2018-19 alond with Jordan Stephens,Spencer Adams and Guerrero for added pitching depth in case of injuries. Tell us your plans for the future. Zisk I often forget that success and competing is only relative to the division. So if Kopech and Eloy blaze through the minors next year, the Sox will probably be better than KC, Detroilet & Minnesota. The Indians bullpen will probably fall apart in a year or two because that's what bullpens do, so I could see 2019 being super exciting but maybe the Sox come up a bit short. 2020 probably begins at least 5 years of dominance in the division. Can't wait!
  4. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 10:15 PM) You made the 50M argument. No one else did. A white supremacist drove his car into a crowd of counter protesters, and the President of the United States said both sides needed to cool down. Please continue to defend that. I know what happened, and I'm not defending it. I'm just saying that calling all the people who voted for Trump "racist" is a terrible thing to do. Why draw conclusions from my comments like that? Ahhh because you wanted to I'm guessing. But I'm not going to assume like you did. So why don't you tell me why you chose to take my simple defense of 10s of millions of nice people, and come to the conclusion that I support the actions of a domestic, racist terrorist? Please tell me how you arrived there.
  5. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 12, 2017 -> 10:06 PM) 60 million Americans voted for a deeply and openly racist man who never apologized for any of it. https://twitter.com/mattyglesias/status/896...src=twsrc%5Etfw But the problem with Nazi terrorism are the people who oppose it, sure. Drawing the conclusion you just did in bold is just terrible of you. Almost as bad as saying 50 million + people are racists. How many racists do you know? I work with thousands of people every year in a very diverse field and I can't say I've ever met someone who I would characterize as racist. Not saying they aren't out there...but 50M strong? That's ridiculous. Most people are just trying to take care of their families and help out their neighbor.
  6. I bet there are less than 10,000 white supremicists in this country. Acting like 50 million people are white supremicists is a serious problem. A serious problem.
  7. If we're comparing him to Sox pitchers it's Peavy with that arm motion. I always thought Lopez was the top piece in the Eaton trade and the toughest for the Nats to give up.
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 05:28 PM) After reading this asinine "preview" from RR I'm ready to sweep their asses: https://www.royalsreview.com/2017/8/11/1612...s-derek-holland What a royal jackass that author is. If you're going to be painfully unfunny at least don't be a Royals fan as well. Thank you for that link! Man the grizzled cheap shot shtick is what sports rivalry is all about. Rivals should be trolled not respected. In a way, ridiculous trolling like this is respect lol
  9. QUOTE (Buehrlesque @ Aug 11, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Not a big deal, but does it irk anyone else that the day a prospect "graduates," they are worth zero in these kinds of rankings? I get that they have become major leaguers, and that lists like this are just a snapshot in time, but I would love some kind of system that uses weights of some kind so players could still factor in in some form. It's not like a guy like Moncada is a prospect with X major league at bats and not a prospect with X+1 major league at bats. It'd be cool if there was room for scale or gradient. Super quality thinking post here Mr Buehrle. Maybe overall talent under 25 yrs old? Overall talent under 1000 ABs?
  10. Barry Bonds had some OBPs north of .600 if I'm not mistaken. His ceiling is Bonds then?
  11. If your assets cashflow an amount greater than your monthly expenses, you are wealthy. Arguably better than being rich. Kind of like having a great farm system! ?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 05:53 PM) Wonder how close Cashman was to letting go of Torres for Q or the eventual package that became Rutherford...? Probably not very, despite the season-ending surgery. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...ticle-1.3372695 Caulfield can i please have my time back for reading that article. Had nothing to do with what you posted
  13. Doesn't Anderson only have to put up like .5WAR per season or something to justify the money? Petey-Boy, look at it this way: If Anderson becomes even tolerable the money is worth it. If Anderson becomes an above average player the Sox hit a Home Run. If he becomes a star KW will be allowed to sleep with every fan's wife and stay for breakfast in the morning. If he sucks he can be replaced for a miniscule hit financially. Not even peanuts, but the shells.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) And there's really no point of starting his service time. Call him up after 2 weeks in 2019 when he gets that extra year of control. This is all fine and dandy ONLY if his command becomes iffy again. If he's in AAA next year tossing 7IP 3H 1BB 10K ball consistently...then I think the right move is to wait until after Super 2 deadline. You can't stuff him in the attic like Christmas decorations if he's murdering AAA. Wait til Super 2 for sure. This all assumes he's dominating. If he's still struggling with control a bit then the Sox have the justification to do what you and others are suggesting.
  15. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) Kopech will likely be allowed to play out 3-4 more starts in August and then be shut down until spring training. He should be in mlb camp, but needs to spend a considerable amount of time in AAA Charlotte continuing to work on command and building up innings. I'd like to see him spend a good amount of 2018 in AAA, but if a player forces the issue then it must be considered. There's really no downside to callung up Kopech after super 2 next year. Let him finish his 160IP with Coop. Or am I missing something?
  16. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 01:27 AM) Delete this thread and your account. Haha basically the only option here. Tebow has almost a .350 OBP???
  17. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 10:25 PM) Beer under slot and spread the money to later. Yes please. I think this is smart too because the Sox could lure a bunch of prep kids into the system to create a next wave of talent.
  18. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 6, 2017 -> 07:12 AM) Does anybody here have info on the high school SS prospect Turang? I think he only struck out once last season. I just doubt the Sox take a 6' 165lb highschool kid with the first pick. He could fill out some by next year but seems risky.
  19. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 1, 2017 -> 05:29 PM) Will we be compensated for our mental anguish? Seriously. It felt like a family member was lost at sea. Thanks to everyone who makes this site possible. I've been taking it for granted.
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) He'd be one of if not the best back up in the league. Of course it'd be different if he was Rodgers or Brady but the only reason he doesn't have a job right now is because some morons are offended by kneeling. It's about the money. It's not just some morons either. It's many tens of millions of people that spend money on the NFL. Why risk all that fandom over one guy making the national anthem all about him? It's just not worth it to teams to have to deal with that distraction/press. Someone else can throw the football.
  21. Congress sucks. So sick of f***ing Congress. Should be 1 term and done, two max. And in order to run for Congress you should have to be retired & have had a family and they all died. I know that's super morbid but then the lobbyists and world corps wouldn't be able to threaten their families to sway policy. But at the same time, the candidate having had a family, would know how hard it is to have a family and fight for all the families of America, with humility. No career to worry about. No bribes necessary, no threatening of loved ones because there aren't any alive. Sick, yes. Morbid, sure. Pure though? Just maybe
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 10:59 PM) I know his innings are limited since he has never had a full season's workload, but my god, he's killing it. His improvements throughout the year, especially in the K:BB department, have been incredible. When Lopez gets the call to Chicago, will Kopech be the one taking his place, even if it's just for a bit? I think some are thinking Stephens. I kind of look at it as he's probably MLB-ready more or less already but like you said, it's all about innings with him. That makes me think don't rock his boat and let him cruise his last few starts right where he's at. A promotion might get him overthrowing trying to crack the majors. Next year I feel like he probably reaches the majors at some point.
  23. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:20 PM) Except none of these guys are gonna be a part of our plans. No need for all these meaningless walkoffs. Lol and the grinch's heart grew three sizes that day
  24. Nice job by the opposing pitchers tonight. Tip the ol cap and kick some butt tmrw!
