QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 20, 2016 -> 09:32 PM) Man I hope Melton gets a chance to pronounce this name in the spring. Haha you get the gold star. Elijah Moonhammer -

Close this distracting thread! More people have proposed trades to the Rockies & Astros in the Q thread!

QUOTE (Con te Giolito @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) McMahon is the Rockies guy and yea, he's slid back. I'm still really intrigued by Gallo. That kind of power in a LH bat to me deserves an extended look, especially since he's only 23 (just turned 23 too). If the Rangers are really giving up on him I would at least explore it, the price for him could be shockingly low. I have season tickets to the Express. Gallo is trash. The shift against him is ridiculous and he strikes out a ton. He's even a timid first baseman when there are close plays at the bag.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Jerksticks replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 13, 2016 -> 10:18 PM) Absolutely. Open audition time. Exactly. And i think you two are hitting on a key point- our outfield prospects, outside of our pitching prospects, represents the true depth of our system. While the names aren't sexy first rounders for the most part, there are a ton of sleeper potential Allstars in our system. Tilson, Engel, Call, Basabe & Fisher are worthy of excitement. Each has some super plus tools that with a lil luck the Sox hit a homerun. The next tier has more limited potential but you never know: Avi, Coats, Hawkins, May. That's why I think it's Bregman or bust with Houston. Bregman, TA, Moncada & Abreu is pure beast. 3 MVP candidates maybe. Elite Catcher or 3B for Q. No more outfielders. No Tucker #f***Tuck -
^^^I'm still in awe with how incredible that defense was last year too. It wasn't passable, it wasn't good, it wasn't great...it was freaking incredible! He's a better defender than Addison Russell and it's not really close to the eye test. Never would have projected that in a million years. His offensive game is kind of old school and I'm looking for him to hold his mud this year and maybe break out in 2018.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
Jerksticks replied to Southwest Sider's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Probably could have had Devers if we paid Moncada's $30M? How many prospects is that $30M worth. -
I'm one of those people who has had their premiums more than double in the last few years. It was steady before the ACA. Didn't lose my plan so I'm grandfathered into a plan with a low ass deductible. It's weird feeling lucky that I'm only getting really screwed instead of super screwed. But I'm not getting screwed remotely close to the level the poor or sick were before the ACA. It still hurts though cuz I work my butt off. And the poor are poorer because of the ACA but they have insurance. But it's not like the super poor are happy now, working way less but having insurance. It's a really tough situation all around.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 12:56 AM) Check this s*** out... Of the Top 11 prospects in the system right now... only TWO of them were in this system prior to June. In SIX months, the Sox added 9 of their top 11 to this system. That's an unbelievably quick rebuild, and we still have 2 giant assets (Q, Jones) to trade yet. I honestly think we can acquire 4 or 5 MORE top 100 guys before the season starts. That could put us at 10-11 top 100 prospects. I'm not sure when the last time that was ever the case for any organization. Hell yea, with a payroll of zilch. We are set up to dominate this division for a long time. Does anybody else feel like Minnesota completely whiffed on their rebuild? Their young guys are meh and they don't have pieces to really sell and replenish. Just have to draft their way back.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Jerksticks replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) If Houston doesn't trade for Quintana then they are playing it extremely cautious. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't try to upgrade their rotation with one of the most consistent starters over the last few years. My biggest concern is after the fleecing Hahn gave the Nationals is they are going to be overly reluctant to part with multiple top talent and will try a quantity over quality approach. Judging by what the Sox have managed to pull off so far, I don't think that is going to fly with Hahn. The goal for us is Bregman right? And Houston HAS to upgrade SP to seriously contend. I wish there was a way for the Sox to sign any remaining quality SP on the FA market to limit Houston's choices to basically Q. Then after they sweat for another month or two send them the package of Q & Frazier(to plug Bregman gap) for Bregman +. Win win. -
To those worried about the glutten of pitching prospects
Jerksticks replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:05 AM) The best way to look at those two deals is as a combination. Q or Eaton wasn't enough to pry lose Moncada, who was apparently the only "untouchable" (along with Urias, Bregman, Turner, Benintendi) on the market. For all we know, if Moncada goes 12/20 and becomes a part of the line-up down the stretch for Boston, he would have been untouchable as well. Those 12 k's in 20 at-bats might have changed the fortunes of two organizations quite dramatically. If Hahn turned down the Giolito/Lopez/Robles/Dunning deal (as confirmed by the Washington Post)...it's only because he knew there was no way to get those key (Moncada or Benintendi) players from Boston, but he also had the knowledge he would get everyone he REALLY wanted in the two combined deals except for Devers and Robles. So instead of looking at it as two individual/distinct trades, I'll always see it as those two key pieces for a "package" of 7 guys which was only available in that "one-two" punch. It's also quite possible the position players that Hahn is targeting are going to come from the Astros, Dodgers, etc., for Q, and he feels quite confident the framework is basically in place to make a move in the next 6-7 months. Not to mention the fact that any contender losing a starting pitcher to a season-ending injury is automatically going to be in a desperate position to be raked over the coals (that said, would prefer they trade Q as well, as long as they get a fair price, before spring training). It's going to be tempting not to glance frequently at ESPN or BR and watch what Benintendi, Devers and Robles are doing, but it's kind of one of those situations like when you've already bought or sold a stock...monitoring the day to day price after you've already sold will simply drive you crazy. (Plus, that's for the messageboards to do!) Nice post caulfield. Nice post. -

Your response to Sale getting traded to the Red Sox

QUOTE (jamesdiego @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:49 PM) Happy for the front office for getting their guy and finally taking steps to rebuild the franchise. Hopefully they play hardball with Eaton and Q. Exciting time for Sox fans. Well said. This is all super exciting. Maybe we resign him in 3 years when the army is ready to invade enemy lands. -
Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal

QUOTE (Blackout Friday @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:17 AM) Interesting and maybe mentioned already, but BP has Robles ranked ahead of Giolito. If that's true then I feel like the Sox can easily get Turner -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:49 AM) I think the problem is many posters here were expecting some magical Sale trade that plugged all our holes and then we'd be ready to compete. Hell, some posters thought the return would be so great that we could actually get better after dealing Chris. The reality is we're going to have to move a lot more pieces than just Sale to clean up this mess. If we get pitching back in a deal so be it. The goal should be added as much high-end talent as possible and worrying about fit later. I think most people just want a badass young MLB player and some badass prospects as well. Seems pretty fair. Haven't seen anybody expecting the trade to plug all the holes. -

Jerksticks replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think Turner, Giolito & Robles actually represents fair. Nats get a 10-15 win upgrade, Sox get some nice pieces. Sox still might end up losing that trade 5 years from now. -

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) The "quantity of quality" is where the White Sox would win. If Giolito and Robles are the headliners, there better be 4-6 others coming with them. A couple more quality, near-ready guys (Lopez, Fedde maybe?) and a few lottery tickets that have tools you like and you think you can develop (NO HITTERS WITH WEAK HIT TOOLS!), and this trade could be the feeder of the eventual competitor we're looking for on the South Side. I like your point and many on here agree with that avenue. Stryker's point is also a common one here and I agree more with that route. Chris f***ing Sale. We need a young superstar at least. A team is trading for CFS because they want to win the World Series. Gotta giiiiiiiive -
Legitimate chance of Sale trade to #Nationals per Rosenthal
Jerksticks replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The reported Nats deal seems pretty risky. I feel Robles is pretty far away to be considered a major piece & Giolito could end up being comparable to Chris Sale at some point, but that's obviously best case! Where is the SURE THING in this trade or at least the appearance of great odds in our favor? Plus this is a nobrainer for the Nats since it doesn't hurt them now whatsoever. I don't want the Sox to be on the other end of a nobrainer. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 02:17 PM) Yes. Completely and utterly. Yes. This can't happen. Doesn't matter which side you are on or lean towards. If this recount determines HRC should be president lock your doors. There will be blood in the streets, lone wolf attacks in DC and state capital cities- people will die. All faith in government and the democratic system will be severely challenged or lost. Am i crazy?

2016-17 free agency thread (NON WHITE SOX RELATED)

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Nov 26, 2016 -> 10:29 AM) You can't predict injuries perfectly for any one player, but if you take a cluster of pitchers with the same delivery issues that Walker has, given the research on guys with upright finishes and high release points, you can say that overall the group will be more injury-prone with the shoulder than a control group without that kind of finish. That was changed two years ago in his delivery. If Walker went back to his old mechanics health shouldn't be an issue I bet Seattle wishes they had you in their FO. They could have fixed him this offseason, let him dominate April, and then traded him for way more than they just did.
