  1. I know this is a little off topic but I love when the MiLB scores by affiliation link is provided daily. It usually is but I think a lot of people fell in love with the mlbfarm link and threw the MiLB in the trash. For me it's way more fun to click on each individual game box score and see how our guys did against other talent. I see how the farm is cool too but I just love me the MiLB. All the FutureSox stuff is awesome 72. Maybe highlight when the young Sox face a highly regarded young pitcher. That's why I love Milb scores so much because you know when they are facing top talent.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 21, 2016 -> 07:06 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...0920-story.html Obama to spend 2 days a week campaigning for HRC. Hopefully this is coming from his golf schedule... Dude ain't giving up the golf
  3. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Sep 17, 2016 -> 09:28 AM) The Sox need a CF who can hit. Yes, there are more RF available for next season, which is probably one of the reasons why Eaton is back in CF (in addition to not wanting Shuck in the lineup as Ventura/Hahn "go for it" in September). They can sign a platoon hitter like Reddick and Hahn will lecture that he's "elite" (just like he did with Frazier and Samardzija). But Eaton leads the league in RF defense - finally a massive plus output - moving him is just more of the silliness. See I think looking for a great CFer is not going to be worth the acquisition cost. We have some guys in Tilson, Engel and maybe May (nor sure on his D) who can straight pick it. I'd rather spend the necessary reaources to get a LFer who can absolutely mash n pick it. Then we'd essentially have two really good Lfers rotating the DH all over.
  4. QUOTE (zisk @ Sep 14, 2016 -> 10:26 AM) why not let Saladino play center field for the rest of the season ? While I do think your idea is terrible, welcome to Soxtalk! ? Saladino is a wizard in the infield and played there his whole life. I say let him be
  5. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 11:52 PM) What's Cooper gonna say? 4 of them will be back but we need to find someone better than James Shields? Seriously. This thread should have been called "somebody somewhere was interviewed and didn't throw his guy under the bus." Nice job coop, can't feed the vultures.
  6. I don't buy any of it. People 18-40 are less skilled than ever.
  7. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Sep 10, 2016 -> 10:18 AM) Yes, people are starting to see the light! With a few offseason moves this offense should at least be league average next season and, quite frankly, that's all they need to compete with this starting rotation assuming the #5 spot is properly addressed. Yes. I think money is the answer for the bat. Trade is the answer for the pitcher. If they trade for a damn good pitcher then maybe the bullpen can be all in-house.
  8. Infield arguably set: 3B: Frazier- Set in stone SS: Anderson- Set in stone 2B: Saladino- Gamer, start him 1B: Abreu- Set in stone C: Narvaez- Earning it, walk rate incredible, see how year finishes BN: Leury- Owned AAA this year, gives good speed and defense, has a little pop BN: Lawrie- Plus plus bench piece BN: Avila- Or someone similar, but I like the option for clutch LH ABs since he can walk Outfield is where the work has to be done: LF: Major Acquisition- Cespedes @ 30M CF: Defense first guy- Maybe Tilson until Engel is ready RF: Eaton set in stone BN: May- Is his D great? BN: Avi for FO pride DH: Melky, who can spell OF corners I think if the FO focuses on a major, punishing OF bat the Sox will be competitive. Not as worried about C and CF since it's too hard to find Trouts n Poseys.
  9. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 9, 2016 -> 10:48 PM) Who cares? I think it's cool to see how our players rate against players from other teams. Would be cool if he's a top 10 SS next year to me. I think it's also cool that Eaton is a top defensive RFer. Comparative stats are cool to me and other folks. Na mean?
  10. And he seems to have twice the arm of the guy across town who gets tons of praise for his D. I can't wait to see how they compare next year. We might have the better shortstop.
  11. QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 8, 2016 -> 08:19 PM) The scouting reports were pretty underwhelming. Now that we've had a chance to see him in action, I'm very impressed. It wouldn't surprise me if he became a Super Star. He has a lot of great tools. I'm surprised by his defense and his power. I envisioned him as a lead off hitter, primarily because of his speed. He may end up being able to hit closer the the middle of the lineup. We'll see. Nice post. His defense has been incredible. He has that knack to just make the heady plays. That's what good guys see to do in all sports. I'm excited too.
  12. He sure looks like he belongs and then some. All the people who thought he was rushed or that his callup was a desperation move were completely wrong. Helps one believe in the FO a bit more. They nailed this pick and they nailed preparing him and they nailed his timetable. Kudos
  13. Somehow his ABs are pretty much must-see ABs. Nice job so far Omar.
  14. What a perfect 5th starter he would be for us. How do we shed Shields and grab a threeish-type guy to slide into the 4 role? That's the trick for Hahn & Co. Sale- 1 Quintana- 1.25 Rodon- 3.5 New Guy- 3.5 Gonzalez- 4.5 That's nails.
  15. Looks like P Diddy just echoed what I said. She might be able to just keep hanging out at rich fundraisers & tweet about Trump...but maybe that won't be enough. We'll see how long the media can keep hiding her.
  16. The farm is stacked, the mlb roster has some good stackins. Now i think the FO has to figure out how to make it all work a year early. Good luck Mr. Hahn.
  17. This is incredible. If he ends up hitting .300 with 30HRs & 100 RBI...i'm just gonna smack myself really hard. I just see no other options.
  18. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Sep 2, 2016 -> 07:14 PM) I think we should do a poll to see how many people don't know what the word sup means. Haha. Unless we have some really old grannies posting from their nursing homes it's gotta be zero.
  19. Can Hillary sideline it all the way to victory? I keep feeling like at some point she's going to have to engage the public or say or do something presidential. Is responding to trump's weekly actions with a righteous tweet going to be enough? I'm rooting for trump the next month to make it a closer race. I want to see some action and i want the debates to decide it.
  20. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 31, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) FWIW, Avi has his first year of arbitration next season. Any chance he'll owe the Sox money?
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 29, 2016 -> 04:49 PM) Yeah that comment made my eyebrows dance. Haha screw those corporations!...well as long as it's not Apple, Whole Foods, Starbucks, Ikea or Target.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) Absolutely. Hell I use it today to justify the non-ostracization of "sinners" like gays. Even if you believe something is a sin, or someone is a sinner, it is pretty clear to me biblical that it isn't up to you to judge them. That Jesus dude kind of took care of that problem. The new testament is pretty clear on that whole love thing. But that doesn't stop people from trying. It is just less socially acceptable than ever before because fewer people than ever before believe it. Nicely put. I finally read the gospel a few years back and I was amazed. It should just be titled "How to live". It's almost impossible as a human with a conscience to disagree with any of the things Jesus says. Emulate that man's attitude and you'll probably have a wonderful life. It saddens me that men have twisted those words so much over the years, to the point where it's super trendy to bash it without ever reading it. I'd challenge even the strongest of atheists to try to disagree that those words are good.
  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 11:40 AM) Then I'm glad I didn't know what it means. Mark Lame braghghhh Jsticks
  24. Hopefully Kenny can bully this f***tard into retiring too.
  25. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) He's in rookie ball pal. Let's see him do this in the high minors. Dude he made them look like they were swinging toothpicks up there. This is a guy worth getting excited about. Toothpicks brah
