QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 19, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) Do you not believe the author was the No. 1 Secret Service agent closest to Bill and Hillary? Why would he make it all up? Truth is a defense against lawsuits. It's almost cult like with Hillary's backers. They want her to be President no matter what. What would it take for Hillary supporters to believe what that guy wrote? Why do they want this person in office? It's just hard to be objective man, it just is. Similarly, it's hard for guys like us to be objective regarding positive things she's ever done...because we feel it in our bones that something ain't right about HC. We know if it stinks like a turd, it's a turd. But most people like the smell of their own turds, so they defend it. Hillary is their turd, which is ok if the fan's on.

This is the first time I feel like the FO really f***ed up, and I'm one of the bigger apologists on here. Had they waited a little longer to cut Danks, EJ's value might have increased a bit in AAA. They should have never exposed him to MLB hitters this year and used him and another prospect to acquire a better pitcher with a bigger salary. All hindsight now because the Sox were absolutely rolling and Danks was killing the vibe, but s***, at least he shut teams down 1 out of 3 starts.

Time to send a car to the Danks residence.

6/17/16 White Sox at Indians
Jerksticks replied to Swingandalongonetoleft's topic in 2016 Season in Review
QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 03:16 PM) Does anyone else look at the Indians lineup and say "How the hell are they in 1st"? Totally man, it's always looked like garbage toilet to me. Sox should stomp these fools. Hey Abreu! Frazier! Carry the load for a while boys, we needja! -
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 7, 2016 -> 07:00 PM) Well, she has gotten more votes and will likely end with more votes across the nation. Believe it or not, more people picked her than Bernie. No one is knocking Bernie, he took it a LOT further than people expected. Democrats don't hate him, and I wouldn't be surprised if some people like myself that supported Hillary were still happy he can bring her further to the left. What would Chuck Garfien do?

And at the end of the day all this is moot; credit shmedit. Either you have some capital to take out a loan or you don't. Either your income and history looks like you can pay it back or it doesn't. I'd argue it's a big waste of time to worry about a fluctuating credit score. Either you can cut a deal with a lender or not.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) You base your vote off of washed up celebrities... That's why. Dumb. Anybody can make a good point at anytime. Writing people off because of who you perceive them to be is one thing wrong with America. Wisdom is everywhere if you sit back, shut up and listen for it.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 04:23 PM) I feel a 'little' better about Hillary after hearing Howard Stern explain why he's backing her. But that's my only solace right now. What did he say? Because I feel like I'd need 2 weeks straight of electroshock therapy to my testicles to cast a vote for Hillary Clinton. Nothing about that woman is presidential to me. Hopefully David Palmer swoops in as an independent.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 07:11 AM) http://wtop.com/dc/2015/08/chef-responds-t...aurant-lawsuit/ Wouldn't it be equally fair then to condemn Trump when you start a business project with him, he libels the ethnic background of the 5 star chef (Jose Andres) and what was originally intended to be at least 1/3rd of the customer base...why would any Hispanic person want to support ANY Trump project? So the PGA is also "anti-Trump/reverse racist" because they're moving a Florida tourney from a Trump course to Mexico City, lol? Is there anyone besides lower middle class and middle class whites without a university education that Trump hasn't pissed off? How is that possibly going to lead to an electoral victory in November when 75% of the eligible female voters in the country will never vote for him...? Trump's going to carry 80% of the white male vote? Even if he does that, he'll lose Hispanic, black and the majority of Asian voters. I hear ya on the fact that he seems to be alienating huge blocs of voters. I think there's one thing you're forgetting and it's powerful: Nobody really wants Hillary Clinton to be president. f***ing nobody. And all the people on the fence or leaning towards Hillary because it's safe might change their minds if Trump just steamrolls her in debates. I predict he will just destroy her and millions of people will be left thinking, "Oh s***, Donald effing Trump just punked Hillary in front of the whole world; what are the leaders of other countries going to do if she's in charge." It might not play out that way but it's where I'd put my money if I had to.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 6, 2016 -> 01:09 PM) On the other hand, she's going to come off as the career politician and he's going to come off as Six Pack Joe. Both will come off exactly as their supporters want them to. But who's going to sway the middle more? This election is interesting because huge chunks of each party don't like their candidates. I just have a hard time thinking Hillary wins the middle and leaners. She's not exciting, she doesn't really stand for anything new, and just generally doesn't seem to care about America as much as becoming the first female president. That's just my personal take, but it's a take that's shared by probably millions upon millions of Americans. f***, I'm sitting this election out ??

I'm not a trump supporter at all, but hillary and the entire media need to get off this racist crap. The guy is bringing issues to the forefront that career politicians haven't the balls to speak of. And I get both sides of it but this taking words too literally needs to stop. For example: The Syrian Refugee thing. Like all Trump's saying is the idea of thousands of refugees coming here scares the s*** out of people. Sure the way he said it grabbed headlines, but cmon, does anybody HONESTLY think Trump hates Muslim people? Of course not- you'd be naive to think he supports the inhumane. The American people are scared of terrorism and they deserve more than a wide-open door. They need to know that government is "on the muthaf***a", so to speak. Somebody needs to bring it up. The Mexican rapist thing. All he's saying is the f***ing cartels are scaring the s*** out of our border residents, and people cross over all day wihout much stopping them. White's and Hispanics down there are scared to death that murderers, rapists, whatever run free in towns like Laredo etc. But the media spins it that ALL Mexicans are rapists blah blah. STFU. While only a small percentage of our population, border people are scared to death. What's wrong with shoring it up down there...or at least talking about it without political redtape soaking the issue. Immigration and the border has made zero progress in decades. Same s*** every day. I'm not voting for Trump but I'm glad he's changing the culture of politics a little bit. He's the first candidate I can remember that doesn't seem like a puppet. Hillary is a total puppet. And now she needs to get in the ring snd fight. Can't wait for the debates to start. We'll see how presidential she is in the face of raw power coming at her.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 5, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Because Robin knows absolutely nothing about baseball, refuses to listen to his coaches or superiors, and does whatever he wishes without repercussion just because JR is a loyal guy,. I wonder if people realized if he actually did everything he was "supposed" to do, like never playing so and so vs. LH pitching, never putting someone in a specific spot in the order etc., he already would have to forfeit just about every game, because he couldn't field a team. Agreed. Who's to blame for the 23-10 start?

What if we gave the Angels our minor leagues...is that enough?

Mods, can I have the power to delete Green Sox's posts on here? And maybe change my title from Benchwarmer to Garbage Man. Thanks boys

QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jun 3, 2016 -> 11:39 PM) I'd much rather see what Coats can do, but Leury is a threat on the basepaths and provides positional versatility so I can see going that route. For sure. Just don't see Leury giving the team a jolt like a new guy would.
-
Anybody else think Delmonico is the first one up? I want me some Coats but they are moving Delmonico all over the field right. Makes me think he's coming up over Coats since he bats lefty and covers first. I wouldn't mind exchanging Shuck & Sands for Delmonico & Coats straight up. Maybe that would be rushing Delmonico a bit though, I dunno.

QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 08:35 PM) This is why I feel it is necessary to go back and get a degree in healthcare or something. The boomers will always need care and there will always be insurance flowing. Physical therapy, occupational therapy and nursing are all hot fields. I wish I could say the same about a business person at a hospital serving as the administrator and having that same job security, though. Nicely said. I agree that winding the boomers down is going to be full of available money since they have most of it. I agree about the businessman too. A career being an unskilled businessman is looking bleaker. Any company can just hire younger people without mouths to feed for much less. Scary proposition to sell yourself as a good manager in business and make a career out of it. How hard is it to tell a younger person to "watch ted & margaret, and keep track of these files, and answer these phones, manage these accounts. If you get sick of it I'll jist hire that dude over there since all you are is a warm body that follows orders". I know that was vague and impersonal but it's just tough being unskilled with so many people now. Management is no longer a skill. It's just next man up. There's gonna be a ton of money made for whoever creates dense communities for the baby-boomers who got passed over to live in. Like all the guys who had cush "management" positions ripped out from under them in the last decade and now they are going to retire broke working part time at home depot and whatnot.

In a more macro take I look at it like this: Manufacturing jobs WAY gone in general. Most agree. Therefore the need for low management, entry levels is gone. Going to the office jobs WAY down in general with the increase in internet & technological efficiency. Don't need unskilled dudes at desks as much really. Sales jobs WAY down due to tech improvements. Less local mom&pop shops due to Walmarts, obamacare. $15/hr will destroy mom&pop for good. Obliterate. He gone. 40hr weeks are becoming more non-existent in lower-end, entry-level positions. More people/less hours is the skyrocketing business model in no-skill, entry-level arenas. And of course it is. Why offer unaffordable benefits to the replaceable. Higher costs of living coupled with lower wages equals stay at home. More competition to join the trades now since all the above jobs are gone or becoming less fruitful-available. Add on top of that a skyrocketing population. Maybe I'm off on some of this but the fact that nobody has anything interesting or skillful to put on the resumes I look at paints a bleak picture to me. Resumes are full of people trying to twist common things into skills. Being skilled gets you a good job. Having an unskilled degree, might as well flip burgers.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) Nothing to lose by giving it a try. I agree. I think he has a good shot at success because he's more of a lying-in-the-weeds guy than a vaunted-prospect guy. Just has the potential for a good story and a good ahot in the arm for the team. His hands are lightning quick.

Off-day musings: 1/3 of the season done, 2/3 to go.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 2, 2016 -> 05:15 PM) If the 8 run 8th and 7 run ninth can put a team in a funk, what I saw yesterday should also pull it out of a funk. The bullpen literally won that game yesterday with the main implosion culprits coming through in a big way. Am I happy where they sit right now, no but the AL Central is not as good as it has been and the White Sox are right there with any of them. Somke and mirrors is not really needed just guys to produce as the have in the past. Exactly. The bullpen should be pretty good over the long haul, not too worried. I think Latos and Abreu are the main cogs where my concern lies. We need Jose to be Jose but we need Latos to exceed expectations a bit, which I dunno, seems iffy. Those heartbreaking losses aren't that bad really. Our "7th inning team" stole plenty of games the first month to more than even that out. I'd say we're still on the positive side of the crushing losses received/given, or at least it feels that way. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 1, 2016 -> 10:34 PM) Why do you say that? The Robin talk was totally justified. The team embarrassed itself totally in Kansas City and had played gawd-awful baseball since the Texas choke job. The team was so scared and shell shocked that that one relief pitcher hack couldn't even intentionally walk hitters he was choking so badly. He threw one past the catcher and almost did it again. He single handedly is the reason baseball probably shouldn't change the rule and just wave the batter to first on an intentional walk, which they are discussing. When your team is playing such clown-like baseball it's flat out embarrassing, yes, his proverbial head should have rolled. Renteria should be interim right now. Anyhow, the Robin talk was not laughable. They'd lost 6-7 series in a row and in many cases were playing like buffoons. As far as rebuilding the roster/franchise ... this lineup is putrid. Thank goodness Albers whacked a double today or that would have been another loss. If ever a manager deserved to be fired it was Robin after the third KC choke job. I dunno man, it just seems too pitchforky to me. Fact of life: nervous guys will always get nervous at the first sign of something going wrong. They'll snap to judgement, they'll blame, they'll get all flustered and butt-hurt, they'll make knee-jerk reactions, they want somebody's head on a platter. These are the sheep. Calm guys weather storms. Robin is a calm guy, a real man. I'm glad he's in charge. Many fans on this board can't handle the trenches and haven't the stomach for war. Just how life is. Let it play out. I mean why can't Robin get credit for the dominating bullpen performances the last few games? Doesn't fit the nervous agenda. My $.02

A fair and balanced soliloquy about Jose Abreu, by ron
Jerksticks replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yes, he's been figured out. He has the typical Avi Garcia approach this year- just swing.
