QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 4, 2015 -> 08:31 PM) It will be 1 and done for the Cubs and all will be for not. They are the Cubs still. Well said. I needed that reminder.

Those last two Montas pitches were nasty. Is that thing a biting change up? I had to rewind it a few times. Filthy.

Good job all around of holding his own in the tough sophmore year. Added some pop. I expect him to take a step forward next year, especially with plate discipline. I think he's a .400 OBP guy eventually.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Sep 30, 2015 -> 08:13 AM) Trayce is better in literally every aspect of the game. He's proven that RF is his next season. This is basically it. Defense is a million times better and he has an actual approach at the plate. Not sure Avi knows what to do with any pitcher throwing over 92 mph

Sox Mostly Missing From Baseball America Prospect Lists

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 29, 2015 -> 09:44 PM) You can thank KW for that. Now wait for grading the FO I think we need to start a new chapter that starts a couple years ago- since summer 2013 when the FO decided to change directions for the first time in 14 seasons & start over. The question is how much talent has been brought into the organization the last 2 years and couple months, and I don't know, but I think you can only judge the FO from that point forward, unless you think they deserve punishment for the previous 14. Two completely different mindsets (Hawk) before and after the summer of '13. -
Eaton- 14 Avi- 13 I still can't believe that Eaton's probably gonna pop 15 homers! I still can't believe Avi dissapointed pretty much every fan this year. Woulda been a fun season if Garcia had taken a big step forward.

Isn't Robin the guy that was hired to manage through these lean years of rebuilding?

Well, it's that time of year again....2015 edition

So where we at?? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) If the Sox are first in something and this bad ... you won't see the front office dealing its only strength IMO. I think we coulda dumped Shark when we had a chance and picked up something in return. Now it's too late for that. It's not all bad though. Kind of offers the Sox protection in the draft. If they finish in the bottom ten, then the second rounder given up for Heyward is replaced by a better pick for losing Shark. Basically a free free agent if i understand correctly. Arguably the talent acquired in the trade would have been better than the pick but like you said, it is what it is.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) Overall the cap is a major issue not just with Seabrook. But the Blackhawks being good is the best thing to happen to hockey. I have no doubt the NHL wants the Hawks to retain their good players. Caps will rise as necessary.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 27, 2015 -> 10:33 AM) The Sox do have a playoff caliber pitching staff. I'm amazed that a Sox fan such as yourself would use ERA to try and prove that we have an average pitching staff after having watched games in which Sox pitchers allow "earned" runs that are clearly due to defensive miscues. The Sox are 8th in pitching fWAR and 1st in starting pitching fWAR. That looks like a playoff caliber staff to me. 1st??? Holy s***! And that is despite early Noesi, the Danks highs n lows, & Shark being pure toilet? Amazing if that's true.

Just found this from a month ago: 3500+ Ks. http://www.sportsgrid.com/mlb/chris-sale-i...336-more-games/

Nice find man. So how good of a pace is he on if projected out to say when he's 38-40?

Maybe the best WS trade in a while. Good young hitter.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 22, 2015 -> 05:49 PM) Fingers crossed. Arrieta is due to get torched. There's no better scenario for me than Arrieta giving up 7 ER in WC game.

LDF, are you saying there are other ways to leave DNA behind besides creampie?

Samardjiza believes he was tipping pitches
Jerksticks replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 21, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) I don't think he's tipping hit pitches so much as leaving hanging breaking balls over the middle of the plate. Absolutely. I've only watched the MLB.tv highlights lately when he starts, but most of the run-scoring pitches that have been crushed are hanging spinfests. -
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 07:38 PM) You are a terrific poster on this site and I always enjoy your thoughts and opinions on all things White Sox. Just curious to pick your brain on your reaction to my Stone comment, why you don't think it would be a good idea. Stone's been around the game for a long, long time, and is well regarded in his knowledge of the game. Over the years I've always sensed that regard was for his understanding of the game both on and off the field, including his understanding of the business side of the game. I do think he exhibits the types of competencies and know-how of the game to be able to function highly in a front office position. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd love to hear you expound on your thoughts on this. I suppose the pun is intended...but I don't think he has the stones to be in a leadership role. Fair enough to disagree but that's just my take. I don't see him being able to get things done really.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 20, 2015 -> 10:15 AM) We still get to enjoy Rodon for six more seasons and at the end the Sox get a comp pick so there's that. Hell of a stretch Rodon is having! He's come such a long long way in a short period of time. He's done an incredible job of limiting his walks. Well said! And I love how RISP doesn't even phase him now compared to when he was Mr. Mustache in the bullpen.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 19, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) Too lazy to look it up. Did Dayan improve his eye at the plate? I thought somebody said he was hitting .300 with seven homers and a lotta ribbies. Has he reinvented himself for next season? I'm too lazy too. Cuz i know I'm gonna click on it and see turds.

How many of last off-seasons "big" moves would the Sox make
Jerksticks replied to maxjusttyped's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Laroche sucked some life out of me personally. After watching 4 years of Adam Dunn, who to me is the absolute worst type of mid-lineup hitter (I understand some of you value his style and i respect that) I was so ready for a fresh start ar DH. But no, we got the same thing but arguably even worse. Looks like 6 straight years of pull-happy no contact. That s*** hurts. -

He should be fired and humiliated because that's what that asshole deserves.
