  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) I like this lineup. Reason to watch along with rodon Yea here we are again. Wanna see Rodon, Trayce, Avi & Saladino dominate but let Webb give up the lead for a loss. Top ten pick would really help those in the Heyward camp.
  2. For the record I am very Pro KW&RH. Laroche was the only mistake so far. I see why they did it but damn he really ruined everything. No need to cut their heads off over it. Rebuild still right on schehdule.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 2, 2015 -> 06:08 PM) Bah, they weren't giving up any of their young players yet and that's a decision they made long ago. Even with the Nationals example I can't really criticize for sticking to your plan. Price, Arrietta, Lester looks a lot better next year and doesn't even cost them a draft pick. I watched one of those painful Kap & Haugh cubs deep-throating videos on CSN and they were saying if the cubs extend Arrieta & sign Price they will end up shelling out almost a half billion for 3 arms. Incredible. And they aren't young dudes. I kind of hope they do sign Price because that might actually close their window, financially speaking. 4 years from now they could be in some real financial trouble unless they get all Dodgersy.
  4. In other words "Listen other GMs, you can have EJ but he's going to cost a lot. Now if you give us Arenado we can start talking..."
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) Then again, you see it all over baseball. One of the biggest problems Stalin Castro has had for all his major league career is that he is baseball stupid. And he is far from the only one. If you pay attention to the teams we play, you see it pretty much every single game, and it happens on teams who are known for their great managers. Yes! There are sooo many horrible position players playing. Teams are littered with guys hitting .230
  6. Based on inflation the last years I would think the Sox could consistently sit at $150M. I think they need to. That's Heyward easily. Lez do it!
  7. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 06:43 PM) We got Yency Almonte for 2 months of Gordon Beckham. Unreal. Haha Stupid front office.
  8. QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 30, 2015 -> 12:51 AM) I feel like KW is looked at similarly to Krause was with the Bulls. Great when they were succeeding, but chastised when they were losing. The fact of the matter is that they brought us rings. Sustained success?? Give me a ring any day of the week. E: And I agree. He has to go, just as Krause had to go in the early 2000s. I just wouldn't look at the guy that traded for Podsednik, signed Iguchi, traded Loaiza for Contreras, brought in AJ and El Duque, as well as an alcoholic like Bobby Jenks and then call him a terrible GM. I'd take that year over many. Double edit due to intoxication: I was a young teenager when he traded Jeremy Reed for Freddy and I thought he was trading the next Ted Williams because Jeremy was hitting like .400 in the minors at the time (IIRC). So add that to the moves. Shhhh man. Nobody round here wants to give credit where due. It's always the government's fault!
  9. Garcia LaRoche & Ramirez is just eye pain for any viewers. 3 outs, 6 pitches thrown.
  10. I dunno though. John Danks may be the only pitcher in history to win in a stadium black-out. Almost wanna get Chuck Norrisy with Danks now
  11. I think our rebuilding is going pretty well. So well that we took a shot at the WS this year, year 2. So well that alot of you are pissed we didn't do better. You're pissed because, well, damn it actually looked pretty decent on paper after only a one year core-flip. Stay the course fellas. Don't jump ship. We're getting better not worse.
  12. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) This is sort of off-topic, but do you guys think that Danks will get into the HOF when he retires? My friend said that he has a shot. I was laughing hysterically, but I was wondering if anyone thought the same. May God have mercy on your soul
  13. QUOTE (daa84 @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 02:07 PM) In general, I try to stay pretty level headed on this board, but I Gotta get this off my chest..... . If you root for the sox and also like to watch the Cubs, that's cool. Certainly not gonna criticize anyone for that. I get that they are exciting and good and are a Chicago team. I have tons of friends and in-laws that are Cubs fans, and plenty who root for both. Not everyone gets caught up in the Cubs vs sox stuff, and I get that. However, for a select segment of sox fans, rooting against the Cubs is part of being a sox fan. Growing up in the SW burbs, I fall into this category. And I'll be goddamned if I'm gonna catch flack for hating on the Cubs. Do the Cubs have great young talent and a super bright future with a great front office? Of course they do. But why do I have to all of a sudden change my feelings for that team based on their success? Rooting against them is part of my identity as a sports fan, just as they have fans who will root against the sox for their lifetime. If you wanna hate on me and b**** at me for that, I guess that's your right. You can think it's childish, but it's my opinion (and part of my sports ethos) that rivalries in sports are a great thing. And I would never expect a Michigan man to root for the Buckeyes, an Midshipman to root for the Cadets, etc. Cubs vs sox may not be as big of a rivalry as those others, but if you don't think the rivalry exists, you clearly didn't grow up in the same neighborhoods as I did. And when it comes to me hating on the Cubs, I'm gonna keep watching and hoping they lose every single goddamn day. I am getting sick and tired of people (and not just on this board) trying to tell me who I can and can't root for and why. Amen damnit. My father and the neighbors once blew up a cubs batting helmet with a 1/4 stick of dynamite on the 4th of July. Fortunately nobody was hurt by the more-dangerous-than-expected shrapnel, but that was one less kid who was gonna be wearing a cubs helmet on the southside. Solid work if you ask me ?
  14. QUOTE (LDF @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 02:13 PM) oh btw, why not make this snarky comment toward to several others posters..... oh btw, i forgot, they are admin people.... you don't have the balls to do that. Tongue in cheek LDF! Holster your weapons
  15. Thanks for not calling all our moms LDF.
  16. QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 09:38 AM) Giants are considered one of the best broadcasting teams. Cubs too. I think the Giants' are a bit overrated; I prefer Kasper. Solid broadcast. Mercy.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Aug 28, 2015 -> 08:31 AM) Even so, I'm not sure where you're getting that the NL is better though. There's no easy wins in the AL, I would take the A's over like 6-7 NL teams. The NL has many of the top records, sure, but they also have all the really s***ty teams. It begs the question of just whether the top is that good, or the bottom is that bad. Probably a bit of both, but I'm not convinced the top NL teams are any better than the top AL teams. However, the bottom of the NL is pretty awful. Exactly. This is all a baseball fan needs to acknowledge. The pitching in the NL is absolutely horrendous. "But they have Kershaw & Greinke & Bumgarner & Arrieta". Shut up. Nobody can name more than a couple #2 starters in the NL, let alone the #3-5s. It's junk ball, plain and simple. Just acknowledge it.
  18. I have MLb.TV and watched some of the madison bumgarner show yesterday. Anybody ever listen to a Giants' broadcast? Lord have mercy. I couldn't believe it honestly. Somebody actually okays that for public consumption. Made me actually consider switching over to Len Kasper.
  19. Mr 500 has a nice ring too
  20. I think the cubs would be under .500 in the AL
  21. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 05:09 PM) What happens to LaRoche? That's the best part! He backs up Abreu. Bench Trayce against tough righties (if nec.) and move Melky back to the OF. Finally get the rotating DH to spell OF legs and play matchups. Yes I know he's a $12M bench player, but f*** him.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 27, 2015 -> 04:05 PM) If the Sox weren't going to bring back Alexei, they would have traded him already. No reason to do otherwise. Win this year? I'd say that was reason enough. Sanchez has all but earned the title of starting 2B for the Chicago White Sox for 2016. I can't see any reason to bench him to try Johnson out there again. Sanchez is playing at an AllStar level arguably. Let's not f*** with one of the few bright spots.
