  1. We really need a hitter. Somebody that isn't afraid to choke up and play the game. We lose the pitch count battle almost every single night.
  2. QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 30, 2015 -> 03:43 PM) That was their chance. Pathetic. Isn't Keuchel really good though?
  3. It sure did lighten the mood around here a bit
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ May 30, 2015 -> 12:59 PM) isn't that a contradiction. the medical staff says yeah he ok and then he wounds up aggravating it more. ah with that, i think i would get a second medical staff to work there. but the other part is, it would have been great if someone in authority would have said, yeah, but i will still rest him and let the backup play some. I don't think it's a contradiction LDF. Pretty much everybody is hurt all year and they are all playing through their aches & pains. I know us Chicago fans take knee injuries extra seriously I don't think it's as big of a deal as we think with Avi. Somebody in the game thread said he's starting in RF so I imagine this might be the last we ever hear about Avi's knee, God-willing!
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2015 -> 12:40 PM) As I stated before, I would listen to the medical staff. The people who are educated and trained for this kimd of thing. If you remember Robin's comment when Avi was initially tsken out and reentered the line up, he said it was a case where playing on it wouldn't make it worse. You can think he just made this up off the top of his head, and the training and medical staff were never consulted, and everyone is afraid of Robin in the White Sox organization so they will just do as he says, but it would be a case of you being incorrect again. He was cleared medically, he said he was good to go, he played. Even if he sat the one magical day, I am guessing with his current injury, it wouldn't have suddenly dissappeared. And the comment about Ozzie's education is pretty accurate. This sums it all up nicely. I don't know why people are ignoring the fact that we have a wonderful medical staff paid enormous sums of money. Avi AND the entire staff thought he could play through it so they tried. Didn't happen. Wtf is there to second guess? I mean, the staff and Avi didn't have the benefit of hindsight at the time, which makes everything easier to analyze.
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 30, 2015 -> 10:39 AM) We should listen to the guy with a 5th grade education. Dr. Ozzie. Sit for omeday, problem solved. Besides, you said Abreu is a tick above average. How would that be a big loss? I remember these soundbites: Herm "We should play him so he gets hurt more." Dr. Ozzie "No, he will rest for one day" Herm "ahh, genius as always"

    Grilling

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 28, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) Ill add one more layer to that, mix the cream cheese with chorizo. Mercy of the heavens...i can't wait. And Tex, i don't understand the mix and how you stuff bacon in the jalapeno. Sounds delish tho!
  8. They should have given him a day off after he injured it...that magic cure-all day. Just another one of the million bonehead moves Herm Shneider's done to cripple this franchise the last few decades.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) I agree, but the culture changed 100% once he left. Mos def. It all happened so fast like the hockey gods said, "The Hawks will now be magical."
  10. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Bob Pulford the KW of the Hawks being fired that was when real change happened for the better. The rest is history. Kane & Toews helped a smidge.
  11. I wish Herrera would throw 88mph meat spinners to our rookies. That pitch to Russell was bulls*** and made him look good.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) The only reason Sox have any decent minor leaguers now is slotted picks. If that would not of changed Sox would still be last in spending and ranked 30th. I agree. And i don't think it's related to cheapness entirely either. Maybe since sox fans are a blip in the city and fans don't show up JR had to sacrifice draft & development money to have those higher payrolls. I dunno though, just speculating.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 06:22 PM) Which is a particular shame because I'm at best a very slight hockey fan since he wouldn't let me watch hockey while growing up. I played growing up and loved watching the hawks, but man did that suck. I can't to this day understand that concept. In all business you give a little to get a lot. He coulda grown the fan base that whole time arguably. I mean as kids we could go to a hawks game for 10 bucks. How much was he really making with an empty stadium? Lunacy.
  14. Balta, I think we just have too many bad baseball players right now. And defensively, mercy. Conor has wood legs, melky is 5'5 260, Tyler meh, alexei is getting old. I'd argue Avi is looking pretty good out there. Eaton too. Abreu as well. If some of these guys heat up a bit with the bats we can overplay our D, especially the whole left side.
  15. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) Fire Herm Schneider? Haha "Somebody has to hang! We demand blood!"
  16. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 29, 2015 -> 05:39 PM) How is that? I don't know either. Seems there's this "common sense" argument of resting him after he tweaked it. We all get that though. Obviously the sox FO and RV and HS thought that as well since it's, you know, common sense. And then obviously they along with Avi thought he could play through it and be fine in a few days. Didn't happen so they're resting him now. Guys play through pain all year. He could probably be playing but we have a track record of being extra cautious with our company ferraris.
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2015 -> 04:54 PM) while you make a good point. this was a perfect example that the phillies tried to do. keep the train moving by adding on the core. keep the winning team moving forward. the problem is, the sox org should have dismantle it, and start with building a core. the main problem was and still until recently, the sox org had shiite in the lower ranks to supplant the team, to ease the rebuild. so the worst of 2 evils, continue to add or patch up a sinking ship or rebuild it. what cost more in money and fan attendance. which will affect the income coming in and season tickets to continue to go up? being force to make ticket discounts, and acquire fa's to build that team. I understand the point that at some point a core ends its run. But our core was strong 2000-2012. We had some great core players so we had a chance to win every year. Our core additions failed- Peavy, TCQ etc. good ideas that didn't pan out. But anybody who says we didn't look good on paper most of those years is crazy. I'm still amazed that we have a good, new core without having to pay the price of losing to acquire it. Sure we've lost a lot the last few years but we have yet to be hopelessly bad for a stretch. We're close. The players need to quit sucking so the heat can get off RV.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 29, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) If "arguably good" moves consistently fail, the right move would be to change the philosophy and decision making process that led to those moves. Instead we keep trying them over and over and over and somehow we're stunned that 2015 looks exactly like every other time we tried and failed with this set of moves. Some would call that "insanity". Peavy's freak lat ruined our chances. TCQ put up MVP numbers. Dunn I always hated the move but it made sense. How do you change the philosophy of aquiring or standing behind good players? That's our philosophy. I like it personally. s*** happens.
  19. Kite how is reinsdorf a problem. He consistently puts out a top payroll considering the lack of attendance. Do you think we should consistently spend more?
  20. Yea. I'm super impressed with the setup of our FO. While I don't know how all the other teams work, I get the impression that most FO's are chaotic and impersonal. I like that our team is like a family; blood you can trust. KW & RH are Jerry's sons. So are RV, PK & still even still OG- OG is like the relative in rehab that you still love and know will come back one day to the table to eat.
  21. But don't you guys get it that KW & RH, brace for it, WANT Jerry in on most of it? They all like each other and like working together and have put damn good on-paper teams on the field almost every year since 2005. Players have sucked for the most part, it stinks. Peavy & Dunn crippled the franchise's chances of winning. Arguably good aggressive moves that didn't pan out. TCQ breaking his hand ruined us for years thinking he would regain his form as our beast. Rios...mercy. I dislike that some of you want to blame people. Who are you to judge? It's just a silly game.
  22. Some of you guys are crazy. The players are sucking horribly right now. I'm excited to see what happens as the weather warms up and Melky gets going.
