QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2015 -> 06:48 PM) I'm so thrilled we went on a streak, but can't help but be bummed that after 2.5 weeks of really good baseball we are only at .500. I really want this to keep going so that .500 isn't the ghost we are chasing all season after a terrible start. Yea man, chasing that .500 ghost would feel all too familiar from the last decade or so. The difference this year is all the drink stirring. Clubhouse seems real tight- these boys gonna blast right through .500.

J4L I feel like I haven't seen a post from you in years and you come at us with this?! LOL bro we all know that the cubs are coming fast, hence all the pistols cocked and stuffed in our mouths.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 17, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) Robin has been a different manager during this road trip. I'm not saying we all should love him now, but yesterday night holding the short leash on the BP won us a game. This series was a thing of beauty on his end. 99% of it is guys playing good baseball.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 17, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Honestly, I got more out of Rowand this series then I have out of Steve Stone the entire time he has been here. Rowand's insights into pitch sequences, mechanics and the mental approaches were more depth than I have heard out of that booth since Jack McDowell sat in last year. Well said. I have mlb.tv so I watch a lot of other broadcasts when the Sox aren't on. These were by far the best 3 games i've heard announced by far, no homer talking either. The insight these two had was incredible with respect to approach at the plate. When you watch other teams' guys you always get the announcer voice blabbing out stats. Stats? Really? Stats? Playoffs? Practice? Stats? Lol we can all read the stats on the screen chip carey. Thanks bub. Len kasper, thanks for not talking about anything baseball related etc.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 17, 2015 -> 03:44 PM) Keep maing him throw pitches, either one of these jams he gets into burns him or the Sox get into Oakland's nightmarish bullpen early. ^^ this. No need to be upset. This is going well. Cmon shark!

I trust the mods have whipped the nervous posters for their impatience.

Wow can Stone take another week off? These two gel. Great insight by Rowand. You can tell he comes from the same school of thought as Hawk- like discussing the human aspect, not the boring statistical aspect. I'm glad they put the mic closer to Rowand tonight too, night & day

On a side note...so are we going to give the indians quad lefties? Edit. Which is awesome cuz it seems like their whole team is lefty. Go Sox!

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 16, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) 4 games in a row. 4 series in a row. Hope Shark wants to show his old team up tomorrow for trading him. Keep this s*** up! Amen bro. Time to step up Shark and roll the rotation over to the studs. Big streak possible!
-
But then you watch Sanchez play late inning D tonight and go "Damn!!!". Dude belongs.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 16, 2015 -> 06:10 PM) This is where I'm jealous of the Sox fans who live outside Chicago. The hype is going crazy right now, to the point where I couldn't ignore the Cubs even when I want to. I live in Texas and it still makes me want to puke. If i lived in Chicago I'd for sure have a pistol in my mouth ?

16-13 since the 0-4 start. Unvelievable considering the horrible everything. This team might be real damn good.
-
Phew! Were there any strike 1s in that whole mess of s***?
-
RV doing a good job, putting all the right pitchers in, they just running into some bad shank hits. Vogt hot that nicely though.
-
Danks looks pretty good tonight. Bad pitch to Butler but he's locating and his change looks nasty. Chavez looked wild. Hang in there
-
And especially in the 1st inning before you've gauged tha pitcher. Your only job the first AB is to see everything the pitcher has. Now his 2nd AB has to be wasted doing that. That's amateur.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 16, 2015 -> 08:11 PM) Melky has been a disappointment to me While I think he's going to end up being a good hitter for us, I can't for the life of me wrap my head around why he doesn't take AT LEAST 2 pitches before he swings. Why isn't that being demanded? How does a 1 pitch AB help the ball-club

Didn't coop f*** that up?

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 15, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) Sox record is 3½ games better than Oakland, but Sox have a -35 run differential and Oakland has +1. Oakland's team OPS is 30 points better than the Sox (while playing in a very hitter-unfriendly home stadium), Oakland's starter ERA is 1.34 points better than the Sox. Only edge Sox have is a 1.32 point edge in reliever ERA. Interesting stats to date. Sox also have way better players who are starting to heat up.

K'ing the f*** outa Semien 3 times would not be the worst thing I ever saw...no sir. -
Hold up another side to all of this is kinda cool. We can't keep both of them on 2B for the next 6 yrs. Maybe the plan is to trade one of them for some 2nd half help. Maybe Sanchez is really our boy and Micah was a showcase.

Part of me has always thought Sanchez is a superstar waiting to happen. Always been so young and had amazing success at all levels. Dude can rack up the hits

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 14, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) 100% agree with this. Young guys often press and it can hurt them in the field. I 100% believe Micah is a much better defensive player than the one we saw through the first six weeks. Now, does he have flaws that limit his upside with the glove? Sure he does, but he also has incredible range that can help offset those issues. IMO, this looks like a move made out of desperation. Carlos is clearly the superior defender right now, but some people seem to be a bit overzealous about his offensive game. As I posted yesterday, Sanchez was absolutely terrible with the bat in his cup of coffee last year. While I think he's far better than what he showed last season, I have no reason to believe he will be a stronger contributor at the plate and on the bases than Micah would be going forward. Unless you think Micah's epically bad defense wouldn't improve over the course of the season, I think this move is pretty much a push for 2015. However, I think it could have long-term consequences. Had Micah looked overmatched at the plate this move would be a no-brainer, but that's simply not the case. Yea but we're trying to win this year. The FO feels we can win and I agree with them. While not overmatched at the plate, MJ's D has cost us some serious runs so far. I can think of like 10 off the top of my head and I haven't watched every game. And it's not just those plays...it's the fact that those plays have lead to our SPs having extended innings causing them to get shelled. We're going to be tight up the middle now and I think it'll be huge. CS just needs to foul off pitches with the bat and stay above .300 with the OBP.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ May 14, 2015 -> 03:10 PM) Regardless of who made the decision ( I believe it was KW) this move is about as two faced as it comes. To basically say they are gonna be patient with Micah bc he has been performing very well offensively and struggling a bit defensively but is the future of the team and then to turn around the next day and demote him is just wrong. I lost all respect for the front office with this move. Not the move itself but how they went about doing it. LOL cmon man. Think big picture and you'll feel better. This is how every job in the world that requires balls goes- all the training in the world can't prepare you for the real fire. Sure many jobs you can go to school and slide right in...but the man jobs...gotta jump in to see where you stand, then work on your shortcomings. Any job with balls is like this. I think the Sox did good in letting him find out he wasn't ready. Kind of like the Hawkins promotion. "Look kid, i know you've had success but it ain't gonna work against the best." I think the FO thought his offense was going to be better to overshadow the D. Didn't happen, no big deal, and thank GOD you aren't in charge. Just kidding ?

His defense wasn't there, bottom line. Overall, I don't think he looked overmatched at the plate. I'm glad we started the season with him because he got a real good idea at just how damn good he needs to be to be one of the 30 best second basemen in the world. He's a smart guy and I have faith that he recognized it himself.
