  1. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) I wouldn't hate the idea of resigning Dunn to a lower value contract after next year, given that I don't know what that team will look like. I bet somebody overpays, though. How much is a turd sandwich these days.
  2. Any speculation when a signing would go down? Is this a 6 month thread in the making?
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2013 -> 08:59 AM) If Sale doesn't get hurt, this immediately becomes one of the five best contracts in baseball A bit confusing. Wouldn't you basically say that about any starting pitcher? It's one of those things we will always have to deal with. Better to just accept the bs instead of fighting it lol.
  4. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 06:51 PM) He's not hitting in AA now. Hopefully he can hit in AA next year. Hopefully he can hit at AAA in 2015. That's how I see it too. No way that kid would stand a chance against MLB pitching as is now. U think Flowers is lost....mercy.
  5. QUOTE (beck72 @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 06:55 AM) It makes too much sense to not deal him. The rangers should give a fair deal with Cruz out, and Ros could help them. And the Sox need to add by subtraction. Garcia can slide right into RF, the sox get salary relief (even though some cash may be involved), and more young talent is added. Win-win for both sides. What day and time is the deadline on this Rios thing?
  6. Trade Semien? WhereTF is he gonna play boys
  7. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 07:53 PM) I'm so f***ing stoked that the Sox have a legit prospect with some plate discipline. Who are some fail comps to Semien? Guys with 1:1 or better in AA/AAA that doesn't translate up to mlb.
  8. QUOTE (Andy the Clown @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 07:20 AM) Maybe. Maybe not. Yea. Not enough sample for the John Danks sequel yet. Curious how the longball is gonna play out.
  9. Any chance the infield is Semien Alexei and Bacon next year? Bacon back to third? Semien at third? Seems far-fetched and also powerless.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 11:51 AM) I don't buy that for a second honestly. All you have to do is look at what way better hitting prospects have done at the major league level versus what Wilkins is doing now. Exactly. How's Brandon Allen doing these days? Arguably better than Wilkins in the minors but very similar. There is no reason to get excited about Wilkins just yet.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) Awesome news! These guys will be interesting to watch Yea! I'm hopin for September callups and if they have success they still have to earn a roster spot in camp. No gimmes.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) You're the one who said that the team won't be playoff-ready until 2016, Thompson ought to be in good shape by then as a 2nd year player. I just don't get the Trayce love. He's never come close to dominating any level. He doesn't get on base too well and strikes out a ton. Has nice tools but just once I'd like to see him do more than barely hold his own for a year.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 02:19 PM) As opposed to.. Necessary emphasis brother.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 02:07 PM) I don't know how you could understand the game of baseball and say 2012 was lost because of him. It's the worst thing I've ever watched with my eyes.
  15. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 02:01 PM) So 2011 had nothing to do with Rios putting up a .613 OPS and a manager who was already imagining himself in Miami the following year, and 2012 had nothing to do with the team collectively s***ting the bed down the stretch and failing to hold a 3 game lead with 14 games to play. It was all Adam Dunn's fault. This is the most logical explanation I've heard for their failures down the stretch yet. Now, have you considered the possibility that it was his presence in Chicago that also was the force behind Derrick Rose tearing his ACL? and the Bears choking down the stretch last year? I mean, really, if Adam Dunn weren't playing and under contract with the CHICAGO WHITE SOX, then the Bears and Bulls probably would do better and stay healthier too. Luckily, the bad baseball voodoo doesn't rub off on the hockey team, just the OTHER baseball team in town. At least we can thank Dunn for that, amirite? Lol. All of it- Dunn.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 01:41 PM) This totally is a great post. As bad as Dunn has been at times, guys like Jaime Navarro are in a whole other world of hate. Guys who would blame others for their sucktitude are scumbags. Dunn has always been willing to step to the mic and blame only himself. That is a class act, and reason enough to be respected. I think he single-handedly destroyed our team from suckday one. All of this s*** we are dealing with now is because of Dunn being absolutely brutal in the heart of our order. 2011 and 2012 were lost because of Dunn.
  17. Dunn is an interesting case where looking at the overall body of work (stats) for a season does not even begin to paint the picture of his value. But here's to hoping some other team is stupid enough to think his 40 hr will help their team next year! ??
  18. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 01:24 PM) Dunn is moving that average up and is hitting better - at least for average- than anytime since Sox got him. Waiting for the inevitable Dun hate posts now. Mercy
  19. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 11:19 PM) Wasn't Luke Hochevar the No. 1 overall pick in MLB draft? Yeah, the draft is an exact science. I understand your point but I do like to place some trust in our ability to draft a pitcher with a high pick. The upcoming draft has nothing to do with our rebuilding anyway. Maybe we catch lightning in a bottle like we did with Sale, but the more likely outcome is that this team is rebuilt nd contending long before this pick makes or breaks. Hahn isn't stupid enough to give a s*** about this draft.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) Ventura got way too much credit for last year's success and he is getting way too much criticism for this year's failure. This is a poorly put together baseball team. They all played above expectations last season. That was unrealistic for this year. A lot of these players are the same players that have been here for multiple failures. The White Sox have had 1 playoff appearance and 1 playoff win since 2005. That's not the manager's fault. The White Sox have players that don't get on base and they aren't hitting homers. Now, I hate how many outs Ventura gives away for no apparent reason but other than that this team is so flawed that I can't really blame him for much else. Yea. 1% Robin 74% Konerko not being the Professor... 25% complimentary pieces being atrocious. (Hahn/KW/FO)
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) I'm sorry, but if we don't add a couple of guys that can improve the team's OBP, we won't be competing next year. I'm sure I'll get flamed for saying that, but we're not going win s*** with a team .OBP hovering around .300. I agree. I think we need a high-impact bat at 1B- that's gotta be a priority. Stick Mr. 40/550 Productive Swings Per Year at DH. Most teams have some bad players in the lineup. Pitchers are destroying hitters these days. We don't need that much to compete next year.
  22. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=2...94&sid=t494 It looks pretty cool. Where is the current stadium?
  23. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) Puig watches prides of Semiens hunt. Lol. Really silly
