  1. QUOTE (GoGoSox2k2 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:09 PM) very true. either way there has to be a roster move within the next 4 hours to make room for Reinzo. whether it is sending down someone like Trancoso or a trade Interesting. What's the rule on that; before first pitch?
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 12:23 PM) To me, finding a taker for Rios makes me set an even higher price for Peavy, since now the Sox have less of a need to clear salary. Yes interesting.
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 11:02 AM) We had this discussion in the other thread but you need a young all star position player and then some to start talking. Yea someone to get kids around here excited. That's why I think Trout is the only target here.
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) Boy we stink. At least I didn't watch this one. Jason Giambi a walk-off? Day after day after day something crazy bad occurs. We resurrect careers/seasons. Wade Davis is horses***? Not against the White Sox. Bruce Chen? Yeah he'll allow 3 hits in six innings ... against the White Sox. Jason Giambi wins a game on a walk-off??? This is utterly unfathomable. "It's a mindset."
  5. Oh yea thanks bro. Hope you sign here next year.
  6. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:36 PM) Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 49s #WhiteSox have a contingency in place if they were to trade Jake Peavy: Andre Rienzo is in Cleveland. https://twitter.com/DanHayesCSN Sweet. Like this is some war where we need reinforcements at the front lines. Save the season Andre.
  7. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 07:07 PM) This is gonna be a 3 team trade that nets Bogaerts and Profar coming to the Sox. Obvious 3 way deal is blantantly obvious. s***. I was hoping Hahn wouldn't get bullied around.
  8. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 06:08 PM) That was off the top of my head and I said ++. The idea is that I can see the Sox entertaining moving Santiago/Quintana for MLB positional talent +. Gotcha. Q is worth really good players.
  9. Ackley? I was thinking Q and Santiago would be worth major hauls. Am I crazy?
  10. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) GreenSox has spoken. If he says Quintana has peaked, Quintana has peaked. It doesn't matter that his WHIP, H/9, K/9 and BB/9 rates have all been better this year than last, Quintana has peaked at the ripe old age of 23. Lol. So if Peavy gets us a couple SP prospects then we should no doubt have the depth to trade a Q or Santiago for a ransom of position players. That's how the quick rebuild is done.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:08 AM) It is all cash. It is a baseball tradition to drop some money on the clubhouse guys at the end of the year. Cool. Any idea how many clubhouse guys we have?
  12. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 11:05 AM) On a side-note, how much do you think these players tip the clubhouse attendants? I wonder how much is cash too.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 08:17 AM) If I had to bet based on my assessment of the org...I don't think they'd be willing to go with a rotation including 4 lefties. I think they're too conservative and unwilling to do things that aren't regularly done by everyone else in the league. I think we saw some of that with their continual moving of Santiago to the pen for whatever reason; they saw 4 lefties as risky but they won't tell you why. Yea this is what I was getting at, thanks for continuing the conversation. I truly believe they don't like it either so we probably have a major trade coming before next season. So maybe the plan is to flip Peavy for MLB-ready RHSP. I'd love that.
  14. 2014 Rotation looks like: Sale Peavy/Johnson/Other Quintana Santiago Danks Is this the plan? I really feel like our best and most realistic trade chip this offseason is one of Q or Santiago. Just seems too left-handed moving forward. But they are all so different so there's that I suppose. Does the front office mind going 4 lefty?
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 28, 2013 -> 08:22 PM) Must be, it's a very odd strategy. Seems to be a bit more risk than just getting the hitters now Maybe not. Starting pitching prospects are the best chips in the game. As far as I'm concerned Hahn has until about March 30th 2014. Does Erik Johnson and say Martinez from stl get you a guy like Stanton this winter? You're at least at the table.
  16. He's destroying AA pitching. And the fact that he sees the zone so well should make his transition a bit easier I would like to see how he hits after this hot streak is over before calling him up. Dude might be an absolute monster in the majors.
  17. QUOTE (beautox @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 11:35 PM) I don't buy this back up talk at all. If he was in a system like the red sox or cubs he would be getting so much love and the majority of these "prospect experts" would be gushing over him. Keep it up Marcus, no one gushed over Paul Goldschmidt or Matt Carpenter either and look where they are. I hope the sox take a page out of the marlins book and promote him from AA. Me too. Especially if alexei gets traded. Maybe that's not best for his development but I'd love to watch our Mike Trout, but better, hit in the majors.
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) A Jason Heyward for Peavy trade would be very, very interesting. "Where's he gonna play??"
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) The question is whether a "change of scenery" guy is enough of a return for the guys the White Sox have to sell, particularly since he's already had some injury problems. Yea, seems like too much of a gamble. Even if we turn him into a superstar our only reward is then getting to pay him like one or lose him. Like someone else said, we minimize our risk at least slightly by acquiring max service time players. But if he's the guy then he's the guy and I'll go down with the ship!
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 12:13 PM) What they need to do is improve his efficiency so he can throw more innings on less pitches. Building him up with 115+ inning games is wearing him out. Joe Madden never pitches his pitchers like that. Neither do most manager. Leyland, and the tigers weak pen, is an exception. But even he doesn't wear his starters out as much as the Sox do with a dismal team. I'll go with the majority in baseball over Robin Ventura. Lol. But "Robin" has been doing this all season and still has a job. So what gives lol? It blows my mind that people still think Robin is solely in control of Chris Sale's arm. Unbelievable the stuff you read on here sometimes.
  21. Marty needs to be suspended immediately for that comment. Unless he was being facetious, then I apologize. That's straight up trolling people.
  22. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 04:02 AM) What are these "hot streaks" of which you speak? Which of those streakers deserved to be bundled together to maximize their streakiness? I don't mean to be a Richard, but you kind of made the case FOR Robin. This team has had more than enough pitching to at least be at or above .500. And that would put them well within striking distance of what is a much better team. And the pitching did this without Gavin, but with guys like Axelrod and Santiago really stepping up. So it's easy to see how miserable the offense and defense has to be to keep losing at this rate. It's really impressive. And can everyone stop pretending they're Dr. Frank Jobe and fretting over the pitch counts of young players like Chris Sale. No wonder Don Cooper doesn't post here anymore, it's insulting. I'm not happy with this team, you're not happy with this team and Robin sure as hell isn't happy with it. So let's see if he can turn it around. Remember, it was Robin who was a big proponent of establishing a "White Sox way" when he was Buddy's boy. I believe he's a smart guy who knows this game and hates to lose. Let him get his hands on some younger guys to see what kind of manager he truly is. Solid post
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 01:07 AM) That ball certainly got out of there quick. It sure escalated quickly.
  24. If there's one thing I absolutely trust about our organization it is the ability to evaluate pitching. Calling the FO dumb for not getting Martinez is ridiculous. Like we know better... GMAFB. After reading about Martinez and looking at his stats for the last 10 minutes I can easily see reasons why he is exciting but also EASILY see reasons why he isn't enough to grab one of the top SS in MLB. Prospect overexcitement is a sickening disease.
