  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 13, 2012 -> 03:44 PM) Fire. Passion. Swagger. I can't believe I defended him for so long; the guy is a POS period. Ego is always the absolute worst of things, and Derrick Rose is the absolute best of things.
  2. QUOTE (sunofgold @ Mar 11, 2012 -> 12:55 PM) I am okay with AJ batting second because right now we don't have anybody better to fill that spot. I think that AJ is our best option right now. Have to agree with Ventura on that decision. Who can you place in the 2-hole that would be better than AJ at this point? Of course I rather seeing AJ batting lower in the order. And who bats second when AJ isn't in the lineup? Hopefully in time somebody will emerge as a #2 hitter. Unfortunately, I don't see anybody else at this point. Maybe Morel is he continues to show progress. But he is going to have continue to draw walks. He did drew 15 walks last September. Just needs to keep doing this. I figure one of our starting outfielders will be garbage so I'm hoping Lillibridge will emerge as our #2 hitter. I hope he goes 4-4 the first time he plays so Robin is forced to keep his bat in there. He hits fastballs harder than Paulie.
  3. This thread is full of good news; best read in a year.
  4. Morel, Beckham, and Viciedo need to become studs. If they do then we become one of the best teams in the league next year and the decade after that. That's KW's plan and here's to hoping we stick to it.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 09:35 AM) It's crazy how little talent can be packed into $97 million. The flip-side is how much talent might be packed in about 5 million of that.
  6. How many guys in the minors can hit 100?
  7. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) GLENDALE, Ariz. — To escape his tortured thoughts after last season, Alex Rios returned home to Puerto Rico and dabbled with golf for the first time. Rios guessed he hit the course daily for two months. "I took my head out of it a little bit and wanted a restart,'' the White Sox outfielder recalled Tuesday. "But it was very frustrating. I played every day, but I didn't get any better.'' Proof came in Rios' low score for 18 holes: 126. So breaking 100 would make it a good day for the bad golfer, right? "Definitely,'' Rios said, laughing. -Chicago Tribune Article So you have a terrible year at the plate...what should I do to fix my swing....i know, I'll play golf! Just what we needed more lazy fly balls from Rios. And how terrible is it that he cant even improve his game, the athlete he is, to a decent level after playing for 2 months? 126 is an average of 7 per hole. You can buy the nicest golf clubs and play any course you want, are a world class professional athlete, you play for 60 straight days, and cant shoot in the low 100s? Alex Rios, congrats, you are my least favorite White Sox player in history. I have no hope you will turn it around, because you lack the ability to adjust. To say you are a professional athlete is a disgrace to professional athletes. What a waste. Just awful. Well now now there; he was swinging something at least.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 28, 2012 -> 05:31 PM) If you're in a situation like last year, where you're doing everything possible to win, then fine, burn the guy in the bullpen like we did with Sale. But if we have time with a guy like Molina (and we do), there's zero reason to start all the arbitration clocks on him right now. He's incredibly raw, he's thrown probably fewer innings in his life than some guys have done in high school, and he's never been above AA. If he earns it, then we can talk next year about a rotation spot early in the season, even better after the super 2 deadline. There is zero reason to push this guy upwards aggressively if we go into this season having cut $25 million from the roster and traded away guys like we did. Save the service time and have him ready to go when he arrives. What if he has nothing left to prove at the minor league level come July/August? Why keep him there if Sale needs the time off? If 2012 is about the kids, then give the kids who earn it a shot. I'd absolutely love it if he forced a call up and at the same time Peavy has value to a contending team; that's as good as it gets for me.
  9. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) Dunn will hit 50 HR and swipe 50 bases while playing Gold Glove D in CF. That's my kind of prediction. 60/60 would be crazy talk.
  10. De Aza The Bridge Konerko Dunn Viciedo Ramirez Pierzynski Morel Beckham Danks Peavy Floyd Sale Humber As you can see, I hope Rios is cut somehow in ST; Lillibridge is better than the best Rios IMO.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 17, 2012 -> 12:41 PM) We're gonna win the AL Central just to piss everyone else off Absolutely. I hate all the blatant ignorance out there; like our moves aren't even worth really looking at or thinking about.
  12. I'll never forget that game-winning slide into home against Oakland. Thomas doubled off the wall and Stache scored from first I think. Then there were fireworks after all that. Maybe my best night at the cell.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) Balta, not trying to flame, explain to me how this year isn't "all-in" compared to last year. Just because we don't have Mark? The same bodies are here with Sale filling in for Mark. What young guys are we playing to not be all-in?? Many consider Tank an upgrade over CQ. DeAza over Pierre is an upgrade as well. I kind of agree with you here. There is a lot of potential suck on the roster though, but some sort of Twinkie, small ball approach might work. I think if De Aza comes out of the gate blazing we'll have a really good shot; like Pods Syndrome in '05.
  14. Ha! I didn't do it on purpose but I suppose my subconscious will take some credit. Have the White Sox ever had a guy get TJS and then come back way stronger? I can't remember any so maybe it's our turn.
  15. Dude had TJ Surgery. Anybody know his status?
  16. QUOTE (mumbles3k @ Feb 3, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) Looking over the roster, it seems that there will probably be about 4 guys on the team this year who weren't on the team for at least part of last year. That's fewer than I expected, but is it still a lot? Fewer than I expected too but it makes sense with the contracts. Sold high on Santos and sold probably as high as we could on Quentin. Job well done in my book. But next year we hopefully get to sell higher on Peavy, sell Rios somehow hopefully, and AJ will come off the books. That'll give us a pretty high turnover over a 2-3 year stretch counting Morel, De Aza, Lilli, Viciedo, Flowers and Bacon. Add to that these new pitchers sliding into spots. If our kids start panning out we could be young n stocked for a long time. Not ready to send KW to the firey furnaces yet. Let's all just hope Ozzie was holding everyone back and now we are fixed.
  17. Sweet Moses, I hate everything about that fan who wrote that to Gonzo. That's the worst type of fan IMO. Cue my vomit at the ignorance pretending to represent the majority.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 2, 2012 -> 05:29 PM) Are you serious? Are you really suggesting that completely ignoring one of the largest providers of talent isn't a big deal? How exactly would you build a consistent winner without strong contributions from the draft and amatuer international signings? We should be going for a 3-peat this year but the players failed KW. So I like that he's restocking the farm and hopefully they turn into major leaguers either by themselves or through trade. I have a feeling that KW is going to have plenty of bullets to fire after this season. Our minor league system is quietly underrated, rising fast as hell. He fired all the bullets going for it the last few years but the players failed him. He's almost ready to start shooting again. Can't wait. I love KW because you ALWAYS know he's gonna go for it.
  19. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 12:10 PM) I doubt he has the right to fire Ventura either. I think Ventura was a Chairman Reinsdorf hire. But does Ventura have any children with anuses that eat and mouths that vomit farts?
  20. Why do we want him teaching our young hitters how to be fat and clog up bases?
  21. As one dude would say, I'll take that layup in HORSE here.
  22. I'm taking Thornton unless Reed wins the closer role outa ST. The question is which is a more pressure-packed situation for Matty T: The responsibility of closing out games for the 2011, All-In White Sox? Or the pressure that comes with getting your redemption shot on a team with no expectations. Last year's melt-downs have to be fresh in his mind, so I can totally see his thought process being something like, "Don't screw this up, don't screw this up, don't screw this up or I'll never get another shot at closing again." He'd be a whipped-up, homeless puppy if he takes a s*** out there again this year. Basically I don't think he can succeed in the closer role being a 1 pitch lefty so I'm preparing myself emotionally for some epic meltdowns.
  23. I can't even think of the last good left-handed bat we had and we've won a world series, so whatever. I guess you could argue Thome was this bat, but you could also argue he hurt the team as well with his 1 dimensional stuff. And considering most teams don't have a power LH bat, I'd say it's not that big of a deal. Gotta wait on Mr. Dunn to try n impersonate Mr. Thome. But a .300 hitter from the left side with pop to all fields and a nice walk to K rate?? Haha I'd love one man, sign me up!
