  1. I still think De Aza is a stud based on some of his numbers from Florida...not his overall numbers just some of the samples. I feel like he got the shaft over there..maybe the balls too.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 11:15 AM) Logan...your crazy. Morel is gonna be a nice guy to have at 3rd for a while. We stuck with Crede for a loooooong time. I think Morel has more rope than most young guys on the team. Hot corner D is so important.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Only if they're really trying to keep D1. I don't really care what my brother does. Does this really matter? Although we don't play MLB..
  4. Can't we just put Frank Thomas out there? I bet he still puts up a .250.400
  5. Dunn is doing what he's supposed to be doing: sucking.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:59 AM) Ozzie walked 239 times in his ENTIRE career, good for a .287 career OBP. Is it possible because Ozzie couldn't ever take a walk in the majors yet played 16 seasons, he severely underrates OBP as a statistic? Or maybe just doesn't care about it at all? In theory he should love the Brent Lillibridge-type player, a guy who can barrel-up any fastball and impact the game. But he doesn't really play him much either so I don't know what he likes anymore.
  7. Thought I'd log in to say something I've wanted to for over a year: Welcome to The South Side Mr. Teahen!
  8. I wish there were more threads where you could just ramble off Sox rant or praise, like just how you are feeling about something that particular day. Ideally the posts wouldn't need to really make too much of a point like in most threads here. What about a Prove Me Wrong On Something WhiteSox thread where you can try and king ridiculous claims?
  9. If I'm understanding right you are referring to douchey comments like, "See, there's really no reason for Ozzie to still be our manager, anybody can see that". Yes?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) The Twins had five runs in two games. That isn't exactly "knocking around" a pitching staff. Ah let me rephrase. Why was a Twins team full of minor leaguers able to scratch out enough hits to win but we can't? Would Blackburn shut them down? I just doubt it. I'm so sick of being the definition of Streaky.
  11. I agree completely with J4L. We had a great chance to take over the city but I think we still do. The cubs are going backwards in every facet imaginable. There's still plenty of time. I can't figure out this offense one bit, like there's some disease lingering where the bats are kept. Why can a Twins team full of minor leaguers knock our pitching around while we can't touch Pavano or Blackburn? Those kids must have been sitting fastball the entire game and it worked. Why can't we command pitch counts? I hate every AB I watch almost. And AJ is one of the worst baseball players on the planet and he bats in the wrong spot; he almost always kills any work the heart of the order has done. It's all about our hitting the last few years. That's it IMO. We flat out can't hit. We can always pitch and we can hit every once in a while, but we can't hit overall. Walker's head on a pike by sundown or im outa here.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 10:40 AM) Fiddling with the lineup? Only desperate managers do that. Ozzie admitting that we're toast. A pile of vomit is a pile of vomit is a pile of vomit.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 17, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) I wonder how many balls Pierre has hit this year that were hit hard enough that you would NEED a glove to catch them. 6...maybe 7? It's sad when you can't even force an error every now and then.
  14. We have a lot of guys turning some corners this year. Kuhn just seems to get it now. Kinda like when PK flipped the switch last year and figured something out. You can't suck and bat .370 for this long can you? Interested in compiling a list of our best if anybody wants to contribute.
  15. I don't believe any of those stats in the thread title. I feel AJ fails about 80% of the time.
  16. We'll all play just the tip, but we don't like it.
  17. I'd just like to add that Hawk needs to take a break from this topic: "To all you youngsters out there...you don't have to be a good breaking ball hitter; just cover the fastball" It's fabulous advice but he's saying it waaaay too often this year. Let's not totally dead-horse that one Hawk. Hawk loves the kid on the Dodgers that went 4-4 against us that one game. I'm sure it would become a new man-crush if we played them more.
  18. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 15, 2011 -> 10:43 AM) After reading the article, this is probably something as simple as a reporter asking Peavy how he thinks he could do in a bullpen role, to which any pitcher (especially someone as team-oriented as Jake) would give a similar response to. What was he gonna say if asked about it directly? No? Once they get what they want to hear, they make it seem like one day Peavy woke up and out of the blue declared that he wants to go to the bullpen. Absolutely. It's the Phil Rogers's style of writing. Albert Pujols said the word "cubs" the other day and was seen on the north side so he must be looking for apartments and schools.
  19. So in theory I want our highest OBP guy not named Konerko or TCQ batting leadoff, with our best fastball hitter (Bridge?) batting 2nd.
  20. A closer is supposed to lose some games for you. Santos is really young and raw and has a wonderful attitude. He'd been getting the job done up until Oakland as opposed to Thornton who blew chunks immediately. I'm more than willing to give Santos some rope here as he has the potential to be a really, really good closer. He's a good story all around.
  21. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 06:38 PM) Here is a pertinent article. Of course it's just the random musings of some guy, but I like the part about Kenny Williams. For the record, I don't hate Juan cause the guy works hard. It's clear though, that he's getting older and has lost a step. Pierre sure does seem like a wonderful man. It's sad that Viciedo is going to push him off the roster, but I think Pierre understands more than anybody that this kid is better than him and better for the team. Pierre will still get his ring.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Thornton's failure had nothing to do with him being LHed, and everything to do with him suddenly becoming totally ineffective. Obviously. But since most batters are RH his failure just makes it even more obvious that it's not a good idea with the game on the line.
  23. I felt like I was the only one in the Milledge Lillibridge thread choosing The Bridge. I've never been told I was stupid more in my life. I hope The Bridge keeps this up. Guilty of thinking Adam Dunn was a horrible horrible signing, but man it sure is nice when he throws up a quick 3 runs. Guilty of thinking Sale should be the closer. Never again will I think a lefty closer is a good idea. Guilty of calling 2011 yet another version of Thome Dye corpseball. If it wins us the division then corpseball is ok in my book.
