  1. My MLB.tv says I'm in the blackout area, but yet the Astros are on TV here, not the Rangers. Nothing like a nice slice of dick pie when you been looking forward to something a bit tastier all day.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 16, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) I can deal with a Vlad comparison, but making statements that ignore or denigrate #35's legendary eye and knowledge of the strike zone grinds my gears. Well, don't let it grind your gears. It's just baseball. I know it's been 20 years since we had a prospect like this, but it's ok to get excited. Let it happen. He looks good and he's going to force a change up here. It's a good thing man!
  3. And it will send a message to KW. I have full faith in my fellow SoxTalk brethren to Boo mercilessly.
  4. D Tank V has a season changing bat. Yes he could bust out, but man, that bat is frickin electric. I'll take Tank's .305 OBP over JP's career OBP even though it's probably 40 points worse. Shoe string homers? Caaaaaaaaaaamon already KW. Let this Vlad/Thomas hybrid play some ball.
  5. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ May 16, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) Ugh, I don't know why this is such a joke to a lot of you. There is zero accountability on this team, I guess unless you're a young guy. It's dumb if it's a joke because you're speaking some good truth. I wish our catcher had more pressure behind him but we may not see that til next year, if ever. So sad. I think AJ needs to bat ninth for the rest of his tenure here. Oh wait, so does Pierre. Oh yea, and Beckham and Morel too. 4 easy outs outa 9- damn.
  6. Isn't the success rate damn near 100% now? Are we just lucky they aren't doing it every time even average speed is on 1B? Would you run like crazy against us?
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ May 12, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) Danks is not being called up. Thankfully. I have no interest in a Triple Decker s*** Sandwich of Beckham Morel and Danks spewing garbage for 1/3 of our ABs. No thanks. But Tanks.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 12, 2011 -> 07:24 AM) I'm with Lillian. Just get JP off the field. I can't take it anymore. I know. This will take some KW intervention. Simply calling up Viciedo won't guarantee playing time because like somebody else mentioned, Ozzie won't play him over Pierre. JP needs off the team. Lillibridge does everything he does better. I love The Bridge.
  9. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 11, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) You mean the team with Juan Pierre leading off and a rotating DH like he wanted last year? Yup, worked out great. That's the King Kong of generalizations. I hope you can see that. Ugh. The minute anybody brings up the idea of having a team of athletic guys who work counts and take what the pitcher gives them it gets lumped into this "we already tried this (with s***ty players mind you)" argument. Ugh again. Why always take the OBVIOUS dead-horse argument out of the archives, ya know? Is it because it's easy? I dunno. Do you people really think Ozzie wants JPs weak ass out there? Good Lord.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:02 AM) The 2010 white sox had the 2nd fewest strikeouts in the AL. The 2011 White Sox have the 3rd fewest strikeouts in the AL. lol. If you think our guys are tough outs then you are entitled to that opinion. We've been all or nothing forever. I hope we turn it around this year, I really do, but part of me hopes Ozzie gets the team he wants one of these years.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 10, 2011 -> 11:19 PM) I tell you, that's just a stupid organizational decision. Humber has done great, but he's odd man out and should be in relief til Jake gets hurt again. I'll tell you what's going to happen. The starters will start to suck now. Why? Cause "that's the way we fly." This will screw them up because something always screws us up (aside from 2005) Nobody on the team is a tough out; same s*** every year. Long HR swings are Kenny's type of player. High K's be damned.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ May 9, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) Perfect! We definitely seem to let the pitcher/scouting report work us over and show little plan at the plate to overcome the likely pitch selection. I just don't get why we have to swing hard at every pitch. Maybe our park just creates horrible habits? Whatever happened to taking what the pitcher gives you? I thought Beckham was going to be a genius at that.
  13. Sometimes I wish Donny Lucy was our catcher.
  14. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 1, 2011 -> 05:02 PM) These two teams will still be the ones battling for the division title come September and the games played at this point could make the difference. I realize that not everyone can afford to go to every game....but based upon the crowds thus far, there's a lot of people who haven't gone to any games (or just a few this year). If the fanbase is not going to support this team, why should the players give a damn? Anybody who wants this team to give a 110% effort every nite should also be willing to give that effort as a fan. LOL. Dude, it's baseball. At no time should any of this be taken seriously, or personally. It's about entertainment and this team is not entertaining right now. Let's all just sit back and watch the best player in the NBA manhandle the Hawks tonight. That s*** is fun to watch. When the Bulls' season finally ends there is a good chance the Sox'll be back in it.
  15. Ugh. Replace KW with what exactly? A GM like those 20 or so mediocre teams have? Or like the ones the deep pocket teams have? It took the Rays and Rangers over 10 years to grow their teams, after a lot of failure from top prospects washing out. 10 years man, 10 years. I like our living dangerously close to the edge style. We can squeeze a top prospect up every once in a while, but for the most part, those prospects are used as trading bullets. I don't mind having a chance every year. I really don't. The Yanks n Red Sox have just enough more coin than us to consistently carry an extra All-Star or two. It's just cash, not KW.
  16. The division standings look upside down so there's no reason for me to panic. Look, Cleveland and KC are playing well while Minny and the Sox aren't. Since the talent levels don't equal these standings, the only explanation I can find is that this is a classic case of being sample-sized. We held home court vs Tampa, they're holding home court so far vs us, we need to even things up with the Angels in a few weeks, and we're 3-2 in the division. Nothing heading to Detroit can't fix.
  17. QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 12:19 AM) I m kinda new to this board but is it always like this? It isnt bad or anything to you know have debates about opinions but if it gets to a point where its the norm and where the topics are hillarious like the one we had today about Dunn then yea..... Dude. This is the most ridiculous post I've ever seen. So full of lies. This is like the lonely kid in gym class kinda walking by thinking he might get picked because he talked to Steven about gold fish at the water fountain earlier. No worries mate, there aren't any firepits, snakes and Soxtalk drums banging at the initiation, just post whatever you want. First rule of Soxtalk: There's no limping into Soxtalk.
  18. Oh please...please...can I be the one to give you the update?
  19. I still think 10M more for Soriano would have been ALL IN THAT ASS. Oh wait, but Soriano sucks this year, Yanks are doomed. I think our team looks pretty deep if you look at pretty much any other roster. Strap it DOWN he says.
  20. I agree with the OP. I hated the Thome trade and the Dunn signing simply because I don't like this type of player. Saber guys love him. Guys like us that like watching players who can get creative with the baseball will often be frustrated with Dunn. But he sure is gonna hit a bunch of crowd-pleasers and he's on my favorite team, so we gotta get over it dude. Cheer for the man.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 06:58 PM) Just can't imagine any team looking for bullpen help this early. There's been some good ideas floated around. But it's just too early. Absolutely. But there is also a flip-side to that coin (I see you coming around that corner, I won't hesitate; not for a second): at some point it becomes too late and every team is looking for another reliever. But yea, WAAAY too early...by at least a month.
  22. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) I would guess that that kind of stuff happened back than, more than we think. What I really wonder is how many games in the past 30 years or so have been thrown. If any. Great question. It would be silly to think that this doesn't happen today, as greed is timeless. I've had the impression that Jay Cutler has thrown a few games so far here....or maybe he's just that bad sometimes. Not saying Cutler or other players simply place bets, but I think something far bigger than the players goes on sometimes. Anytime somebody powerful gets dirt on a player there is potential for blackmail. People think Pete Rose was as bad as it can get but I think it's far worse to have somebody forcing you to tank a game.
  23. QUOTE (oldsox @ Apr 13, 2011 -> 01:55 PM) Could he have caught those two fly balls dropped by JP? Hell yea. Probly dead center in the glove too.
