  1. Wow that’s terrifying how easy this spreads. And now with the riots and many states opening, we’re for sure going to see exponential death across the board. There’s no other possible outcome. Death will grow exponentially since spreading will do the same. Only 2 million people have it.
  2. Well here we go right? If we don’t see the exponential death in the coming weeks... gonna be surprising right? Obviously we should expect to see some growth since we simply flattened the curve with social distancing and staying home somewhat and never tried to snuff out the virus. But if we don’t see EXPONENTIAL death...how can that possibly be explained? Countries around the world opening up, but 90% of the populations are still vulnerable. We know how infectious it is. So here we go. Exponential death. It must be so. The narrative this whole time ONLY supports that particular outcome. So here we go. Buckle up. Stay home. This thing is about to be a brushfire.
  3. You’re always super calm and polite man. It’s admirable. You’d actually be good in any leadership position. Yelling, screaming, shaming, ridiculing - that’s children and the weak.
  4. It’s almost like our top experts knew this was going to happen so they decided on a flatten the curve policy instead of a quarantine policy.
  5. While true, I DO think waaaay more people have it than reported by many magnitudes, let’s not move the goal posts. I’m saying the plan around the world seems to be “let everyone get the virus”. Outside of a few countries, this seems to be the case, no?
  6. The plan isn’t to let everyone eventually get the virus? Sure seems that way. ?
  7. Outside of a few countries, it looks like the worldwide plan to let everyone contract the virus but slower is still right on schedule since the start. Still have people arguing about all kinds of different trees while the forest is right there staring them in the face.
  8. My brother just started watching the old Bond movies and texted me that “every boomer whoever ejaculated over these movies should be shot and same with every woman that’s wanted to bang Sean Connery for the last 70 years. This guy couldn’t lift 10 pounds over his head.”
  9. Can you help me understand how it SHOULD have been done? You’re President Balta, it’s the end of January and Fauci is telling the American people between Jan 20-26 this is not something Americans need to worry about, that the risk over here is low, but that they are closely monitoring it. Not sure what he’s telling Trump but that’s the message out there. Meanwhile hundreds of thousands of people are flying in and out of China and Wuhan. What do you do to ensure only a few thousand deaths?
  10. So what does this mean? Is it accurate to say that 21300 people felt sick enough to go get tested and 2300 of them tested positive for Covid?
  11. Exactly. Just because something is open doesn’t mean there will be participation whatsoever. Who the hell wants to go to a bar, restaurant, plane, train, vacation right now...basically anywhere that isn’t home or the Covid-infested grocery stores. There’s a ticking nuclear economic missile flying towards us and opening doesn’t stop it. Just think of all the restaurant pubs bars where some guy or group of people open it up and call it “John’s or Gametime”, or whatever the fuck they think makes it novel because it has TVs and serves booze. Are those places going to make it? Rent could be 5-20k alone for some of these places. It’s a shitshow. im really scared for when people stop getting that $600. Maybe it won’t be as bad as I’m saying? I feel like the only things that will stop it are a vaccine or some proof that most people have already been exposed to the virus.
  12. I agree, but I think you’d agree that the real shitstorm brewing is unemployment. People are not taking this seriously enough. It’s all roses and sunshine right now, but if the restaurant and hotel industries, and basically tourism in general, don’t return within the next two months, there’s going to be total mayhem. Once all the people who populate those industries stop receiving their little $600 poppers in July...holy shit. That doesn’t even take into account all the hundreds of thousands of businesses integrated with those industries that may not come back. Once the $600 goes away, unemployment won’t be enough to control the masses. That was the whole point of the $600.
  13. I wouldn’t mind giving him a Lucas Harrel start at some point when we are 30 games over .500
  14. But don’t we have mechanisms pushing back now? Capacity: Plenty of room for more at hospitals. It’s hard to tell how true this is or not, but it seems that way. Identify: Healthcare knows what they are dealing with now (vs March-April rush and total confusion). Treatment: Healthcare is getting better every day at saving lives. Not rushing to intubate any more, proning, oxygen etc. Supplies: Ventilator-gate never happened. PPE supply is increasing daily since the rush. Public Awareness: People are all wearing masks, making masks, social distancing, practicing way better hygiene, working from home etc. Yes there are morons too, but generally, everyone is being super safe. Sure there are plenty of examples of idiocy and failures in all of the above, but overall, this has been a pretty remarkable mobilization and adaptation of the American people over 6-8 weeks. I think the “real” flattened curve is whatever it looks like with people out and about but wearing masks, businesses open but with 6-10’ spacing, social distancing, washing hands, avoiding handshakes/hugs and generally isolating as much as possible. So yes I agree we will see plenty of spike, but 18 month quarantine doesn’t seem realistic to me either, or even beneficial. We went from “Totally Unprepared” to hopefully “As Prepared As We Can Be, Realistically”. You’re in Texas somewhere too, right? We are basically Sweden-lite, like it or not. That’s the path Texas has chosen. Do you think we’ll see hospitals getting overrun? It’s certainly possible, but it would come slower than NY right?
  15. Bingo. The whole point of us flattening the curve was to not overwhelm hospitals as the virus continues to spread. It is supposed to keep spreading. Why does that fact seem to get lost so easily? When did elimination and containment replace flattening the curve?
  16. Are they quarantining ALL foreigners who enter? If so, for how long?
  17. Ha. Dude I’m upping my percentage now that Caulfield says 4-5 million people left Wuhan the first 3 weeks of January. 63% minimum.
  18. Yes yes yes yes. Dude the power of this incomplete data is truly remarkable. This is what I’ve been saying the whole time. We don’t know anything. May 13th and we still have absolutely no idea how many people have the virus. We can’t even make educated guesses yet. All we can do is guess based on the number of people who have been sick enough to get tested. That’s it. Is that a chunk of the iceberg or just the Vince Vaughn tip? Who knows. But for some reason we have mortality rates? Like wtf is that? All we know is that it is killing old people and black people disproportionately and it sucks. I’m not sure what else we really KNOW.
  19. Exactly. The complete lack of actionable data is really frustrating. And then you have all the hospitals themselves on life support because they are businesses too, hemorrhaging money because they are mostly empty and furloughing staff like crazy. Not saying they are all doing it, but checking the COVID box and grabbing all the extra money isn’t THAT crazy of a leap to make. These are messed up times.
  20. Greg I do agree that you will get the virus. Most people will. Our national strategy was to let it spread, but hopefully slow it down some to not overwhelm hospitals. That was it. Nothing more, nothing less. You know that gives me an idea. Maybe we should have volunteer virus distribution places. All the people too bothered to wear masks can just go get infected for free and get it over with. All the young people that want to swarm beaches. Go get some free virus at the drive thru. All the “patriots”. Go prove how tough you are. Have some virus in the face. Only caveat is you have to go stay at some giant amphitheater while the disease runs its course.
  21. Why would a country treat a US traveler differently? Is it fair to use S.Korea as an example since they have had the most draconian and successful virus containment to this point? Since 99.99999% of their population is still completely vulnerable to infection...why would a US visitor be treated differently than a Spanish, Nigerian, Indian etc. visitor? Isn’t S. Korea still going to quarantine every international traveler for 14-21 days? Doesn’t that have to be their unwavering policy until a vaccine is deployed? Otherwise, what they did was pointless. They have to remain completely isolated and locked down until mass vaccination can occur. What am I missing?
  22. Anything’s possible. We obviously don’t know. I’d argue the only thing it’s telling you is that the MLB people are probably a super rich, heavily-quarantined population compared to a general sample of an American city. I would have expected quite a bit more though for sure. Maybe you’re right, maybe we can contain it. That just seems crazy to me.
  23. Dang. Guess we gotta add a few hundred more cases to the tens of millions of other cases to trace and contain. Can’t believe a few more slipped through the cracks. Now it’s probably out there spreading like absolute wildfire. Man we had it.
  24. I think you got autocorrected to fruit.
