  1. Ok so if reports are that it’s killing 4 in 2000 healthy young people that still just means 4 in 2000 REPORTED cases. So we have to assume there is some number greater than zero representing asymptomatic infections who never get tested. What if that number is huge? Say for every 2000 reported cases there are another 2000 asymptomatic cases. so you go from .002 to .0005 death rate. is this crazy talk? Maybe the nursing home thing in Washington says this is crazy talk. EDIT: what if half of Italy’s population actually has corona virus (30 million) and only 12,000 have symptoms, rushing to hospitals to get tested. And then 800 of those have died. that would explain america’s lack of testing.
  2. It’s just strange. So my personal experience is my family has had back to back flu over the course of the last month- caught it from sister in law end of January. Wife and young kid going through it again right now, but it’s different. I never get sick, like ever and I had it 3 or so weeks ago for a few days. And then I got 2 customers the last few days calling us saying “hey, my wife/husband is sick but we called and don’t qualify for a test so we understand if you don’t want to send anybody to work over here for a while.” And I’m in a pretty big popular city in America that has yet to have a single confirmed case in the county or surrounding counties. Not 1. But yet people have been flying around the world with corona for a couple of months, through our international airport. If it’s as infectious as claimed, then the amount of infected in my city isn’t zero but probably tens of thousands minimum, including myself and my family. I personally think hundreds of thousands in my city have it and maybe the actual percentage that even show symptoms is waaaay lower than thought. I dunno. Just trying to think it through
  3. I just don’t think any of this is as simple as “America is dropping the ball”. No way. We knew about in December. It was flying all over the world for 2 months. Our smart people knew that. Trump isn’t an idiot. I feel like this is all an act. Not testing seems to be our strategy so I’m trying to figure out why.
  4. maybe not having tests is on purpose. Plus having expensive health care...maybe that’s the best defense? go down that rabbit hole for sec.
  5. Hang in there man- I hope today is a better day for your little one
  6. Basically like 5 of the last 30 number 4 picks have ever produced even 10 career bWAR. So 25 of the last 30 drafts have amounted to jack at #4. Get that ceiling boys! and the Sox are responsible for 2 of them ? know who they are?
  7. Nah. I don’t agree with this at all. Maybe I’m reading your tone wrong but it sounds like you’re saying this as fact instead of opinion. Which, nah.
  8. Wait a minute. We’re SO progressive now that we can’t mention death in a conversation about a virus killing people? We have hurt feelings by the unaffected while real people are actually suffering, dying and losing loved ones? Hawk would just say, “mercy”
  9. I think the elderly are going to be smart and hunker down for a while. In the US it’s not as customary for generations to live under the same house, so generally the elderly are isolated pretty well to their communities. I think with how spread out our country is, if the elderly wait it out pretty smartly for a few months or whatever, you’ll probably see the lowest death rates in the US. With all the food and resource delivery we have, I think we’ll be all right.
  10. Well said. I was just thinking about something. It seems backwards, but maybe our for-profit health system is our best defense as a herd. If it was the other way you’d have every sniffle at the hospital mixing with the actual virus carriers. When this is over, maybe it’s time we all write a letter to corporate America thanking them for medical and pharmaceutical greed. ?
  11. I’m starting to think that the US will be okay and that the prognostications of overflowing hospitals with no beds and no doctors left by May is bananas-level crazy.
  12. I’m sure not looking like Dayan Viciedo standing there would help
  13. I’m expecting the team to do well enough for people to drop the whole act about comparing this rebuild to anything JR, KW, & RH have done in the past. This is a whole new thing- impossible to compare to anything in the history of the Sox. Absolutely impossible BTW love the 1981 stuff. I’m referring to post 2000
  14. Feel bad for James. It was probably last year‘s best story. What a huge success turning that cast-off into one of the top catchers in the game (depending how you see the breakout). Everything about him was awesome and he earned being our starting catcher for the next 5 years. I feel really bad for him.
  15. Sure there are some people who are just stupid super rich. But if you’re not in that club, then you’re in the “everybody else” club. And that’s okay when you look at it that way.
  16. Eh. There was no stopping this. It traveled all over the world Jan-Feb. It was over by New Years in reality. Wash your hands and avoid hookers and blow for a few months
  17. Man I’d love to see that in some other-worldly numbers. What’s your guess? .350/.475/.625
  18. Word. Just incredible. I’m rooting so hard for this dude. His channel is the most interesting baseball footage I have ever seen. this is the future
  19. At least we don’t have to talk about that stuff anymore now that the new plan and direction are front and center
  20. If there’s any team that has the ability to locate the HS pitching version of Mike Trout, it’s the White Sox at #11. I love the idea of going HS pitching the first three rounds. That would give us 5 HS pitchers out of our top 6 picks over two years. Gettin it done, son!
  21. I think he is the FO’s #1 plan going back a year, hence Mazara. Adolfo having a big year all but guarantees 7-8 straight championships
