The cubs actually had a magic horseshoe pitching staff that had career years across the board. Similar to 2005 -
Dear FO: Harper VS Machado, Soxtalk Will Help You Decide
Jerksticks posted a topic in Pale Hose Talk
This thread is only for deciding which of the two would be a smarter signing by the White Sox. Hopefully we’ll figure it out and alleviate some of the legwork for the FO. Criteria to consider: - Position and how it interacts with current and future White Sox depth at said position - Marketability - General Badassedness - Price and Value - Handedness Batting - 7 to 10 year projection - Does one excite you more? Why? - Any ridiculous personal reasons will definitely be considered I’ll start by making the point that I think Harper is a smarter signing because it almost ensures that the Sox’ OF depth is in fact, outfield depth. It takes the pressure off of having three young dudes having to produce out there. Finally, it would allow us to use not only outfield depth, but premium outfield depth to address another position of less depth (3B, C, SS, 1B). So signing Harper really almost guarantees a second badass player at another position acquired via trade. It’s really getting 2 players for 1. -
I think Kavanaugh ends up not getting the appointment. I don’t think any level of investigating will clean the stain off of this nomination. Trump doesn’t want a stained court. I think Trump would rather nominate somebody else than deal with “asterisk” questions forever.

Sox have "flexibility" to add "long term pieces"

Quality post. I find it hard to have an opinion other than this. I’m good at playing devil’s advocate with my own beliefs, but even after that, I still always end up feeling very similarly to this post. -
You totally missed the point and then turned me into a bigot. Thanks man!

Norway has a population of like 5 Million all-white people who live in the same area in the same climate and have the same religion and really no need for capitalism Not saying DemSoc wouldn’t work here Just pointing out that modeling anything after these tiny little pockets of white people is the beginning of every stupid idea ever proposed “Let’s be more like Sweden” should be a disqualifier for entry into a rational discussion I mean why aren’t we marching every day for more diversity in Scandinavia?!

Race for the worst 2018 record (Top 5 pick) again

I trust our FO has a plan in place to draft the best player at 6 so we can smash the cubs and ruin their fans’ season. -
Absolutely. It might be good enough for me to ignore every other “cute” word that comes out of his mouth. It’s a phenomenal 2 words.

Dude, Kavanaugh, just step down. The court of public opinion has already convicted you. There are plenty of qualified judges without questionable pasts. Let trump nominate somebody else.

Yep, they hated that Still salty

I’m starting to think Harper is a great idea. Like priority A #1. That way our OF depth in the minors can be used to acquire other players at other positions. Sign Arenado the next year and ship off outfielders to fill the final holes with all stars instead of veteran free agents like most teams have to. Basically OF is deep in our minors but why not make that a certainty?

How does a computer map a perfect three dimensional zone at every stadium currently? How do they get the data

I like signing Corbin this year and Arenado next year. I LOVE signing Corbin AND Harper this year and then of course Arenado the following year

No! Blame the FO for not using X-ray vision. Why are people pissed and trying to get people fired? It’s fucking baseball who cares?

Agreed. It sounds cool. It’s probably like politics when some body like that lady in New York says “I believe everybody should have a good job, everybody should have great insurance, everybody should have free college etc.” Idealism always clashes with the reality of a situation. Seems like the case probably here too. But I hope you get your way!

Love every word. Co-sign this powerful piece of post

So I’m looking at Minnesota stats on BR for 2003 and their pitching was horrible. We couldn’t buy a 5th starter but how did we lose to this: https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIN/2003.shtml Frickin Joe Mays?

How many wins do the Bears get this season
Jerksticks replied to Kyyle23's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If Mitch just stays the same it feels like 9-10. Remember who he was throwing to last year? Me neither. Kendall Wright best target? Every position is better or a year more experienced. Just feels like 9-10 is the average of outcomes, with 7-8 and 11-12 easily possible. And there is no science behind that -

Interesting take. I wonder if most agree. It’s interesting to blame somebody specific for it. I always picture a big team of people that works on maximizing and growing our pitchers, including the pitcher. Maybe they are really working on some specific stuff? Maybe it’s more on Lopez? Just seems like there are so many variables to just call things failures and blame people. I mean the Sox invested a lot of time and currency into Lopez...you don’t think everybody is working super hard to make him realize his potential?
