  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 18, 2017 -> 01:36 PM) Its hard to prove intent, but making the allegations distracts from all of the other terrible things he has done which are easier to prove. The attack line of Trump is racist, womanizer, etc. didnt work. We can either keep trying something that didnt work, or we can realize that it didnt work and try something else. I personally think that now Trump has track record in politics, we should just stick to attacking that record. I think there is a chance that by the next election every person in America will have their life personally impacted in a negative way by what Trump does. That is what the focus should be on. There will be positives too. Do you ultimately think the negatives will outweigh the positives?
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 14, 2017 -> 11:22 PM) I'll back off on my opinion if we're told by somebody in the know that Avi is hated in the clubhouse and/or a jerk as I have no idea about his role in the clubhouse. As a fan I was thinking Avi busts his ass "trying" to get to balls and has improved his hitting a lot and apears to play with the zest that the Royals fan I was talking about was mentioning. In my opinion, Avi is a joyful player and busts his ass and that is a good trait for a team. For sure man. I think the issue is more insurance for the prospects. I say keep them around at least the next two years. Hard to imagine a prospect pushing Avi out if he keeps it up. But if that situation does arise, welcome to the juggernaut baby.
  3. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 13, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) A heck of a lot more insured than having no insurance aka infinite deductible. If I have a 10k deductible and not that much cash, I'm going to be in a bad financial spot if something happens but much, much better off than not having insurance and needing hundreds of thousands in treatment for cancer. Yes but people who NEED 10k worth of medical care EVERY year AND make a bit more than the subsidy levels (the vast majority of Americans) are getting crushed with 10k a year they can't afford. Basically having a family, an ok job, and a house becomes near impossible. This is what most of America is going through since ACA.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:10 AM) Eloy is limited defensively and is barely into AA. He will probably not get to the majors until 2019 at the earliest. Haha July 2018 absolute latest. That's because he'll be slashing .350/.450/.650
  5. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) I don't think he's a scared pansy at all. I think he was overworked, and his emotions (anger) got the better of him. We've seen the emotions with him, on and off the field. Hopefully he'll get a chance to pitch again this year. Oh sorry i typed that weird. I meant the fan. The hindsight negative told you so pansy fan. That's the worst. I prefer this flavor of meatball because at least it's funny.
  6. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) If Sale had gone out yesterday and dominated while striking out 15 Astros, a thread would have been created saying look what the White Sox missed out on. And there would be comments about how Moncada didn't really impress and how Kopech will end up blowing his arm out soon enough. I tend to think that he was overworked in the regular season, especially with the Red Sox having him go back to being more of a strikeout pitcher. Add to that the evidence that he can get emotional and tends to overthrow when pissed off. If he gets to pitch again this post season we'll get a chance to see if last night was a one off or he's cooked for the year. Yes we have 2 meatballs available on the menu: The pansy scared one you alluded to... And the no balls, overworked washout lamewad Still glad it's the latter, at least til his next start.
  7. I love max meatball threads. Saley No Stones
  8. Would anybody trade Kopech for Sale straight up right now? Probably everybody. But there's a realistic chance that not many would make the same trade at the end of 2018. Sure Sale will be coming off a CY and is ridiculous, but if Kopech keeps dominating, he might have similar peripherals and come at 600k per year. I know that's optimistic but it's not ludicrous. Just crazy to think about their value rankings could change as early as the end of 2018 or 2019. Glad we traded Sale when we did.
  9. Catcher is such a critical position without offense even considered. Dude can take all the time he needs IMO. Glad it seems he works his ass off like Flo
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 11:03 PM) Well, it's not often pitchers like Sale get traded. IIRC, the last was Seattle trading Randy Johnson to Houston which I think was '98 so it definitely doesn't happen often. Don't remember the prospect rankings on the players Seattle got in return but I'm pretty confident none were close to the likes of Moncada and Kopech. Will we ever see a prospect return similar to Moncada and Kopech for a pitcher like Sale? It's possible but I think that will be a long time from now. What's even more fun to think about is if Basabe develops into anything close to his ceiling. Time and patience are the keys with him. Yea on Basabe. I guess my point is that a guy with Chris's value may never get traded again. So is it fair to say this is the most a team can get for any one player? If so it's cool to think the Sox traded the most valuable player ever traded.
  11. My question is this- will a more VALUABLE player ever be traded? Basically the best pitcher in the game who is lefty, in his prime, locked up on a ridiculously cheap deal. Has the bar forever been set? Will a team ever have to offer more than the #1 position prospect and the arguably best pitching prospect? I feel like this deal may never be eclipsed based on value, right or wrong. Was the bar set low or high?
  12. Ah i thought he had 3.5 and above so going to any decimal places more than the standard could be a technicality worth arguing. And good lord man I'm not suggesting another Buxtob at 3.5 bet. Sweet Moses. You and your buddy had the definition of a sweet ass bet. Nice job punking that Twinky
  13. Wow that's a tough one! I mean technically it is under 3.5 but nobody goes beyond 1 decimal point. So who wins? You both have a case. Maybe it's a wash and you double the bet next year. What a bet. This blows my mind on many levels.
  14. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) Sigh, last game. Bummer. More importantly, it's Hawk's last game. One of the reasons I plugged the cable back into my TV this year was to hear Hawk call games in his last season. I got tired of the Hawkisms and his chronic complaining of the umps years ago but I respect the f*** out if his White Sox fandom and am lucky enough to have been there the whole way since he started calling games for the Sox. I consider myself to be a very lucky Sox fan. One more time today Hawk, let all the Hawkisms fly!!! Awe hell, do what you've always wanted to do and let a few cuss words out, f*** it! and go Hawk! Hell yea man! Proud to have you in the Sox brotherhood
  15. No circumstance possible? Did you consider the circumstance where Iguchi calls him and says "White Sox. Fun team."?
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 08:41 AM) Sox didn't really mess this up. Their young players are good and we are better than those other teams currently ahead of us in the draft pick race. It is nice to see our young players playing well heading into next season. For sure. I think we can all agree though that massive bullpen implosions every night would have been preferable. It is what it is- go Sox youngins. This team has been exciting and I can't wait for the most boring offseason in 17 years.
  17. Yea I'm not sure why they had Shields give up on the Stinkball. It was working beautifully.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) The bolded is part of the point I was making. Many smaller insurance companies were forced to close due to the ACA requirements, which leads to the larger companies profiting more and more. And now they are freely able to restrict their policies to different users, that aren't part of their large corporate customer group plans. Blue Cross cut off the majority of their network to individual buyers, and there aren't really any other choices in the Chicago area. I understand your point about the healthy and the young, I guess somebody always has to lose, but middle income people without employee coverage did use health care in the past, now they are the ones who have had it taken away and are have very little options, which isn't fair. Yes anybody who does contract work and isn't making a killing is getting hit hard. And of course the millions of new people every year who can only get contract work because employers want less employees than ever. And what seems like billion dollar deductibles hurts too.
  19. I think Swarzak comes back, gets flipped, comes back again for 2019
  20. This is more a continuation of Wite's point about Beck & Covey in the Rick Hahn thread. How many spots are available on the 2018 roster for "Let Coop Work On 'Em" guys? For sure: Rodon Lopez Giolito Shields Nate Jones? I guess there's tons of room for: Fulmer Fry Bummer Beck Covey Minaya Infante Holmberg They can't all make it, but most of this garbage can have a spot if the Sox choose. I could see Covey going to the Charlotte rotation now that he's Sox property.
  21. QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) No, but it does all the time. Some younger players either think they know it all or are too afraid to try anything different than what has had success for them. Yes this is 100% why I think Fulmer was called up last year.
  22. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 06:02 PM) Given his posts and conspiracy theory nature, I don't know if he knows how to feel bad. Typical garbage and tripe from him. That was way harsh Ty
  23. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Sep 13, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) I understand chasing your dream and wanting to play the best but 2 years is nothing to wait for the hundreds of millions he's leaving on the table. Can he sign for just a couple years or is he subject to the six years, arbitration etc.
  24. So any thoughts on if this was Fulmer with his best stuff? If so then that sucks because what makes pitchers good ones is that they can still not get shelled with their mediocre or bad stuff. If this was middling stuff, then hell yea Fulmer.
  25. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 08:04 PM) Yeah, Engel is a negative WAR player, at -0.4 fWAR in 71 games. Leury is at a +1.1 fWAR in 87 games. Leury was pretty good before the injury, and not as much thereafter. He's also got much more positional versatility than pretty much anyone else in the roster, and is a switch hitter. On balance, if it were a choice between Engel and Leury, I'd probably go with Leury, given that Engel simply can't hit enough to be a starter. I'm also not convinced that Engel is an overall better player than Tilson, but for Tilson being made of glass. I do like competition, and I would not count out any of our cavalcade of middling OF options for next season. I'd let Tilson, Engel, and Liriano duke it out for CF; I'd let Anderson and Leury duke it out @ SS for next season. I highly doubt SS gets any of the treatment you are suggesting. And if the plan is for Davidson to man 3B all year, then Leury's only chance at a starting gig is CF. Personally I think Leury is the perfect super-sub and I'd rather see a Tilson/Engel CF, leaning Engel.
