QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 31, 2010 -> 01:26 AM) Ozzie actually adressed this pretty directly in some comments he made. He confirms what we all know that the, "The Angels have been looking for Konerko for a long time," Guillen said. "That's not my call. Hopefully Konerko is playing good, and then like I say, it makes (the front office) make a decision." http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...0,5191881.story Wow, I'm one of the Ozzie supporters, and I love how he speaks his mind, but I hate this quote. Paulie's a staple to this organization, and while he does make a lot of money, I feel that he's under-appreciated and nobody can blame this terrible start of the season on him. For me, I hope Konerko's putting up good numbers, and is in a white sox uniform. Why make this sort of comment?

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ May 26, 2010 -> 07:19 AM) Man that loss last night was a kick in the nads. What the hell Jake Peavy? Shut up and pitch!!! no doubt about it, he talks about only wanting to play for a contender, but it seems like he's the one stopping the sox from making a run. Come on Buehrls, let's take the series.

GAME THREAD: 4/8, CLE v CHW, 7:10pm CSN+

Im joining the conversation late, but I am gonna be sick to my stomach if Mark Teahen is in the starting lineup tomorrow. The guy's been brutal, and imo he cost us the game tonight -

Nice, he got hi with his out pitch, the hanging breaking ball
-
Nice to see Sweeney hurting another team, especially the Tigers. Washburn is not that good, I don't know what got into him the first half of this season.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 01:05 PM) 4-2, Inge HR. Yikes. Yeah, and they hit a couple more foul, they really teed off on him that inning.
-
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 12:48 PM) Rod Allen: "Those two out walks are deadly." really? worse than the lead off walk? What about the one out walk, Rod? I'm right with ya, these announcers are brutal

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 12:30 PM) wow - what a catch by Inge no doubt, memories of Juan Uribe '05

QUOTE (son of a rude @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 12:52 AM) -A player coached by Greg Walker will typically see a drop in every offensive category. I'm not gonna try and argue that Greg Walker's the best in the business, but why rip on him in this thread. Despite Nix's low batting average, he has become a very dangerous hitter. In his previous mlb experience, he was a completely useless hitter in probably the most hitter-friendly park in the mlb. IMO, Jason Nix is one reason to keep Greg Walker around.
-
Time to pick up a half game. Washburn's worthless, Seattle knows this.
-
If Contreras has a decent defense behind him last night, he has a great outing. I will take Contreras as a no. 5 starter any day.
-
I think this has been brought up before, but what's going on with tomorrow's game. No tv????
-
It looked like Alexei could've easily swung at that pitch-out and gotten a catcher's interference call. He was pretty much standing on the plate when he caught that ball.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) 2 games of playing good defensively overpower him sucking in the field for the year. I see how the formula goes. He's been solid all year defensively, and he's been more than good the past 2 games, if Castro catches the ball, the Sox are still up because of Wise's defense.
-
QUOTE (beckham15 @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 07:24 PM) so besides wise's defense in the two games so far dewayne has gone 1-7 nicccce What is all this? Wise is playing spectacularly defensively, isn't that what everyone's been saying is needed from our 4th outfielder?
-
Dewayne Wise never has deserved all the crap he gets for his glove, maybe now it will stop for awhile. Unbelievable!
-
I would think that Bergeson would have to be in the conversation, he's pitching very well.

Do the Twins really own us in their park...? Myth?

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 11:16 PM) Its hard to play baseball when you assume this position before you walk on the field. We are a self fulfilling joke up there. The twins are not a spectacular team, they however are a fundamentally sound team. We go up there for years, kick the ball around, walk people and make mistakes. We put them in a position to win, and they step on our necks everytime. The thing that sickens me, is this cublike attitude from the organization of self pitty, and turning the HHH into the boogeyman's home. We lose games up there more because we play s***ty baseball more than the boogeyman. Its not a curse, its not the dome. Its s***ty baseball against a fundamentally sound team. The fact that everyone from the Manager, to the TV guys bend over and admit defeat is disgusting. Play hard, if they win so beat it. But stop stepping on your own dicks because you are scared of a f***ing cement s***hole. And for the love of god, can we stop pitching to Mauer with men on. His contact rate is through the roof. I don't know what it means to be a self fulfilling joke, but your last sentence couldn't be more contradictory of the rest of your statement. Mauer's a very good hitter, but if you don't go after him. Morneau's gonna hurt you, and if he doesn't. Kubel is the biggest sox killer of them all. If you go up there saying you're gonna pitch around Mauer, you're completely screwed. -

QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:41 AM) Podsednik CF Ramirez SS Dye RF Thome DH Konerko 1B AJ C Nix LF Getz 2B Beckham 3B I love this lineup. Pods will be just fine in CF. GO SOX! -
Here's the bottom line, I'm every bit as confident in Brian Anderson catching a routine fly ball as I am of him striking out in a big run scoring situation.
-
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 09:28 AM) How did Anderson get a rep for being a great defensive player? From what i've seen, he's an above average CF,not great by any means. I mean it's not like he's a young Jones, Griffey, Beltran,or Hunter out there. Maybe it's the fear of seeing Podsednik on a full time basis,or a very old Griffey last year, that has upped people's evaluation of his defense. BA is not going to hurt you but let's not make him a gold glove caliber CF either. If he was that great defensively, and taking runs away all the time,i think Ozzie and the Sox could live with his horrendous hitting. +1
