Another White Sox / Blue Jays trade on the horizon?
Crash73 replied to striker's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jan 8, 2012 -> 06:10 PM) Moses Malone is the 7th all time scorer in NBA history. He's also the 5th leading rebounder in NBA history. He's not the player Karl Malone was, but he's far better than Barkley, English or Robinson. Ummmmmmmmmm...... is this SOXtalk? just asking...... -
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 28, 2011 -> 05:59 PM) Honestly, I don't know if the man has enough of a filter to be a true liar. So fickle that he made himself look like a liar on several occasions? Absolutely. As far as prematurely letting his Miami thing slip, I think that just shows how bad a liar he is. Either way, I have no doubt that he's so self-absorbed that he would make bad decisions out of blind animosity. Scotty, i agree with you except, that if he is so self absorbed, i think he would want to win, in spite of KW. Winning would have proved his genius.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) See Chicago Black Sox/Charles Comiskey. Over a hundred years ago . . .

QUOTE (Tex @ Dec 26, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) The team's fortunes hinged on Dunn's bat. Statistically it was a good bet. I don't think Oz had much of a choice. The annoying part is I believe Oz enjoyed it. C'mon! Very few sports people in HISTORY, have wanted to see his own team fail. Are you telling me Oz wouldn't have been happy with another WS ring?

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 11:38 AM) The funniest thing to me is that the source of this mess - and no, we'll never know some of the things that have gone on - but at least publicly, if you go by what made OG/KW the most vocal and irate in the media...it really does seem to have been the most embarassingly petty stuff. 1) whose KID did or didn't get drafted in what slot 2) who's the one who did or didn't want Thome The only eye-opening thing about the Cooper interview today is this clearer glimpse of just how ridiculously chaotic the organization has been this year. Makes you wonder why a fan would bother expending so much energy on a group that does not have its s*** together. Ozzie- very flawed individual. But to put it all on him is silly when the things you hear about KW inspire something far from confidence going forward. Thank you for the sensibility.
-
It was clearly time for Ozzie to go. However, it is and always will be the players fault that they had a terrible season. With the talent the Sox have, a retarded monkey should've been able to manage them to a Division title. Just go back to Thome, when he was here. He was to much of a chump to lay the ball down the third base line, when the shift was on. The Sox players need to play team ball. If they do, then we'll have a chance.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Aug 17, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) That is so beautiful!!!

This season is a statement on organizational resiliency

Thanks GH for a refreshing point of view. If this teams gets hot at the right time, not even the East teams will want to face our pitching. -
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) wouldn't the deal have to be sweetened to get Brown? I don't see straight up for CQ. Remember, he's the "total package" I admit I don't know much about Brown. SO my question is, would Thornton and Q nab Brown? Or more generally, what would Thornton and Q nab from any other team?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 06:38 AM) Good post. Jenks acting like a whiny little child, but Oney went up another two levels of asshole from there. We're basically watching two spoiled immature brats fight it out on the interwebs. Its sad, and it does NOT reflect well on the White Sox. That. And it has nothing to do with sports.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 03:28 AM) Does anybody doubt for a second that Ozzie would've been fired by now if not for 2005? The point is '05 DID happen. Managers and players who win any championship are given more slack. And rightly so.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) Its a Dem in charge now, it is more like “Carnivore" and "Eschelon" now. OK Mr. Admin, although your comment is funny, I almost got banned from this site for political comments in the wrong area. Please delete this post. -

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 01:32 PM) They would not have given Loiaza the opportunity he got if those three were still around and thus 2003 would have sucked. Then not traded Estaban for Jose the ace of the 2005 playoff run. In that regard the Ritchie trade was a gem. This is starting to sound like an episode of LOST.

Sox Rank #9 by James in "Young Talent Inventory"

I stopped reading after I saw Joe Mauer that Low on the list. How is he not in the top 5? -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 03:45 PM) I was just wondering what you all think. I know spring training is totally meaningless and all that. (But) when a player reaches a certain age or has something major to prove, can you learn anything or project anything from the upcoming plethora of spring training games and at bats? Will we learn anything at all about oldies Jones, Omar, Kotsay in whether they still have "it." Or will their at bats mean nothing? And Teahen. And Rios. Or are all their upcoming at bats meaningless cause it's spring training. Just wondering. I know young guys are sometimes judged on whether they are "ready" by spring training. What about vets? If I had to guess, the at bats are meaningless, but for some reason this was on my mind. Wondering whether scouts, Oz and Ken can tell anything about a batter's likelihood of success from extended spring training appearances. The reason I ask is if they are sure, say a Jones, will suck, why would they bring him North? Most at bats are meaningless period. The pitchers in ST are just working on there stuff. Many of them work on new stuff and are not throwing as they would in a regular season game.

Garfien: Sox made serious play for Halladay
Crash73 replied to IamPabloOzuna's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 22, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) Plain and simply, this is not a good offense. They'll score a few runs, because there's still some power and some good hitters in the lineup, but I think the only slam dunk for a hitter that is going to have a good season is Beckham. Pierzynski and Konerko are both a year older, Quentin, Ramirez, and Teahen were all mediocre last year, Rios is coming off of a horrendous season, Pierre has never been a great hitter to begin with, and I don't think anyone knows what can be expected out of Kotsay and Jones at this point. As of this moment, there's a lot that can go right with this squad, but there's a lot that can go wrong. With the rotation they have, I'd say they can't lose 90 games, and as such, I think the worst they can probably do is 74 wins, and I'd say the absolute best is around 100 wins (and thats with virtually everything going according to plan). I'm expecting anywhere between 84-88 wins with the current roster. I agree with you completely. However, I think, given the current rotation and the knowledge that pitching propelled the Sox to a title, KW will have a itchy trigger finger this year. If the bats don't come around, a move will be made relatively quickly. -

OK. So they went after a big fish. That's good to see. The question now is, what big fishes will be available during the season? Assuming the usual suspects are out of the playoff race, and I defer to y'all in this forum, what players do the Sox have a legit shot at, knowing they were close to signing Halladay? -
QUOTE (WCSox @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) For future reference, stooping to Jon Stewart's level doesn't help your argument. For future reference, please write like that all the time. John Stewart is hilarious and so was your comment. IMO, all this arguing is for naught. KW will see what the offense is doing, during the first month or so. Then he will make a move. Neither JR or KW will want to waste a great rotation.

QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Feb 18, 2010 -> 01:01 PM) This is the same guy who fled Boston, a place where he was treated as a God and then was referred to as Judas, for more money. To suggest he doesn't want the best deal is crazy. Very true, unless he is an egomaniac. Titles with three different teams would make him legendary.

A comparison of the Twins' and White Sox best offensive combinatio
Crash73 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:01 AM) He didnt finish the year as the starter. They acquired rios and never looked back. There is a contingency plan in place at all times with KW. With Colon and Wise last year, it was Peavy and Rios. KW isnt stupid, Im pretty sure he understands what he has and where his deficiencies are, he has his reasons why he isnt acting, we just dont know what they are. ^^ Beautifully written. Also what are the chances Thome gets injured? I liked Thome as a player, but got very sick of him hitting into the shift. He never adjusted.
