QUOTE (johnredman24 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 11:13 AM) It's evident that the White Sox have made a drastic turnaround since last year and there are many speculations why this is happening. Simply put, Ozzie out Robin in. Ventura has been the catalyst to this exploding offense and attitude surround the Sox Clubhouse. But this tends to be a trend when a manager gets ousted and a new one gets thrown in. Can the Sox keep competing like this? Obviously we won't find out if this will continue till we see what happens at the end of the season and how next season will start. Robin Ventura I don't doubt Ozzie being gone having a huge impact on this team's success, however, let's not forget the stranglehold on our offense that was Greg Walker is gone. Team is obviously hitting much better. For instance, Alex Rios, if anybody saw, comcast showed his 2011 batting stance vs. the 2012 and they were drastically different. Dunn obviously much better as well.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) He can send me all the White Sox memorabilia and buy Rangers'. OP said he will watch the game on TV because Darvish is not scheduled to pitch. It is definitely his choice, but how does it not have bearing on his fandom? You call yourself a White Sox fan? Yes I do call my self a White Sox fan. Guaranteed more so than you and it doesn't have to do with whether I sit at the game or watch it religiously at home. It has absolutely no bearing on his fandom. What if Pettie4sox is a Japanese Amercian without a lot of money here in the U.S. He might feel compelled to pay the money even though he doesn't have a lot of it to go watch him pitch against the White Sox. But if he's not pitching, he'll just save his money.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jun 21, 2012 -> 03:20 PM) Only going to Wrigley to see Strasburg is different, since you aren't a fan of either the Cubs or Nats. OP has 116 posts here in a little under a year so I'm assuming he's a Sox fan. I can understand wanting to avoid Floyd or Humber, but at least one of Sale, Peavy, or Quintana pitches every series, and if that plus Dunn, Konerko, and AJ aren't enough to get you to the park and you need a specific player from an opponent, then you really aren't much of a Sox fan. I'm pretty sure it's his choice to pay to see whoever he wants and that has no bearing on his fandom. By your logic you should be attending every home game.

QUOTE (pcullotta @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:06 PM) "Develop" into a career .254 hitter? The only offensive things Crede had going for him were the HR's and RBI's. If Beckham can't provide those, .254 isn't really worth much to me. You're out of your mind with that sort of statement. Crede was continuing to improve offensively as his career progressed, e.g. the silver slugger. Beckham won't come close to putting up the type of season Crede put up offensively in '06.

White Sox have flipped from sellers to buyers

QUOTE (Special K @ May 31, 2012 -> 08:32 PM) [before the season started, White Sox general manager Kenny Williams told manager Robin Ventura not to expect more than a .500 season, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The White Sox expected to trade away veteran players midseason, but the team now sits in first place with a 29-22 record, so Williams plans on adding talent this summer, according to Nightengale. Jake Peavy would have been available if the White Sox weren’t contending, but he’s now “untouchable.” The White Sox could look for more offense at third base, in my opinion. Veteran second baseman Orlando Hudson is now starting at third, but between Hudson and Brent Morel, White Sox third basemen have the lowest OPS in the Major Leagues (.439) at the position.] http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/05/whit...-midseason.html Who do you guys think are viable options to help improve this team make the postseason? We clearly have a need at 3rd. Obviously we know about Youkilis. 2b could also be an option, even though Beckham is showing signs of life lately. Sorry, computer is slow. Saw other forum. Please merge or close this. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2012 -> 12:37 PM) One of the things that has really changed from Ozzie to Robin is that Ventura does not use his bench nearly as much as Ozzie did. I think the bench guys are really suffering for it. The bench players play about as much as they should. Ozzie played the bench way too much. There's a reason we all came to know Ozzie's sunday lineup where the Sox literally rolled over for about 10 losses per year because the bench guys needed to stay fresh. I like that our guys get to get into a groove and play everyday and not sit out every 3 or 4 games.

QUOTE (sunofgold @ May 18, 2012 -> 05:39 PM) Not sure if he has to miss a week. Hopefully he is okay and the tests confirm that he is fine. Right now slight laceration and swelling. If tests are good and swelling goes down, he should be back soon. Samarzjia is typical Cubs garbage...

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 9, 2012 -> 12:08 PM) Morels fielding percentage at 3b last year was .953...Youks at 3b was .967...just sayin Morel should have retired before he ever set foot on a major league field. He may very well be the worst player in baseball. At this point, I'd take Teahen (salary aside) over Morel any day of the week. It's pathetic the sox can't produce a prospect that can hit over .250. And yes, i'm aware that De Aza is hitting .275, but morel, beckham, and viciedo more than confirm that statement.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 9, 2012 -> 10:58 AM) Only a Chicago writer would think that is a fair trade. Yeah, you're right. I'd at least be looking for Pedroia throw-in as well.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 3, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) You're an idiot, his minor league numbers were good overall for such a young player. I wouldn't call 140 hits and 70 plus RBI's in 2009 bad in any way whatsover. Only C.J. Retherford had more hits...in the entire Southern League. Agreed, but is idiot necessary? Let's keep it above the belt.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) Rios is incredibly predictable if you pay attention, he's been an every other year guy for most of his career. It just so happens he's coming off of a down year and he's producing, again. This is the year to unload him if you can because he will SUCK next season. I think this Board's expectations of Rios are just way too high to begin with. The guy has never had an OBP over .354 in his entire career, has never hit over .305 in his career, has never driven in 90 runs in a season. He is what he is, a solid player. He's not going to be a perennial all star, and I think the fact that he gets paid like one makes us think he should be. The fact of the matter is, it was a terrible move for KW to pick him up off waivers. But the odds are overwhelmingly in favor he will have a season much like his career line of .270, .320, and 15-20 bombs. I think last year was just an aberration for the worst, unfortunately.

Resign Pierre and start him at lead off and in left field.

k0na breaks story on Danks 5 years/$65mil ext...Heyman confirms
Special K replied to DirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 21, 2011 -> 04:38 PM) If Danks does sign an extension sometime soon and the terms are close to 5/$65M then Doug Seyller deserves are undying respect because no writer whether national or otherwise has even hinted that the Sox and Danks are even talking and yet some f***ing Art Designer with 182 followers on twitter already has a dollar amount out there. This would be at least his 3rd big get. Not gonna lie guys, I heard this same thing last night in a text from a friend. He guaranteed it, and it was a 5 year 65 million dollar deal. I woke up this morning extremely excited and went to research it and didn't see a thing anywhere in the news and figured my friend was just messing with me. I looked all over the web. Now this just popped up and I'm starting to believe it. -
Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil
Special K replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) So the compensation is still the same, right? I don't have the new CBA rules all down yet. Ozzy had to be a factor... They are good friends. -
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 03:29 PM) We don't "desperately need a third basemen". Anyway, I think if anything, I would move Alexei back to 2B, and have Beckham and Morel fight for 3B. Someone needs to push Gordon, and at this point I'm not so sure that Morel wouldn't have a better 2012 than Beckham anyway. But regardless, this is not happening. JCM2, do you think Morel is the 3rd base of the future?
-
Marlins are now shopping Hanley Ramirez... and looking to add a lefty starter. If they get Pujols they won't have money to sign Buehrle or C.J. Wilson. We could offer Danks and Morel, and whoever else they might want. Sox desperately need a third baseman. Obviously Hanley doesn't want to play there, but maybe Alexei would. If I were Kenny I would look for a Danks trade to the Marlins. If we hadn't move Santos either and they hadn't just signed Heath Bell, that would have been a solid addition to the trade. Obviously this is a Dark Horse people...

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 30, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) These sorts of posts amuse me. There is no "this" yet, so how can you possibly say what it is? Maybe it SHOULD be one, but I love how everyone is already deciding that the future is so predictable. Especially with Kenny in charge. True dat

QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) I'm happy about the sweep, but there's no reason to get excited about being 3 under .500 after 113 games, with a losing record at home and the division. Get over .500 and under 5 games out, and we'll talk... Couldn't agree more

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Aug 5, 2011 -> 10:37 AM) From Elias: Yankees pitchers did not walk a batter in the series against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The Yankees are only the third team in modern major-league history (i.e., since 1900) to issue no walks while sweeping a four-game series. The Red Sox turned that trick in both previous instances: against the White Sox in 1968 (August 5-8), and versus Washington in 1905 (June 29-July 3). This is what needs to change with the White Sox. The White Sox have faced the least amount of pitches in baseball. The scouting reports that the ozeroo pays no attention too will tell the opposition what they need to do. Throw high fastballs and off speed pitches off the corner and they will swing away. This team does not take good strikes nor do they foul a tough pitch off. You can take a slider on the black at the knees for strike one or two. That stat is disgusting. Walker likes a "free-swinging" team, can you blame 'em?

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 29, 2011 -> 09:19 AM) So apparently that Brown/Singleton/Cosart proposal was BS Even if we got Brown I wouldn't love the deal. We're trading away a our second best hitter in the middle of a division race to obtain a prospect with big upside, but hasn't done anything yet. Some in Philly want Brown traded because they are not sure if he can do it at the major league level, which I guess remains to be seen.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 07:05 PM) Your only hope would be Gamel. The Brewers farm system is more empty than the Sox. I'm sorry but I guess I'm missing something, don't the brewers already have 3 better outfielders than rios unless one of them is hurt? Rios isn't having a quarter of the season that Morgan is.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) Neither one of those were guys other teams actually wanted. However the scenario you want to put it, whether it's a guy in a year before he hits FA, or a player a team wants, I don't have a lot of faith in KWs judgement right now. His track record is not as good as it used to be. If we get something solid in return and marginally miss Q's bat for the next year and a half, then that's fine, but I think dealing Q we're heading away from the direction of competing for a division, which is the whole point.
