  1. Dude you're all over it today arent you?
  2. The White Sox signed third baseman Dallas McPherson, tweets Baseball America's Matt Eddy. The 30-year-old hit .267/.339/.541 with 22 home runs in 354 plate appearances for Oakland's Triple-A affiliate this year. He hasn't spent significant time in the bigs since '06.
  3. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 17, 2010 -> 01:19 PM) Gavin is gone and has been for a while. He's way to inconsistent and aloof. Gavin, Santos, Escobar + (low level prospect) to ARZ for Justin Upton or St Louis for Rasmus. Would you rather have Rasmus or Granderson? Wait... Rasmus is a lot cheaper, isn't he?
  4. That's what it looks like... Holy s*** the Hot Stove is heating up early this year!
  5. Man... Granderson is intriguing. If he could get anywhere close to his 2007 numbers while playing great defense... WOW. But at the same time I'd hate to give up Edwin Jackson - ESPECIALLY to the Yanks.
  6. To me, Jake Peavy is not coming back next year. He's done. That way, if he really is done, then I won't be surprised. But if he isn't and is able to contribute ANYTHING, it'll be a bonus.
  7. Tigers Reach Agreement With Joaquin Benoit Getting Linebrink money... Let's hope he performs about as well as Linebrink for the Tigers.
  8. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) The Marlins ownership continues their reign of terror with another disastorous return from a salary dump. Just what the hell was the thought process here? Eh... but can a Marlins fan really complain? I mean the Marlins have been in existence for less than 20 years and already have 2 World Series Championships.
  9. Braves Acquire Dan Uggla Could have been a good dh...
  10. Man this DH situation is making me feel like I did with the missing CF/leadoff batter situation we had before the Rios/Pierre acquisitions. I guess I'd be okay with Manny if we somehow stumbled upon a stud left handed bat who is good in the outfield.
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 16, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) This has now been covered in three threads. Where? I haven't seen it yet but I'd be interested to see the responses...
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 15, 2010 -> 12:02 PM) That's the first thing that went through my head. The second thing was that the 29-year-old Brad Lidge just happens to be the 2005 Brad Lidge, and that scared the crap out of me. HAHAHAHA!!! McCarver: "I don't think that taste (from the Pujols homerun in the NLCS) is there... Lidge delivers the pitch... Podsednik: BAM!!!! Game over. Good night. Drive home safely
  13. Good God why couldn't somebody in the Sox organization teach this guy how to swing a bat? Think of our defense with BA in center and Rios in right...
  14. I could see the Rays picking him up. I bet he does good.
  15. Didn't Troy Tulowitzki have an absolutely horrible sophmore season? Maybe Beckham will bounce back with a vengeance. I'd STILL use him in trade him for A. Gonzalez though - IF the Sox could extend him.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 02:01 PM) Beckham overall put up an .808 OPS on the season in his first year at 2b and as a 23 year old. From the end of June on, once he snapped out of that early funk, he hit .310 with an .885 OPS. I'm pretty sure 95% of Sox fans want no part of dealing Beckham right now either. Well if the Sox could sign A. Gonzalez to an extension, I'd drive Beckham to San Diego.
  17. If KW held Beckham back in talks for A. Gonzalez and R. Halladay, he better absolutely PILLAGE an organization in a trade involving him.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 10:20 AM) He's had some very good years, some ok years, and some iffy years, depending on how healthy he is and where he gets moved around to. In general, if you buy Fangraphs, if you put him at a position and keep him there the whole year, he'll be somewhat above average. That includes CF, although the last time he spent a lot of time in CF was a couple years ago. I had kind of forgotten about De Jesus after he broke his thumb last year. If he's good defensively, he would have looked very good in the Sox outfield next year though. He doesn't have a lot of power, but I like his avg. I wonder if KW tried to make a play for him. KW is probably working behind the scenes trying to acquire Matt Kemp now.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 06:04 PM) Excellent move for the A's. An already stellar defense gets better. Just don't be like the Mariners and forget scoring runs is a part of winning baseball games. How good is DeJesus in the field? Last year I thought I read somewhere that he wasn't that good defensively.
  20. Edwin Freaking Jackson. Daniel Hudson = Brandon McCarthy
  21. What a sad situation. Some people just can't live within their means. I wonder how much his salary was. Probably much more than most of ours....
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 03:52 PM) I'm glad I'm not the only one. I hate opening up a thread only to see: Well, I think this team is looking for some pitching, so we can send them ____ for ____ and stick him in RF. Then, we would free up money to make a play for a big name at 1B. Sign ____ off of the screap heap for middle relief, etc. I just don't care to see so many hypotheticals that have no basis in actual news. You're not referring to my trade Floyd/Danks to another team for top of the line prospects, then add Viciedo to that bunch to flip to the Indians for Shin Soo Choo idea, are you? Ha ha I kill me.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 9, 2010 -> 06:09 PM) I for one am glad that Kotsay did not mention Kotsay by name when he brought up left handed bats. This made me lol at work
  24. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) Mods, feel free to merge this thread with another, but I couldn't decide where to put it. Anyway, the MLBTR writers predicted where the top 50 free agents will go. Not surprisingly the Yankees and Angels are mentioned numerous times for the top few. The Sox are mentioned only twice. Three of the five writers predict Konerko and Damon. I suppose I'd be okay with that, but it doesn't plug every hole. I'd love to see KW make a splash and grab Crawford or Dunn or one of top 5. I read that too and the Sox aren't getting any love. I'm not even going to get my hopes up for a big splash like Crawford, Werth, Dunn, etc. because I'll just be pissed when I see them sign with other teams. The Derrek Lee thing from another thread really has me intrigued though. I wouldn't mind picking him up IF Paulie decides to leave. He might be in line for an incredible bounce back season. My main concern though is right field. I really like Carlos Quentin, but I'm starting to wonder if he'll ever be anything close to the 2008 TCQ again.
