  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 01:20 PM) Aren't they pretty much that with a well rested Roy, Oswalt, and Hamels? Oswalt, Mr "I won't accept a trade to the White Sox", is a p****. I love how the Sox punked him out and put 5 on his punk ass in the 5th inning of game 3 of the 2005 World Series. That was great.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) The thing is, there would be just as much complaining if we had held on to Hudson and Hudson pitched like he had the first few starts of the season. EXACTLY!!! Especially if he would have pitched in one of those "need to sweep twins" home games that the Sox lost. People would have been calling for KWs head.
  3. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 09:51 PM) Jackson = better now Kenny = wants to be better now Ozzie = wants to be better now Uncle Jerry = wants to be better now The majority of fans = also want to be better now 6 years = next year and then we'll think about that when the time comes $8M vs. $450K = the difference between a veteran with #1 stuff and a guy other GMs didn't have a world of confidence in longterm This post is spot on. Most of us seem to forget that we were right in the middle of a race with the twins for the AL Central crown and a trip to the playoffs when Jackson was acquired. I for one, felt a lot better with a proven veteran like Jackson going in a big game than I would have felt about an unproven youngster that could have poo pooed on the mound in that big game. Plus Coop has probably forgotten more about pitching than any of us could ever know, and HE wanted Jackson. In Coop I trust.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 09:00 AM) A move for a guy like that depends entirely on what salary flexibity KW has. If he has room to increase significantly from last year, which frankly is possible (there's been a substantial cutback compared with a couple years ago already), then it's do-able if you assume that the player you get is marketable and will help put butts back in the seats. If he's under orders to cutback on spending...he won't land a guy like that and have him walk after 1 year. But who would it take to get SD to deal A Gonzalez to the Sox? Would a starting pitcher and Viciedo do it? I hear that they are looking for a lead off guy or a high OBP guy. I heard someone say that they were killed this year because A Gonzalez didn't have enough people on base in front of him.
  5. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 09:21 AM) Out of all of the reasons to not root for a baseball team, this is a pretty fascinating one. Apparently, there are some things that 16 years and multiple ownership and personnel changes can’t wash away. What can I say... I hold grudges. Plus I'm not the biggest nolan ryan fan either and I'd hate to see the both of them sitting there celebrating a trip to the world series. Go Yankees.
  6. In don't like the Yanks either, but I just can't bring myself to root for the Texas Rangers. That team still has the stench of george w. bush all over it.
  7. QUOTE (Whitewashed in '05 @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 10:19 PM) Cliff Lee's a stud. That guy is money in the playoffs! Again... Jake Peavy take note: THIS IS WHY KW TRADED FOR YOU. Get well soon and become that ace that we all want you to be.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 10:13 PM) Pretty cool that Rangers are celebrating with Ginger Ale so that Hamilton can go into the clubhouse. I was just about to post the exact same thing. Pretty cool indeed.
  9. QUOTE (Elgin Slim @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) Look what the lockout did for the NHL. I think the league is arguably more popular now than it was in 2004. I, as a fan, would be willing to go through 1.5 seasons without baseball so that the game is better in the long run. The Yankee/Red Sox dominance of the AL has to stop. I think it is complete bulls*** that you can buy championships in MLB. I hate to say that, but it's true. It would be one thing if the Yankees/Red Sox had this huge economic advantage, but only had a $130 MM payroll. But the two of them combined probably have a payroll approaching $400 MM, which is probably as much as 5-6 smaller market teams in the AL. The current system gives AL teams a slim chance to win anything. There is a reason why Yankees/Red Sox is so huge media wise, and that is because it seems that they have a chance to win a World Series every year. The Yankees make the playoffs basically annually(15 out of the last 16 years) Under the current system you might as well make it like Euro soccer, where there is the Big Boy league, and the other guys league. This post is spot on. I think it's time for a salary cap as well - even though the Sox are one of the medium to big spenders. Just think... if the Sox went out and got Dunn, Werth, Crawford, and Lee and increased the payroll to 200M, they'd sell out every game too. And the tv ratings would be through the roof. I couldn't imagine being a Pirates or a Royals fan. Small market teams shouldn't be at such a disadvantage.
  10. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 12, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) I'm more or less already tired of people throwing out trade ideas and players that absolutely no team in their right mind would give up. Asking if Shin Soo Choo or Mike Stanton is available is like asking the Cardinals if Albert Pujols is available. Dude... it's October and the Sox are sitting at home. A man can dream, can't he?
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 11, 2010 -> 09:37 PM) Clear your motherf***in' schedules, folks. Lincecum vs Halladay this Saturday. Where's my baby oil? DOC vs. THE FREAK!!! Muthafu**as gonna be gettin struck the f*** out left and right... I love playoff baseball.
  12. Here's a few... LOL Holy s***... 6 mil a year?? ..............................
  13. I just hope the f***ers don't have to worry about doing it again next year because the Sox will be champs of the AL Central. But you know what? I wouldn't mind if they got the wild card, then got CRUSHED by the White Sox on the way to the World Series. That would make me very very happy.
  14. QUOTE (GLOAD is GOD @ Oct 9, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) I think the Kemp idea is a good one....but I like the Adam Lind idea even more. He'd be great to buy low on if we can, (obviously he'd come at a steep price, but we'd be buying low considering his 09 campaign) If you get Kemp from LA and Lind: Does anyone know what happened to Lind this past season? I mean, how did he drop so much so fast? I'd be scared to give up a lot for him. His suckitude might linger around for more than one season.
  15. This actually from a yankee fan on one of the twins forums: Minnesota BOBs? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
  16. I'm surprised that they haven't mentioned soxtalk. I've seen them mention WSI a few times during their b****ing and moaning... But anyway... we could make this an absolutely HILARIOUS thread with quotes from them.
  17. QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Oct 9, 2010 -> 09:06 PM) They have an interesting decision to make: do they resign Thome? I think their focus has to be on starting pitching. Dunseng or Dung sing or however the hell you say it as their number 3 has to worry them a bit. Plus Mr. Porn 'stache man can't be counted on to have another year like he's had. I hope the f***ers stand pat. They're looking VERY beatable right about now
  18. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Oct 9, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) sums up the series: LOLZ I heard that the twins posted this in their locker room before the series started. Looks like it did a lot of good BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
  19. On the twins fan forum, they are wondering why gardy won't tell his pitchers to throw some brush back pitches. Sound familiar?
  20. Haha even the great Joe Mauer is sucking tonight.
  21. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I'm loving this. The twins are crapping the bed in a major way. I've never seen that look on Gardy's face before.
  22. LET'S GO YANKEES!!! PUT THESE f***S OUT OF THEIR MISERY!!!!!
