8/27 Gamethread - Good Guys v. Evil Empire
chetkincaid replied to clyons's topic in 2010 Season in Review
With the twins playing Seattle (ugh) the Sox gotta man up to keep this thing close. Winning 2 out of 3 would do the trick. BRING ON MANRAM!!! We need that bat this weekend. -
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:59 PM) That was going out on a limb. I've got Pujols as my pick to click for the Cardinals tomorrow. Haha don't hate my Miss Cleo skills. CALL MEH NOW!!!

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) Hopefully bagging groceries at Trader Joe's. Or at home fondling his hot wife. If I sucked at baseball as bad as Kotsay did I know that's where I'd be.

White Sox vs. Orioles, 7:10pm, WCIU

Rios is my pick to click.. -
It's against the yanks. I almost refuse to pay more money just to see the yanks play. They're nothing special to me and the only time I don't hate them is when they play a team I hate even more, like the twins and the boston red cubs.

I'll take Scott Downs please. Thank you.

Just got outta class. What's up with Santos? -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:38 PM) Before his stop on the DL , Manny's 186 ABs produced 39 RBI, 8HR and .317. That works out to around 2 Kotsays. Just saying. whitesoxski from twitter. I hope this goes through. If it does, I wonder how long it'll be before he can actually suit up? I'm excited. I'll be at the first game if it's at the Cell.

QUOTE (buckweaver @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) It'll go well with the Hulk Hogan WWF belt you have on. Maybe you should learn how to quote properly.

QUOTE (buckweaver @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) Or perhaps..."Watch Manny inject some life into the White Sox!" We become the Yankees when we sign a known cheater because it may help us win. As a 46-year-old lifelong Sox fan who grew up listening to my grandfather's stories of Babe Ruth playing at the old palace, I implore Kenny Williams not to bring Manny Ramirez to the White Sox. As I posted in another thread a week or two ago (and that's saying something because I don't post very much), I consider Manny as the poster child for all of major league baseball's ills: greed, steroids, lazy, selfish. No debate there's blame for the steroid era abounding, but when you're injecting a needle into your ass or having someone else do it for you, it's wrong and you know it. So the blame starts with the players who did it. I honestly would rather miss the playoffs without Manny than be in them with him. If the White Sox bring him in I'm not sure I can call myself a fan of this team...and just typing that makes me feel as though I'm losing an appendage. If he can help the Sox catch the twins, I'll buy a Manny jersey! He'll probably boost attendance too, which will increase revenue. Plus he'll increase the national exposure of the Sox. We know how the national media loves covering the guy. GET IT DONE KW!!! Imagine of he hits a bomb in his first ab... Yes.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:57 AM) Manny Ramirez cemented his legacy in 2009 when he got caught. I don't give a rat's ass what he got caught doing. Like there's been a world series winning team in the last 20 years that didn't have at least one guy that has used PEDs before. If he can help the Sox catch the twins, then bring him on!

Two mods going at it? FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!

Texas is reminding me of the 2005 White Sox. Gavin, go out and have yourself a complete game shut out and give the bull pen even more rest. Just win tonight baby. Just win. -
I think if the Sox can some way some how SWEEP the twins when they get here that things would be VERY interesting going down the stretch.

Why Do the Sox Suck Vs. Central Division Teams?
chetkincaid replied to greg775's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 07:19 AM) This is the reason why right here: Sox are 7-4 vs. DET, but Cabrera, Damon & Coke have all won World Series, so they don't want it as much any more Sox are 8-7 vs. KC, but they had Podsednik for a while and his WS ring makes them care a little less Sox are 4-8 vs. CLE, and no one their roster has ever won a WS so they obviously just try harder than the Sox do Sox are 5-10 vs. MIN, Carl Pavano has won a ring, but he's only one starting pitcher, so the other players still want it more than the Sox Lets also disregard these facts: - Only 6 players on the Sox 25-man roster (24%) have even won a World Series - The Sox had a winning record vs. the Central every season from 2002-2008 (best division record in 2008) - They played their 12 games vs. CLE all before they started their winning streak, back when they were losing to everyone Hahaha good post! I loled.. -
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) And I hope he's right. I'm not sure the Sox can get back on top, but having a bat better than Kotsay's right now would be sweet. That's what I'm saying. I said I hope he is wrong about Mark Kotsay being the DH.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 23, 2010 -> 07:49 AM) The Sox could have had either of them already, and unless Manram gives you a 1.200 OPS the rest of the way, having the other guy in the lineup for the extra 2 weeks would have made even more of a difference. We're not adding a bat. Mark Kotsay is our DH. End of discussion. Eh... I hope you're wrong. Apparently Steve Stone is saying that something big might happen this week.
-
I wonder if LaRoche or Damon is KWs backup plan if the Manny thing doesn't pan out? If the Sox fall 7 games out, I don't think the Sox will be adding anything.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 22, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) I've felt worse. I don't feel that bad about this one. It seems like the Sox can't buy a run. And Jenks coming out for another inning? Oh wait, Edwin Jackson is in the bullpen.
-
Does anyone else have a sinking feeling about the end of this game?
-
I agree. Losing that 1st game was bad. If we come up 2 or 3 games short, this will definitely be one of the games that'll be remembered.
