  1. The guy needs to retire a Chicago White Sox. He shouldn't go anywhere. This is why I wasn't all that upset that Adam Dunn didn't come here. I mean, I was stoked with the thought of Dunn coming here and being extended for the next few years, but not at the expense of Konerko. That is why I hated it when people would say that if Dunn is brought on and extended, then Paulie would be out the door next year.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) I don't recall exactly when it was, but I do recall that the Sox were well out of the playoff picture when he turned the trade down. I'm pretty sure it was late in 2004 after the wheels had fallen completely off the bus. Well it's not like he has 30 MLB teams vying for his services this time around. I bet he'd be ecstatic if the Sox offered him a minor league deal right now.
  3. Lol coming from commercial break and the ball is rocketing toward the outfield...
  4. You can look at Torres and tell he's nervous. Calm the f*** down and throw strikes!
  5. I wonder if there's anything left? He's a lefty power bat that could be had for almost nothing.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) It's worth noting...Manny would be an FA at the end of this season again...so if he wanted one more payday, those 1.5 months might do it. ...especially if he comes over and mashes and helps the White Sox win the World Series.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:38 PM) Unless an NL team puts a fork into his plans. What NL team would want Manny?
  8. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) Yep Manny only wants to come to the White Sox and if he falls through NL waivers- the Sox can pretty much claim him for nothing. I wonder if the Twins would have the balls to block.
  9. Listening to Boers and Bernstein on the Score, it really looks like Manny Ramirez is a big possibility. It seems like Kenny is just sitting back waiting to pounce.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) I want to hit Rizzo. He's not going to get anything close to offers he got before the deadline. I know it'll never happen, but wouldn't it be sweet if Washington ended up putting Dunn on waivers and losing him for nothing because of some administrative error like not pulling him back in time or something like that?
  11. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) Good win. Let's hope we saved some runs for the 2nd game. Played both small ball and long ball. And a Juan Pierre homer! Didn't think we would see one of those. Whut?? Stop f***ing around... there's no need to get carried away.
  12. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) What the heck do they players do on a split DH? They will have like 3:30 hours between the 2 games. XBox/PS3 tournament? I know what Carlos does. He practices his swing, because he works on his swing everywhere. Everywhere. Everywhere. En todas.
  13. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 02:17 PM) So Buehrle finishes w/ 7 2/3 IP, 3 ER. Not bad. Huh? Oh wait... Linebrink is coming in with 2 on. Gotcha.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) Ok Leyland, time for you to take that pitcher out. Yeah bring in the next one so we can burn through their entire bullpen.
  15. I just got out of a meeting at work. About 40 mins ago, everyone in the conference room started floating, like the hotel scene in Inception. What the hell is going on?
  16. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 07:41 PM) Do fans at Wrigley do the wave? The crowds at the Cell have been downright embarrassing. It's like when the stadium gets more than 30,000 fans, they don't know how to handle it, they get all giddy and start the wave.. Then there's the fights in the UD.. But what's bugging me the most is how lame the crowds have been. The fans are so f***ing lethargic. It looks like half the crowd are zombies. Whenever I happen to catch a Cubs game on tv, I notice how those fans are alive. Whenever there's a big pitch, the entire crowd rises to their feet in unison.. within 2 seconds. I've never seen that at the Cell. It takes 45 seconds for half the crowd to stand up. I know we rip on Cubs fans for acting like every game is a World Series game, but that's better than looking like a casual family softball game. I just wish every game was like that blackout game. The White Sox deserve more crowds like that! Dude..DO NOT compare us to Cub fans. Please.
  17. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:57 AM) I wish they were more aggressive in sending bad hitters down. Like who? Do you have someone in mind? I thought that Sale had bad mechanics or mechanics that would eventually cause an injury? Doesn't he need to work on this before he blows something out?
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) It auto re-sizes on its own. Patience my friend. Lol I know I'm just giving you a hard time I really hope that Jackson can go out and have an excellent start tomorrow against the Tigers and make the critics quiet down. Tipping his pitches is huge and it'll make a big difference.
  19. Chw42... your pic is too small. I can barely see it..
  20. QUOTE (Hawk09 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 08:43 AM) Clearly, EJax's eyes lite up when he faces AL teams not named the Sox. He has gone 28-13 vs those teams the last three years. Hopefully, that gives him confidence going into Wed vs the Tigers, who he has done well against. If he can come thru, the Sox rotation can recover from a crushing blow losing Peavy. I was spying on a Twins fan forum and someone there mentioned that the Twins usually light up Jackson, so they were glad that the Sox traded for him. Jackson and Coop will have to straighten them out right away.
  21. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 2, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Somebody over at another forum brought up the idea of Jason Bay for Jake Peavy. Both make a similar amount of money over the next couple of years, Bay has an extra year of obligation. Depending on how Jackson progresses, I wouldn't be all that against such a swap. I'd bet the farm that Jake Peavy would veto a trade to go play in New York for the Mets.
  22. If push came to shove I guess I would be okay with Hideki Matsui for the playoffs. He could heat up and repeat his World Series performance from last year.
