QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 29, 2010 -> 10:29 PM) Garcia in the MVP of this team. I think I heard the best call in the history of the post-game. The caller wanted to deal Hudson and Flowers/Viciedo for Dunn...the thinking is that each player is like a cracker (Saltine) and that when you break them in half...you can put butter, ranch sauce, guacamole, BBQ, on each and combine them for a taste explosion, I THINK... So, in the end, if you combine Rios, Quentin, Paulie and Dunn, it would create the dreaded "QUADRUPLE VORTEX" EFFECT and the White Sox would never lose a home game again...Inception would be made explainable...droughts would end end, worldwide environmental damage would be reversed, basically, Adam Dunn is the last BAT-BENDER, or something like that. It just made me laugh, the caller inquired, "Haven't you ever done anything like that?", to Rongey, and he responded with a really irritated/deadpan/sarcastic, "No." Heard that call. It was awkward to say the least. I was like WTF??

SIX games ahead of Detroit... they should blow it up and let us get Miggy Cabrera

And Twins fans just let out a collective f***!!!!

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) Why would the Red Sox trade Ortiz in the first place? Wow. Now that is what you call a sleeper right there. I would love to have had 2004-2007 Big Papi, but I'd be afraid that we'd end up with the 2009 version. Plus he wants a multi year deal next year.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) Jenks would make more sense Hopefully you would be able to get SOMETHING for Jenks though. I wouldn't just give him away. I think the guy would thrive in the NL. Get a couple prospects for Jenks from the Phillies, and use them to fortify a package for Fielder, Dunn, Edwin Jackson, etc.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 07:22 AM) WAS is going to wait until near the deadline... offer Dunn a cheap extension... Dunn will likely turn that down... and WAS will trade Dunn to whomever has made the best offer so far. I still think he's going to re sign with the Nats. He seems comfortable with them.

QUOTE (clown baby @ Jul 28, 2010 -> 02:32 AM) Thome has a .933 OPS, and is the exact lefty power bat that we are missing... Hating the Thome shift is a pretty dumb reason to not want him. Ozzie really screwed up picking Kotsay over Thome. It's going to cost us some good prospects now if we want to get somebody of equal production to Thome. That move is really not talked about enough. It could end up costing us Hudson and another good prospect. Ozzie screwed up. Plain and simple. Why talk about it more? What more is there to discuss? It's over and done with. He is a Minnesota Twin now.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:46 AM) If you think that's good watch this. Ichiro with Bob Costas. LOL "Hotter than 2 rats in a f***ing wool sock"... See? We NEED this guy! EEE-CHEE-RO!!
-
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 10:02 AM) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW384YzzHKM That is why we need Ichiro. But seriously, it'd take something like Hudson-Flowers-3 Other Good Prospects (not Viciedo since they have Smoak). Perhaps Jeremy Reed? I'd pack their s*** for them and drive the U-haul out to Seattle.
-
Maybe it's not such a stretch that the Cubs would be picking up a substantial portion of his salary.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) in 2001 That is a LOOONG time ago. You know the guy wants to compete at least once more before his career ends. I've always been a Ichiro fan and I'm not saying that it's even possible that the Sox get him, but I wonder how much he's considered asking for a trade somewhere else so he'll have a chance to win a ring before he retires?
-
This alone makes it worth it. Get it done, KW!

QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) Yeah they do but they know that will be wearing thinner and thinner in the seasons to come and they know that. He is 36 and you would have to project a decline. Why not get yourself some good young talent like Viciedo and Hudson and start building towards your future when your team is in such turmoil? Plus you know the guy would love to play for a contender. Has he ever even been in the playoffs?
-
QUOTE (ICP! @ Jul 27, 2010 -> 07:51 AM) Who are the guys out there that are sleepers in this trade market? I somehow feel KW is gonna go and get a guy that most of us just dont have on the radar? Is there still a possibility to bring Ichiro? I am pretty sure that train has passed but IDK. HAHAHA I've been thinking about this! If Seattle would give him up, then why not? I was at the game last night, and that catch was SICK. That throw back to first base that almost doubled up Quentin was sick too.

Bump. Now that Peavy is gone, maybe this isn't such a bad idea.

QUOTE (PlunketChris @ Jul 19, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) I haven't heard or seen anything on this, but The Phillies might be one of few teams looking to solidify their closer role or atleast secure a back up plan. Lidge can't be depended on and when it wasn't Lidge, they were parading Jose Contreras out there. Putz or Jenks might be an appealing piece to them if they're made available. I think Bobby Jenks would be a great addition to the Phils.
-
I wish we could flip Jenks for some pitching prospects to send to Arizona to facilitate the 3 team trade and land us Dunn. Let Putz be the closer and bring up Sale and/or Torres. If we win it all this year with Putz closing, he'll be more likely to re sign here in the off season.

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 26, 2010 -> 09:17 AM) Stone saying that makes me nervous......this isn't the year to go all in. If it's not Dunn or Fielder, I don't think you have anything to worry about. I bet Dunn signs a contract extension with the Nats this week. And Fielder is too expensive. I don't think KW is going to give the Brewers what they want for him.

Haren- Angels (Who the hell saw that coming?) Oswalt- Cardinals Lilly- Twins Greinke- Yankees in a deal for Joba, Montero, others. If they deal Greinke to the hated Yanks, Royals fans will burn Kaufmann Stadium down Laroche Bullpen arm or bench player - White Sox Aramis Ramirez - Tigers Derrick Lee - Rangers Fixed

Meh... It's just one of those days. We can't will every game. A loss like this doesn't bother me half as much as the 2 games Jenks blew last week. -
