  1. QUOTE (WHITESOXRANDY @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 01:30 PM) From reading what most Sox fans have been saying all winter I would guess that they wanted either Thome or Vlad to be the pinch runner. I vote for Paulie. This line up needs an infusion of slow...
  2. I'm glad Pods is in the AL Central. We can put his numbers up against Pierre's numbers to see of KW made the right move or not. I got a feeling that Pierre will be much better.
  3. Royals = White Sox South or Southern White Sox
  4. QUOTE (1977 sox fan @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 06:23 AM) A great rotation ? That is a bit much i mean what have they accomplished to be consider a Great rotation ? I notice a lot of people here putting all the hopes of this team into the 4 or 5 starting pitchers . Well i hope you are all right because if these 4 or 5 guys don't pitch great we will be seeing another sub 500 year . for me trading one of them of Danks or Floyd in a package to get AGON i would do in a heart beat especially Danks 1 13 win season is not greatness . I agree. People are putting a LOT of faith in the starting rotation, but we still have to score runs.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) Why would be break up the strong 1-4 without a proper replacement? To sign a young, much sought after all star gold glove lefty that could hit 40+ bombs and would be under the Sox control for the next couple of years... That's why I would probably do it. Okay maybe I wouldn't give up Huddy though. But the Danks brothers and maybe Retherford or someone like that? Yeah I'd do it.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 02:40 PM) ^^^^^^^ If he'd take 4 mil, I'd put him in RF tomorrow and DH Q. Why? What's so special about Rick Ankiel?
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 11:02 AM) wow. I know... I'm bored
  8. How about Kenny signs Arnoldis Chapman for 5yrs/25mil, then sends both the Danks brothers and (if necessary), Flowers or Hudson to the Padres for Adrian Gonzalez? Thoughts???
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 02:03 PM) He spit in an umpire's face. I don't agree with it, but his appearance to the media is the reason. Heard on the radio that spitting in an umps face is in fact the very reason that he didn't make it on the first ballot. Eh... I don't know if he actually did it on purpose though. Oh well... he'll get in next year won't he?
  10. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 12:52 PM) Snatch Hands down one of the funniest movies ever. So was Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. So was RocknRolla...
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) St. Louis would be crazy to let it get to that point. Either they need to trade him first or they need to sign him before it gets to that point. I'm not saying that there's a GOOD chance that it happens - I'm saying that there is a chance that it happens and I'm starting to think that, by rules, there should be NO CHANCE that the yanks be able to pull that off.
  12. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:47 AM) I doubt Pujols will become a free agent next year. What if the yanks throw ARod money at him and St. Louis can't match it?
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 09:34 AM) You do realize the Sox are probably amongst the teams that benefit from not having a salary cap, right? Yeah but is it enough? Now there's an ESPN article out there that is speculating that the yanks might be able to pay enough to convince ALBERT PUJOLS to outbid the cards when his contract is up. What the hell? When does it stop? I'd just as soon level the playing field for everyone.
  14. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jan 3, 2010 -> 09:12 AM) I'm definitely on the Jack Cust for DH train. Yeah his average is going to be low but he'll walk 100 times (or thereabouts) with great power. I think he'd be a near perfect fit for us. Cust struck out 197 times in 08 and 185 times in 09. Strike outs are rally killers. No thank you.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2010 -> 08:14 AM) That's way more money than this team has available to spend on a player like Beltre. For this year at least, that's probably more than he's worth to us as well. I'm really starting to think that baseball needs a salary cap...
  16. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 11:03 PM) I wish we could have gotten Beltre to agree to a one year deal like this. This team would have been complete. I wonder if KW even tried? Knowing him though I bet he did.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) I don't think you can emphasize enough the run Frank had in the 90's. Its too bad money issues forced him to play longer than he should have. LOL I remember one time back in the 90s on the radio (ESPN 1000 or The Score) when some Cub fan was arguing how Sammy Sosa was a MUCH better hitter than Big Frank... The host looked up and started throwing around stats.... TOTALLY undressed the Cub fan and made him sound like a complete arse for about 20 minutes without hanging up on him. The host wasn't being a total jagbag like bernstein about it either... he was just quoting stats. I actually felt sorry for the Cub fan. Now that I think about it... the host was Mike Murphy on the old Murph and Fred show on the Score...
  18. QUOTE (dadwassoxfan @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) Gavin has lived in the same building I do the last few season. I have seen his wife and all I can say is GOOD MOVE Gavin. She is smokin!!!!!!!!!! How could you be in the MLB and NOT have a smokin hot chick?
  19. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 01:45 PM) We're not paying for him and our payroll would still under 120mil. Yeah but Scott Boras is his agent isn't he? With the exception of Andruw Jones, the Sox won't deal with Boras, right?
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) I know there's a lot of other options out there for DH's and not many spots, but I just don't get the feeling that Vlad will "Settle for a one year incentive laden deal". Someone out there has to be willing to offer him a decent dollar amount, wouldn't they? I thought the same thing about Bobby Abreu last off season, and what did he end up signing for?
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 10:57 AM) Vlad to the Sox gives me a "hell, we COULD win this thing" vibe. I wonder if he'll settle for a one year incentive laden deal with the Sox? Maybe then he'll be out to prove something and he'll crush everything that comes his way... That would be awesome.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 10:04 AM) Interesting how Dye hasn't really gotten any offers. Isn't he still insisting that he plays in the field? I thought that he finally bent a little bit and said that he might be willing to play first base a few weeks ago. I like JD. I hope he finds a job as a starter somewhere.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 29, 2009 -> 03:02 PM) See avatar. The official plea has begun. Vlad at DH for the next 3-4 years... well, I'd be happy. Can Vlad last the whole season?
  24. I still say that fat piece of lard david wells...
