The one thing that worries be about Robert is that he’ll kill himself trying to get to balls that Eloy and Mazara can’t get to because they’re not good defenders. That Mazara trade was a year too late IMO. If the White Sox want to compete they don’t have time to depend on a lottery ticket to see if he finally figures it out. I can see Robert covering for one bad defender, but two of them? That’s too much.

I hate that my team is involved in this in any way.

Rick Renteria gets such a bad rap on this site. I believe he will get the most out of the young players on this team. I believe they will run through a brick wall for him. Can he improve his strategic moves? Sure he can. But look at the crap he has been given to work with during the rebuild. Cut him some slack and see what he can do.

You'd need an outfielder who can be a defensive replacement if your corner outfielders are Eloy, Mazara and Castellanos. You'd have to keep Engel somehow to go in the game to protect a lead.

Wouldn't the Red Sox be willing to lauch JD Martinez and his contract for little of nothing? If they're rebuilding on the fly and they need to shed payroll, then I'd think he wouldn't cost much in terms of prospects. I know he has some sort of a No Trade clause but the White Sox are building a very interesting team here.
