  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 03:02 PM) It's one thing if you have a top prospect or 2 sprinkled in. But that line up is beyond putrid. It's one thing to be bad. It's another thing to be lucky to win 40 games bad. I wouldn't mind. To me, there isn't much difference between 40 wins and 65-70 wins. As a matter of fact, I'd rather win 40 games and get the #1 pick in the draft for a few years.
  2. Sale is the linchpin that opens the floodgates. I don't think the rebuild starts unless they're pleased with the offer they get for Sale.
  3. QUOTE (beautox @ Nov 8, 2016 -> 05:05 PM) I look forward to a full on fire sale and watching my 2 and a half year old grow up with a new core. The Kids Can Play PT. II Having said all that I'm on the fence with regards to selling Eaton, but his value is at an all time high and he could return a haul that rivals Q's and Sales and I doubt he wants to spend the next two to three years on a rebuilding roster so ship him off to Washington. I'd sell him if we could get more prospects. Plus would you want Adam Eaton to be the locker room leader of a bunch of kids?
  4. I went to one game last year... it was late in the season and it was awful. No energy, no excitement, no enthusiasm. It was dreadfully boring. If they do a full rebuild and get some young talent, I'll go to at least 10 games - I don't care if they have 100 losses. I'm excited about fresh new talent in the organization. Just imagine how cool it's going to be to anticipate the arrival of a young stud who's raking in the minors. Imagine call ups being covered by the national media. I can't wait.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 07:28 PM) Why the hell wouldn't you move Eaton too? Right... move him too. I used to think about saving only Tim Anderson and Carlos Rodon, but I'd ship them out too if the package was right. No one should be safe.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2016 -> 04:14 PM) "Let's try to drive down price of Sale" As much as I want a full tear down and rebuild, I'd rather keep him before I gave him away for an unworthy package. After the LaRoche debacle, a fan of that north side baseball club called into the Score saying that the team on the north side should offer Dan Vogelbach straight up for Chris Sale to "help the Sox out and take Sale out of their clubhouse". I wanted to punch the radio.
  7. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Nov 6, 2016 -> 09:03 PM) Well the Sox won a world series doing it this way. The reality is they cannot afford a rebuild at this time. They can trade sale for some talent but a full rebuild would destroy their finances as I said before. Fans will not watch or go to the ball park to see 4 years of rebuilding baseball. It just wont happen. And with the Cubs being a great championship team non die hard fans will just watch them instead. If they make some tweaks they can compete for a wild card. With two wild cards most competent teams will be interesting for a season. We blew a lot of games this year we should have won and with 3 top flight starters we will be in a lot of games. And if we could sneak into the playoffs Sale, Q, Rodon would be just as good as what Cleveland trots out there. Odds are low they will win it all but odds are also low of them winning it all after a rebuild. This has been the story for some time now, but I'm not buying it anymore. Now I think fans are even less likely to show up to watch the same boring team stuck in neutral. I know I'd be excited to watch a bunch of young future studs get out there and at least make us feel optimistic about the future.
  8. I love the White Sox, but that song is horrible. It sounds like it's from an era when black people weren't allowed to play baseball in the MLB. No thank you.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 4, 2016 -> 08:46 AM) Davis as a 4th OF/platoon partner with Tilson/pinch runner I'd take. Expecially if we go a rebuild route. If you're doing a full rebuild, why give sign a vet like Davis and give him at bats and playing time? Give that to a young prospect who's trying to prove himself. We might get a late bloomer.
  10. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Nov 3, 2016 -> 01:22 AM) It's going to be that way for some time. They kept the same non productive scouts, minor league director, coaches, everything that is not productive. They can't scout at all. I may go into Sox fan exile. There are other teams so there is no reason to lose interest in a sport you love dearly. I do admire what Ricketts has done. This is such a dream come true for him. I wish some other organization was interested in Kenny Williams. I hate the Ricketts and I'll never EVER be a fan of that team. I'd sooner be a Giants or a Blue Jays fan if I couldn't be a White Sox fan anymore. I'm not leaving though... I'm here to stay.
  11. This God forsaken baseball season is finally over. I can't remember there ever being a worse ending to such a bad season. I'll always be a White Sox fan though... I'll never EVER switch over to that other team up north who I still refuse to name. Our FO really needs to get their s*** together. I'm sick of being bad. I'm sick of losing. I'm REALLY sick of being ignored.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Nov 2, 2016 -> 03:23 PM) A handful of guys drafted in front of him, and handful of guys drafted within the next 10 after him were busts too. Every team has draft busts...and thankfully, the Sox haven't had many of them since Hawkins. True and that makes me feel a little better.
  13. 13th overall pick. I hate that this team hasn't been able to evaluate talent.
  14. Seems like Wilson Ramos would be hesitant to go to a new team when he needs to reestablish value next year. I would think that he'd want to go back to where he's most comfortable.
  15. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 27, 2016 -> 01:47 PM) You guys are missing the point of this thread. Live in fantasy land where JR is a billionaire and gives Rick an open budget. For s***s and giggles make the team you'd want. I get it but there isn't even enough free agent talent out there this year to make this team a favorite to win it all.
  16. Funny this thread popped up. I was just looking at the list of 2017 MLB free agents and I tried to build a team based off of who'll be available. Good god... I really want a full blown rebuild.
  17. Cespedes will use the White Sox as leverage again and go re sign with the Mets. Again. No thank you. Not interested. Blow the whole thing to smithereens and let the kids play.
  18. I remember standing around outside of a bar downtown after the final out. There wasn't any cheering for the first few minutes... I think everyone was in stunned disbelief.
  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) Honestly, it isn't the worst idea for him to be a spearhead behind an ownership group. Doesn't mean it isn't his financing. I don't want to start a political conversation here, but do you think the White Sox would gain or lose fans if President Obama lead a new ownership group?
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 11:35 AM) I thought you did invent google? No I invented Google. I'm going to buy the White Sox and build a new stadium with a retractable roof on the Lakefront with my pocket change.
  21. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Oct 25, 2016 -> 10:45 AM) Why does everyone always say 35th and the Dan Ryan is a "terrible part of town?" Maybe this was true in the 90s. The projects over on Federal are all gone now, just empty lots. Bridgeport is still Bridgeport, it's not really that bad, just an ordinary neighborhood. Bronzeville on the other side of the expressway is halfway gentrified now, and the only way it's not fully gentrified is because the 2008 recession slowed everything down. Is the White Sox in a neighborhood like Wrigleyville? No, and it never will be, that ship sailed 20-something years ago. Really the only thing that irks me about the current stadium is that it faces southeast instead of northeast, so the skyline isn't visible in center field like it should be. Gentrifying Bronzeville makes it better?
  22. I wonder what a new stadium in Naperville or in the Hoffman Estates area do to the fanbase.
  23. QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Oct 24, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) I mean if you are going to completely blow it up with aspirations of obtaining the strongest minor league system in baseball, why not trade Rodon and Anderson too? Combined with signing a bunch of low priced FA vets, that would guarantee top 3 draft picks for the next 3-4 years with the possibility of one or more number 1 picks over this same timeframe. You might be joking, but this is what I would do. I'd nuke the entire 25 man roster. No one would be spared. And you know what? If the Sox did that and acquired some exciting young talent, I'd go to a lot more ball games to watch them mature - even if they lost 100+ games for 2-3 years. I'm sick and tired of the same old stuff. I went to a game a in September and it was the loneliest time I'd ever spent around a few thousand people. There was no energy, no excitement, no buzz, nothing to look forward to. Nuke this entire squad. Bring in some fresh new young talent and let's watch them grow into major leaguers.
  24. The only way the White Sox will get a new stadium is if it's built in Portland, Montreal, North Carolina, or (God forbid) Indiana. And if that northside team (whose name I'll never say on here) goes on a Yankees-like run, I wouldn't doubt if our White Sox were forced to leave Chicago.
  25. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) I think Severson is a good hitting coach. Look at what he's had to work with and look at how better guys in the minors are doing. Severson isn't out there swinging the bats. He can only do so much IMO.
