  1. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Oct 14, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) I like that McEwing is back, people speak very highly of him and to have him in a bigger role should make the Sox better in the dugout. Was hoping for new blood from outside the org but I'll take it. Super Joe reminds me of Joe Maddon when he was a bench coach for Scioscia in LA.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2016 -> 02:52 PM) Don Mattingly said he would quit the Marlins if Bonds was back at hitting coach. That is a pretty clear statement that whatever ability he has as a hitting coach can't cover for Barry's personality. I heard Bonds was pretty motivated in the beginning, but as the season progressed his commitment waned and he was hardly ever there. I think Barry probably got bored.
  3. I could see Super Joe McEwing being promoted to Bench Coach.
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 12:50 PM) Damn, it just reminds me of how much fun baseball was for me at that black out game. Probably the best sporting experience I ever personally had being at a game. I was in Section 531. That game felt like a World Series game.
  5. I think KW and RH get a bad rap. Ive always thought that KW was unfairly judged. JR is the problem. If JR tells him to field a team that will draw crowds and not a bunch of young no-names, then what is he supposed to do? We need a new owner.
  6. To me, AJ as a manager will look a lot like Matt Williams looked in Washington. No thanks. Plus Ozzie said it best... "EVERYBODY hates AJ... we just hate him a little less"
  7. QUOTE (The Mighty Mite @ Sep 23, 2016 -> 08:46 PM) Sox website says his shoulder and head hit the wall hard, I'm thinking possible concussion. I know most won't agree, but in my opinion it's actually selfish to go balls out against a wall like that. It's one out in a meaningless game.
  8. Good god just make it stop. I wish the season was over already.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 13, 2016 -> 09:31 AM) Avi in his last 35 games is .302/.344/.526. If he finishes the season strong, what happens next? Is he still a non tender? Even if he could keep his bat going... can you trust his defense? Would you be comfortable with him at DH. I don't think so.
  10. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) They do not have the resources to get that hitter. He definitely does not exist in FA, and they don't have the pieces to acquire him in a trade. Your best hope is that Collins turns into that player. If that's the case, then torch the team and trade everybody not named Tim Anderson or Carlos Rodon.
  11. Eh... just switch over to twitter for a few minutes when you want to flame someone, then come back here when you've gotten it all out of your system.
  12. A good fix for this would be if they changed the name of the company from Guaranteed Rate to something more desirable. Guaranteed Rate Field sounds like a minor league ballpark.
  13. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Aug 17, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) out on a limb to say Sox lose this one 6-1. Nah I say 2-1. The kid will pitch well but won't get run support because we haven't seen that enough yet this year.
  14. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 11:03 AM) The Cubs have been the most popular team in Chicago since the mid-80s. Win or lose, they have fans. Same goes for the Red Sox in the Northeast. Their fan base hasn't changed much since 2004. And that team in the north hasn't won a world series in over 100 years. I imagine their fan base will increase if they became a dynasty like the Yankees. That will be especially bad for the White Sox if they continue to be inept.
  15. QUOTE (South Sider @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 10:56 AM) The Mets still have a solid fanbase. Granted, New York is a different animal than Chicago, but I think that shows us that not all is lost for the Sox in Chicago should the Cubs become a dynasty. Yeah but how many more people are in the New York metropolitan area? Way more than Chicago.
  16. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) What a ringing endorsement for no. I could definitely see them heading in a direction that it is at the very least a possibility that they may pull from the city. How many more years are we going to be able to get by with having atrocious attendance and ratings that continually drop? Let alone a core fan base that is sincerely jumping ship from supporting this team in any way. ESPECIALLY if that other Chicago team goes on a Yankees like run and takes over the city. What young kid is going to want to be a White Sox fan?
  17. They're going to have a tough time keeping fans interested in this team. I mean we all are, but the general sports fan? The White Sox are going to be even more invisible.
  18. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) I'd rather hang out with my son than hope (for an hour) that my favorite baseball team's FO finally gets it right. Nothing is going to happen anyway.
  19. I usually switch over to Twitter when I wanna name call and hurl personal insults at people.
  20. If it were up to me, I'd trade: Sale Quintana Shields Abreu Lawrie Frazier Melky Eaton Robertson Jones Fleece other club's farm systems... fire Robin... let the kids play for a few years and be a perennial playoff team when they get better. We can even bring back the old "The Kids Can Play" tagline.
  21. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jul 28, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) Kind of hesitant about how Sale will do tonight. Either he'll throw 8-9 innings of no hit - like ball, or he'll be shelled and pulled before the end of the 3rd. There is no middle ground tonight.
  22. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 02:56 PM) I'm ok if we sweep this series and then play .200 baseball for the rest of the year, thus securing a top draft pick ...while unloading EVERYBODY for prospects.
  23. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 01:15 PM) It's time to STEP UP, GET GOIN' and beat da Cubs!!!!! Starting pitchers: Miguel Gonzalez (2-5, 4.41) vs. Jake Arietta (12-4, 2.60) July 25, 2016 Chicago White Sox vs. Chicago Cubs Stadium: U.S. Cellular Field Announcers: Ken Harrelson and Steve Stone (White Sox), Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies (Cubs) Game telecast time: 7:00 PM Central / 8:00 PM Eastern * White Sox telecast Cable / satellite: Comcast SportsNet Chicago re-airs: Tuesday 12:30 AM (CSN), Tuesday 5:00 AM (CSN+), Tuesday 1:00 PM (CSN) Cubs telecast 10 over-the-air stations: Chicago WLS-TV, Channel 7 (ABC) re-air at 11:00 PM: WLS-TV, Channel 7-2 (Live Well Network) South Bend WMYS-LD, Channel 69 (my network TV) * Springfield, IL / Decatur WCIX Springfield, Channel 49 (my network TV) Champaign WCIA, Channel 3-2 (my network TV) (WCIX simulcast) Peoria / Bloomington, IL WAOE Peoria, Channel 59 (my network TV) Rockford WTVO, Channel 17-2 (my network TV) Quad Cities WHBF-TV Rock Island, Channel 4-2 (The CW) (KGCW simulcast) Burlington, IA KGCW, Channel 26 (The CW) Cedar Rapids / Waterloo / Iowa City KFXA Cedar Rapids, Channel 28 (Fox) Des Moines KDSM-TV, Channel 17 (Fox) . I hate "Step Up" just as much as I hated "All In".
  24. I know this has been covered extensively in other threads, but I'd trade everyone who isn't named Rodon, Anderson or Fulmer.
