  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2016 -> 02:41 PM) And how do we know he was offered to the Sox? Plus why would that team on the northside (I hate seeing that effing banner on here) help out the White Sox in any way? They probably want the Sox to continue to wither and die on the vine.
  2. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 09:09 AM) There is NO F###ING WAY I would ever root for the Cubs. Even if my son played for the Cubs, I would not root for the Cubs. In agreement - unless they changed ownership and Michael Jordan bought them or something. Even then I'd have a bad taste in my mouth.
  3. What's the deal with Mat Latos? Is he still good? I heard he wasn't a good clubhouse guy. I also wonder if this means that a starting White Sox pitcher is on the move.
  4. QUOTE (bjm676 @ Jan 27, 2016 -> 10:43 AM) This is interesting. Addison Russell and Tim Lincecum are both of Filipino heritage. I find it interesting, because I'm married to a Filipina, so it's nice to see the Philippines represented. I was surprised when I learned that Dave Bautista was Filipino. I think Tyler is going to have a good year. He'll surprise us.
  5. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Avi surprisingly had the third highest walk rate among all Sox starters last year. Through May last year he had a .323/.360/.445 slash and was .278/.331/.435 in August. If he can hit like that all year he is fine. It's just the .548, .581, .588 OPS's he put up the other three months that made his year look really bad. The kid is a hard worker. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make great strides this year. I realistically could see him putting up a .280/.330/.460 slash line this year. I hope he's using all of the free agent talk about the Sox trying to lure one of the big 3 outfielders as motivation. I hope he MASHES next year and makes us forget about Cespedes, Upton and Gordon.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2016 -> 08:48 AM) If there is a defense to that, Sox fans that called his show were super meatball-ish and it can wear on you. This shouldn't be an excuse to be a dick to the fans and callers. I don't think you should ever be a jerk to fans and callers like that I don't care how meatbally they are. Rongey had full control and could have easily hung up on rude callers. Instead of being a professional, he chose to stoop to the caller's level and berate them. Straight from the Dan Bernstein tree of ahole-dom...
  7. QUOTE (LDF @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 06:32 AM) if the sox do not get any of the price of"ers that was or still is on the market, i can settle for the next tier of players like A. Jackson and he covering cf. If we get Jackson, what do you do with Eaton? Put him in left and move Melky to DH? I don't know if Melky or Eaton could play right.
  8. Sure we can... ESPECIALLY f we kick the Cubs asses in the World Series a few times. Think about it... sure there are a lot of Cubs fans but there are also a lot of people in Chicago who HATE the Cubs. The White Sox would be a viable alternative.
  9. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 17, 2015 -> 10:42 AM) Do you know if he was referring to referring to the Cespedes/Upton/Gordon group or the tier below them? Either way, I'm happy that he plans to do something. I don't know for sure, but I would bet that he was talking about one of the free agents.
  10. It sounds like it's pretty much a given that we'll get one of the free agent outfielders. Hahn laughed it off, but he couldn't hide it. I'm telling you, I wouldn't be shocked if we got TWO of the free agents. Either that, or sign one and trade for another.
  11. Yeah I'd pick Gordon because he also weakens your division rival. Plus I want defense. DEFENSE DEFENSE DEFENSE!!!
  12. Imagine the shock if we signed Gordon AND Upton. Would that make us the favorites to come out of the AL? Eaton CF Gordon LF Abreu 1B Upton RF Frazier 3B Melky DH Lawrie 2B Avila/Navarro C Saladino SS I'd go to war with the cubs with this team.
  13. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) If you replace Avi Garcia with Justin Upton, I don't think any team in the division has a better line-up, and our starting pitching is top tier as well. Eaton Melky Abreu Upton Frazier LaRoche Lawrie Avila/Navarro Saladino That's a strong line-up with some decent speed and power. Not to mention you have one of the best defensive left sides of the infield in baseball Maaaan... if you go out and get Upton and have LaRoche's rejuvenated bat in the middle of that order. You might really have something.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) 670 tries their hardest to be extreme in their opinions, its trash radio, stay away. The Sox make a significant news and they STILL can't get off of the cubs and Heyward's nuts.
  15. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 16, 2015 -> 12:26 PM) I think point 1 is open for debate. If point 1 is true, than my opinion of this deal changes significantly. I can't argue points #2 and #3. #2 is entirely plausible and #3 is factual (although I don't know that I go as far as saying dynamic..but they all have at least one outstanding tool). The only thing I'm worried about is Frazier turning into an Adam when he gets here. Maybe the HR Derby threw Frazier off. I highly doubt that Melky/Eaton/Avi is going to be the starting outfield on opening day. Expect more. Micah couldn't play defense and Trayce Thompson was probably just another Brian Anderson or Jordan Danks - above average outfield defense without a lick of hitting. I don't know man... what else could Hahn have done? I mean none of us were happy with things the way they were. At least we have some buzz going.
  16. Man the people at 670 The Score really REALLY disrespect the White Sox. And Boers and Bernstein aren't even on yet.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 02:00 PM) Gordon becomes much more interesting at 4 or 5 years, than he does at 6. 6/$120M? I'd still do it. Worry about that 6th year later.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) Magnificent hitter, and true grinder. Also a sleezeball human, incapable of being truthful, even with his reputation on the line. He can stay out. I'd sooner accept the most obvious roiders into the HOF than this guy who bet on baseball while playing and coaching, and then lied about it repeatedly for decades. True, but I bet there are way more shady characters already in the HOF.
  19. I'd shock the world and offer Alex Gordon 5/$100. It would weaken one division rival (Royals) and make another division rival have to look elsewhere (Tigers). But if we do that then you have to make a trade for Frazier too. I won't say those words that rhyme with MALL PIN, but yeah... that would be fun.
  20. Eh f*** it. I hope he no longer cares. I wouldn't. Everyone knows he's one of the greatest.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) This is how I feel too. Frazier's age, second half collapse and two years of control make it easy for me to want to keep Anderson. Plus, I believe Anderson will continue to progress and become the SS of the future for the Sox when he's ready. Sadly, I agree as well. It would be different if Frazier was a bonafide stud or something. Not trading for him means we're not going to compete next year. This is going to be a long, dreadful season.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 14, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) I'll cry when Hawk hangs up the mic for good. He is an announcing legend. I won't cry, but I kind of like Hawk. I think he gets a bad rap.
  23. I just hope it's not the guy whose last name rhymes with ONGEY or the guy that Bernstein keeps pushing on the radio. I think Bernstein Rips Hawk so much because he wants the job to go to some former intern who Bernstein likes a lot.
  24. This thread reminds me of the time people here didn't want to give up Gordon Beckham in a trade for Adrian Gonzalez.
