  1. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Nov 7, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) Sox are rumored to be at suitor for Josh Willingham. I highly doubt it because they would have to move Quentin and bench De Aza. Both moves I don't see happening. I would much rather keep Quentin.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 6, 2011 -> 03:05 AM) steve, Brian, I think I went too far tonight. You didn't get married, pull a tooth or get a tattoo on your face, did you?
  3. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 10:16 PM) Yeah I'd probably just agree with that, both were pretty decent, certainly not in the Iron Man 1 league or anything, but both were a lot better than Green Lantern at least. They say that the best weapon is the one that you never have to fire. I respectfully disagree. I prefer... the weapon you only have to fire ONCE. That's how Dad did it, that's how America does it... and it's worked out pretty well so far. - Tony Stark Classic
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) Balta thought the movie was a joke. I like Thor a lot, but I think Captain America was better. I loved the setup to the Winter Soldier I thought the fight scene with the Frost Giants was the coolest (pun intended) thing in both movies. The smirk Thor had when that Frost Giant told him to "run back home, little princess" and when he threw Mjolnir through that big ass monster... awesome.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 5, 2011 -> 08:37 PM) Captain America was solid. Helluva lot better than Thor. Whoa... I respectfully disagree. I got kinda sleepy during Captain America. There was more ass kicking in Thor.
  6. I thought Big Jim could no longer play in the field because of his back.
  7. Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in SAFEHOUSE. Looks absolutely bad ass. http://www.movies.com/movie-news/39safe-ho...k-lots-ass/5259
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 03:43 PM) And if you look at it, Ventura's heart isn't in that fight. He was standing up for his guys. I so wish that Frank had charged instead. Or Bo Jackson. But you know what would even be better? It'd be even cooler if the 2012 White Sox made the postseason and kicked the living s*** out of the Texas Rangers in the playoffs and sent Ryan and his team packing again without a WS ring. Now THAT would be cool.
  9. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 02:41 PM) This "fight" is so overrated. In the angle they always show (from the catcher), Ventura looks like he gets pounded. But if you see it from the centerfield angle, Ryan's noogies barely land before Ventura gets out of the headlock and they go to the ground. 5:20 on the video. If you look at Ryan as he's falling, he looks like an old man. And then when you see Ventura after the brawl, he doesn't exactly look like a guy who just got beat up. Mickey Hatcher's the only guy who really took a beating, though, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6w_7C1CDgdg Plus, Ryan didn't even throw a punch until Pudge Rodriguez grabbed and held Ventura. And Robin actually takes him down as everyone else starts getting involved. That fight was horses***.

He’s been throwing at batters forever, and people are gutless to do anything about it. I was glad Robin went out. Someone had to do it. He’s pulled that stuff wherever he goes. Too bad he doesn’t show up for his team until the next time it’s his turn to pitch. He’ll be home on the ranch. You watch, his team will fall just short again while he shows up on the DL.” Black mother f***ing Jack.
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 11:16 AM) Yeah, baseball players seem like such p*****s when fighting. I'm sure there are a few cases of guys landing some really good punches. The problem is that you said Ryan had his ass kicked by Winfield when he clearly did not. If you're looking at the same youtube video that I'm looking at, then it's hard to tell. But if you read the statements of the people that saw the brawl, they all pretty much say that Ryan was on the losing end of that brawl. Hell Ryan himself said that he didn't want another Winfield incident.
  12. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 11:01 AM) I just watched that clip on YouTube, and I'd hardly say Winfield kicked his ass. He seemed to land the first (and only) punch before the entire thing turned into a brawl. Isn't that the case with most baseball fights though? They're not like hockey fights where they're allowed to duke it out.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 10:55 AM) That doesn't change the fact that Robin lost that "fight" pretty decisively. If your criteria for deciding a fight is one guy bleeding from an area of the body only likely to bleed if smashed with a hammer, then there's never going to be a winner. IMO Ventura didn't really have time to retaliate. They were all over him while he was being punched in the head.
  14. So it seems line the Marlins have backtracked a bit about changing their name to the Miami Marlins. Plus there's no evidence of that HIDEOUS new color scheme they came out with after Ozzie was brought on board. What gives?
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 3, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) Hypothetical: What if it had been Frank that charged the mound? Or this guy... Too bad he was still with the Indians at the time. Nolan Ryan was overrated anyway. People don't talk about how he got his ass kicked by Dave Winfield. They NEVER show clips of that in Arlington.
  16. Well they've said that they won't compete next year. It's like they're taking a step back to take more steps forward. Epstein will rip up the organization from top to bottom and build it to his liking. I'm just not convinced he has any better shot than any other GM at winning it all. Now Andrew Friedman would have been different. That dude is money.
  17. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) That's really an absurd assumption. That's a thoughtless and empty ass reply. Try backing it up.
  18. How many other GMs could have performed the "miracles" that Epstein performed with that payroll? I bet more than half of them.
  19. Eh... I'm not sold on Theo Epstein and his buddies like everyone else. He has to show me what he can do without having the 2nd biggest payroll in the MLB every season. And it's not like I'm a Cub hater. I just don't see the fascination with this guy. I say that KW will win another ring with the White Sox before Epstein ever wins one on the northside.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 01:37 PM) I want this word removed from the English language. Or at the very least it should be filtered. Seconded.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 12:11 PM) How? I'm guessing that the required waiting period is shorter for managers, but still how the hell would La Russa be eligible when both Cox and Torre last managed in 2010? Either way, this does not bode well for Frank's chances of getting inducted on the first ballot (Maddux and Glavine being media darlings and all of those legendary managers). If Frank Thomas is not a first ballot Hall of Famer, then they should just shut the freaking place down.
  22. I'm taking the wait and see approach, but I sure would have felt a lot better if there was an experienced guy sitting on the bench next to Ventura. And who else beside Coop speaks fluent Spanish? Man if this doesn't go right, US Cellular field is going to be empty an awful lot next year.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 31, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) Kevin_Goldstein Kevin Goldstein Speaking of Venezuela. Lastings Milledge went 2-for-4 today, and up to .315. Some rumors that he'll be going to Japan next year. I guess he's tired of not being given an opportunity. Can't say I blame him.
  24. "ALL IN" is dead!!! There's no more mention of ALL IN on whitesox.com. Finally they've killed it.
