Ohtani Watch: Dodgers sign - 700M over 10yrs
Vote4Pedro replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
False reporting…I already said it was a 600 mil deal with escalators to 700 mil based on IP and Plate Appearances. -
Hopefully Yamamoto and Snell sign here soon so we can let the Cease sweepstakes begin

Not in Japan where Shoei is the equivalent to Michael Jordan and that is all that matters in this equation -

Don’t have the numbers in front of me but Steve Cohen will have paid close to more money than the entire Sox payroll on players leaving his organization over the past year or so then JR will have spent on the 2024 on the field product. There are plenty of owners out there that understand spending money will ultimately make you money. -

Still even then it’s worth every penny that they are going to make off of him. They probably don’t care about year 5 and beyond. At that point the money will have been recouped and I’m sure LA will have spent another 500 mil on a future player to join their team. -

It will be interesting to see the financials of the deal when they get released but If most of money is deferred and doesn’t put a strain on the Dodgers luxury tax threshold giving them flexibility to bring in even more players then there is zero reason it is a terrible contract. Not even hating on teams anymore that do these things, just pissed we don’t have an owner that can’t understand in order to make money you gotta spend money. -

It’s not about the Jersey sells, just wait till LA gets a television deal in Japan for Dodger games. That alone will probably cover most of the contract. -

Not saying his play will live up to the contract but they for sure won’t lose money on his deal. -

I’m sure it won’t be. They will recoup every single cent of it with merchandise sales and marketing. Plus the deferrals will allow LA to spend even more -

This just in: JR offered 8 years at 600 mil with incentives to make it 10 year 700 mil based on plate appearances and innings pitched in year 7 and 8 of the contract ??? -

Nah the Sox get like a 3% bump in that because of their current incompetence and mess throughout the organization. That alone keeps them in the media. Not their play on the field that’s for sure -

You know the best thing that combats a superstar on the other side of town? Winning…spending money the right way and putting a winning product on the field. The fandom will take care of itself but of course when you have a cheap ass owner that won’t buy a star, management who can’t develop their own and a marketing team that can’t promote their own product then of course if the cubs land Ohtani they would own the future fan base. We aren’t the lovable losers who have people flock to Guaranteed Rate because of the history of the stadium. White Sox fans will show with a consistent winner on the field, that is proven…,but when you continue to put your own interests (loyalty, making money for your business partners, unwilling to adapt to the modern game, etc) ahead of winning then you get exactly to the spot the Sox are in….a future of irrelevance and incompetence from the top down throughout the organization. -

That’s what we’ve said about managerial changes from Renteria to TLR to Pedro and the jury is still out on going from Hahn to Getz obviously but many think it’s going to be a failure based on his previous credentials so I would be careful on saying the new ownership can’t be worse than Jerry…but it’s definitely something I’m willing to gamble on -
What are the Sox trying to do here, really?
Vote4Pedro replied to Chick Mercedes's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The management team is just giving Jerry and Tony what they want…a bunch of slap hitting David Eckstein and Chris Getz type of players -
Yankees acquire Juan Soto in trade with Padres

Deal is official -
I don’t wish ill will upon anyone but he is testing my limits
-
Just counting down the days till we acquire the defensive guru Salvy Perez is all
-
One less catcher on the market for the Sox….
-
Eder / Bush / Martin / Touki/ scholtens all in there like swimwear to cover down on those innings ?
-
Wow a Yankees / Red Sox trade…
-
Hypothetical….bring either him or Manea into the fold to give the rotation some veteran presence
-
It’s a lost season anyways. I’ve seen enough of Touki and Kopech to know they aren’t MLB consistent starters. Kopech can be your closer till you are able to shop him at the deadline and it gives you the opportunity to see what the two kids can bring to the table instead of bouncing them around.

This move Kopech to the pen and trade Cease. Soroka Montas Fedde Shuster Nastrini
